The main problems with blockchain tech are many and bloat is one but lets look closer.

1. Speed - NEM is already much faster then Bitcoin and the blocks come at a much more consistent rate. In the future NEM can even get faster.

2. Blockchain bloat - no crytpo has addressed this but there are some ideas floating around.

3. Ease of use - NEM is already easier than most coins in its beta and as more clients/apps come to market, it will be easier. To this end the NEM NCC is already open source.

4. Adaptibility - while Bitcoin is quite rigid in its code, you'll find that future apps and third party designs will find lots of usefulness in NEM. In fact, there is already a 65 page API guide explaining it in detail. About the only the I know that might be more flexible is Ethereum, which of course was designed with that one thing as its focus.

5. Safety - NEM devs are committed to security, that's why NEMS on launch will have user wallets and multisig. The other 2.0's don't have either as far as I'm away.

There's more, but you can see that a lot of thought is being put into this.

Since I see some talk about multisig, supercoin has already implemented it. Might make it easier to check that source code out to implement it to NEM

implemented is bit too far-fetched. bitcoin has it and from what we can see simcoin is based on bitcoin, so they inherited it...

Actually, we have a way sort of from the beginning, as we've got the idea, even before first line of code was conceived.
(It's just not implemented, and probably won't be soon, it's one of V1 targets though)

could someone who has zero knowledge of linux and setting up nodes in general other than downloading a client locally give this a go and tell me if theres any part that you get stuck on or find confusing? i want it to be as straight forward as possible so anyone can do it irrespective of technical skill level.

This may be a dumb question, but... do you need to be running the Linux OS to do this? Or, could you do it on Windows?

you can do it on Windows but if you want to use a Windows server it generally costs a minimum of 3 Times more. 5 dollars per month is ok.. 15 not so much. Also it's a phenomenal pain in the ass to modify port settings and do basically everything else too. At least that was my experience.

One other question: Could this be done with a Raspberry pi? If so, then I will look into it further
