Finally something I have been waiting for, OpenBazaar is pretty much a decentralized ebay based on DarkMarket which is a P2P trading platform. http://www.btcfeed.net/news/openbazaar-is-the-decentralized-ebay/Can't wait to use it, theres not gonna be the 15% ebay fees and no more paypal stealing your hard earned money

If bitcoin does live to its promise, I can easily see how this will give Ebay a run for its money. Instead of a Ebay for each country with lots of fees, it will be a one world online market. This could be as big as Amazon or Wikipedia

I really hope it does not end up like Bitmit. The site was closed down when the interest was at its peak. The reason given by the admins was that they don't have the capability to deal with so many users and vendors. Hope that this site will be run by more competitive people. BTW.... isn't Cryptothrift a P2P trading site?

OpenBazaar seems to be a promising project. I still miss BitMit and think there is ample opportunity for new auction/listing-services in the bitcoin space.
However it's imperative that these new services focus on essential functionality and make participation as easy as possible - because most important for such services to succeed is ample participation by both sellers and buyers (the latter being even more important).

The closing down of Bitmit was a huge disappointment. But have you ever tried out crypto-thrift? They have far fewer listings and vendors when compared to Bitmit, but some of the listings have caught my eye.

I think it's the software or protocol for it isn't it? I could be wrong though. Hopefully this solves all the problems other markets like Silk Road and Atlantis had etc.

What do you mean exactly? It is a marketplace but I don't think it's gone live yet.

I'm sure it will solve many of the problems Atlantis and SR had. I wouldn't really trust those markets but I'd have a little more faith in this one I think. I hope it works out well.

Yes. The site is not yet online. But their forum is very active (open to non-members). A lot of meaningful discussions are going on there, and there you'll get an idea of what you can expect from Open Bazaar. http://forum.openbazaar.org

Wont they get into trouble openly developing this sort of thing?

Anonymous markets are always controversial ... I am not talking about sell drugs and guns, but for example sell patents essays too ( btw came to my mind Aaron Swartz Death ) ... but all this already exist in real world (take a look on dark pool liquidity on financial market) , I think openbazaar would be "free market" to regular people

I really like this idea. I am not sure how long it will take to pull some significant numbers away from epay-bay but I will definitley support it.

Competition for ebay would be a welcome change. https://cryptothrift.com/ looks interesting.

There 'used' to be more truth in forums than anywhere else. Twitter: @cryptobitchicks Spock: "I am expressing multiple attitudes simultaneously. To which are you referring?" INTJ-A

This is a great idea. I remember posting this concept in a thread 4-5 months ago when someone asked "what types of BTC businesses would you like to see in the future."
If done correctly, this will be a hit...
