Hello guys,
I am having a problem with logging in on my S3+ after changing some configurations.
Basically the steps made were:
1. Updated the miner to a new mining pool 2. Changed the password to "password" 3. Rebooted and logged in with the password "password" 4. Checked if the mining was working on the new pool and everything was fine 5. Changed the network settings from DHCP client to Fixed IP 6. Turned off the miner
When I got to the new place to connect the miner it never showed on the mining pool. Tried to log in via port 80, it says that the password is not correct, tried via SSH and I get the same error.
The miner replies to pings from the fixed IP that I have configured and I can access to the login page via HTTP and it asks me for user and password via SSH.
I have tried several times the hardware reset procedure but with no success, it stays always on the last fixed IP that i have configured and it does not let me login using any of the passwords that i have used on the past.
I am really without any more ideas for testing this. Please help me!
I will tip anyone that can help me solve this issue.
Thank you very much.
Make sure you're hitting the reset button as it's not directly behind the hole. Cold start, power up, mash the reset button every 5 seconds for a minute; shut down and restart.

Is there a guide to underclocking the S3 Couldn't find anything decent or an "easy to do" tutorial Thanks!!! You can get settings from the bitmain tech site under the support. Get the info for the chip and it will tell you what volt and freq combo's to use. https://www.bitmaintech.com/files/download/BM1382_Datasheet_v3.0.pdfIs what you want. Also updating to latest firmware makes it a breeze to do.

Hi,
I'm having a bit of fun with a single S3+ that has come my way. I'm fairly new to Antminer and mining.
Is there a way I could schedule the unit to run at reduced capacity at night in the hope of lower fan speeds?
Cheers.

My 2nd S3+ has come in a bit earlier than expected! Gonna split them up a bit by having each of them on a different pool. We'll see how it all goes... All in all my miner collection has grown... 2 from Butterfly Labs... 3 from Bitmain.

At first I thought my 2nd S3+ was in a smokey environment but it turns out I must have been simply pushing my power supply too hard... Had both of the miners running off of a CX750M and I saw smoke coming from the pci-e port on the psu... So any recommendations for a psu that will run both without catching fire or something...? Probably 1000w at least?

An 850/1000 Gold rate PSU would do just fine for your S3+ units and give you better power efficiency. Some PSUs to consider would be: - EVGA G2 Supernova 850w or 1000w *note: There is 1300w version and its about $70 bucks more than the 850w but unless you are planning on getting a third unit, I would go for the 1000w. or - Coolmaster V850 or V1000 (850w and 1000w respectively) *note: The 1000w is only like $10-15 dollars more than the 850w, so I would go for the extra wattage unless you are on a budget. Both of these recommendations have excellent reviews and should provide a small return in terms of your power bill consumption (assuming you mine 24/7). If you feel rich and want some amazing stuff, look at the Seasonic X series but be prepared to pay a premium for the name / warranty. P.S. I looked up the CX750M, its only has 62a available on the 12v rail (744w). While not horrible, that particualr PSU is not rated to run with a 96.7% load on it 24/7. Usually most people and myself, would not recommend putting a load on any PSU beyond it's efficiency rating (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/80_Plus)

Yes a 1000w is recommended for 2 units. also be sure to use 4 dedicated cables for each unit when overclocking, it looks to me like you were only using 2 cables on the unit and thats why one of them fried Thanks for the help! Probably will go with the EVGA G2 1000 and hope for the best this time around...
Good choice, I use a coolermaster 1000w for my S3, I also have a 750w G2 for my main computer, EVGA power supplies are great, 10 year warranty too

That should be fine so long as you have all 4x pcie attached. (On both miners so 8x pcie total)
