HELP!  My Antminer S3's suddenly stopped.  I just received them three days ago.  I got them configured and running easily.  (I replaced an S1, so I was already familiar with the set-up).  They worked fine for the last couple of days.  Today they started beeping.  When I go to the GHash.IO page, I can see the pool is still up and mining away.  But for some reason, I'm no longer mining.  When I log into each miner, and check the miner status tab, there are no stats.  I already tried to power down and re-start them.  What do you recommend I look at next to trouble shoot this?  Thanks.

If one pool goes down, always try a backup pool first to test its not the miner-pool configuration before moving on to more drastic steps.

The first pool is still running.  I did add a back-up pool today, but it's not working either.

Are there any S3's left for sale anywhere?Huh

okay here are some s-3 options :

you can buy from a reseller.

you can buy a hosted one.

you can buy one from bitmaintech and wait for 30 days.

some math to consider.  1 unit at 450 earns about

.01147 btc a day for the next 2 days or so.

if we jump to 22729 it will earn about .009957 for 13 days or so.

so an order from bitmaintech means you do not hash for 33 days maybe 36 days.

that is more then
  2 x .011470  =  0.02294
13 x .009957  =  0.12441
13 x  ?           =   0.10000 ?
  5 x  ?           =   0.04000 ?

total -------------- 0.28735

that .28735  is a guess but it is close at todays prices that is about 143 usd lost

so to order from bitmaintech 2 units  you lose about 285 usd waiting for hash power.

Yep, that was it.  Not sure why my back-up didn't kick in (Slush pool).  Maybe I had the wrong URL for that.  So now I have us1.ghash.io:3333 as my first pool, and nl1.ghash.io:3334 as my second pool.  The miners are buzzing again  Smiley
Thanks

Thanks

Ghash is our first "failover" pool (i.e. Pool #2).
Rather than using the URL for Ghash's US1 we use the IP.
We do this because in the past DNS (google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) have had issues correctly supplying the IP for that URL.
This makes the pool appear unavailable or "dead".
Below is a snapshot of our Worker #22's Miner status page and is an example of what to expect for hash rate when OC'ing to 237.5MHz with a customized Stratum Difficulty of 915.

Ghash's Netherlands server is on port 3334?

Best of luck.

Bumping this

BITMAIN - A couple questions please:

1)  Why do you continue to ignore the request by the cgminer developers to release your code as you are morally & legally required to do so under the GPLv3 License Agreement?

2)  The cgminer software that you are deploying ILLEGALLY with your software has SEVERE security flaws, including the stratum redirect issue - why are you NOT implementing the latest version to eliminate these issues?

These and other questions have been asked many times by many people across this forum, but you continue to ignore them, refusing to even comment, and by doing so you are not only breaking the law, but you are also demonstrating massive contempt towards the cgminer developers & the Open Source Community as well as creating suspicion as to your reasons/motives within the Bitcoin Community.

Until you decide to capitulate & do the honorable & legally binding - and above all, the RIGHT thing - I and others on this forum will continue to pursue a response/reply to the above questions.

I urge everyone on this forum to do the same, not only out of respect & gratitude to the cgminer developers who have given so much to the Bitcoin community FOR FREE under the GPLv3 Licensing Terms, but also to ensure the security of your own extremely vulnerable mining equipment purchased from Bitmain.

Thank you.
I've left negative feedback in his profile, I urge everyone else to do the same.
And not to buy his products, of course.
They should be banned altogether, but meanwhile that's a nice start.

Good stuff Lohoris,

I hope the whole Bitcoin community here will all get behind the cgminer developers - they deserve our support, as do the many customers who are running Bitmain units with known security issues & unknown software inside them.....

Nice to see more posts about this  Smiley

Does anyone know how Kano was able to write his own version for the S1? Does he have supporting documents? Or did he just come up with a work around?
Since Bitmain does not respond to 99.99% of the forum requests for help, comments, or anything else, its obvious they treat this entire forum as nothing more than an advertising billboard! They do not engage with this community ever!

Agreed.

BITMAIN: If you expect us to continue using and buying your products, you must follow the requirements of the license under which you got the source to cgminer and made modifications to it, then including it in your products. Not doing so only feeds the suspicion of something all not being as it should. You already have numerous people stating here on this discussion board that they will not buy any more of your products until the source code is released, as is required, so the developers can verify correctness and see what's necessary for security updates that have already been identified and that are absolutely necessary for safe continued operation. Not doing so adds to those, myself included, that view your products as suspect at this point, and are holding off purchasing more due to your failure to release the source as required.

Remember BITMAIN that there are other manufacturers that your customers can purchase from, and will if you demonstrate that you are not a trusted member of the mining community.

I'm adding myself to the list of those that will not purchase any more of your products until the source code is released, as required, for the developers review and inclusion in the source code tree.

They had released the code for the driver for the S1.

With a lot of polling from a big customer they eventually released the S2 driver.

The S3 driver we've had no luck getting out of them.

Questions if you don't mind:

1.  What is your wattage at the wall for 231.25M (please include other relevant data such as ambient room temp and PSU efficiency).
2.  What are the rest of the parameters (i.e. 'freq_value' and 'timeout') for 231.25M?
3.  How does one come up with the appropriate 'freq_value' and 'timeout' for a particular frequency?  Is there a certain formula/equation involved or is it pretty much a trial and error method?

Pardon my ignorance in this matter.
