I got the fuck out! Lol. And made a tiny bit of profit after 5 weeks. This whole deal just sets my alarm bells ringing.

I invested 0.95BTC and bought 5MHs each of the regular hashlets that were available at the time for 25MHs. I sold everything over the past few days for well under list price and I made 0.182BTC in profit.

I did it out of curiosity because of all of the buzz. I certainly didn't invest any more than I could afford to lose. I learned that lesson with Lunamine. But the whole hashlet concept seems obviously scammy to me. And because it's very well funded and has such a professional feel, the "scamminess" of it is easy to ignore/forget. But literally nothing about it makes any sense.

I had this exact same feeling years ago when I worked in sales for an international paper recycling company. Our divisional Vice President flew in for a meeting with the sales department one day. He was just so excited about this company called Enron that was revolutionizing recycled paper brokerage. He tried for hours to explain in detail how the process worked and how we'd make more money regardless of the price of recycled fiber going up or down. We all nodded our heads and smiled as he spoke so enthusiastically. After the meeting, we all returned to our offices and sat quietly for awhile. Then slowly we started asking each other questions about what we had just heard. And we were all unable to see the logic in any of it!

Regardless, we started doing business through and with Enron. Who can say "no" to the boss?! Profits soared for several months. And we all thought "Gee, maybe we are all just idiots. It seems to be working very well." And then quickly, it all came crashing down. Payments due from Enron were late and eventually stopped coming. Paper shipments went missing. The nice folks at Enron kept making promises and offering even more exciting incentives to keep us hooked for several more months.

Our division ultimately lost millions and our entire company was crippled for years.

So in my mind GAW=Enron. I guess only time will tell.

Advice for beginners? Read.

Many people will tell you that GAW is legitimate. And as many people will tell you that they are a long-con Ponzi scheme. It's up to you to process the information that you obtain through reading and judge your level of risk.

But if you're just too lazy to read, then I have an easy answer for you. No, they are not legitimate. But that's just my opinion which you can read for yourself directly above your post.

Now I'm sure someone will come in and post something that completely contradicts what I've said. So who will you believe without learning for yourself?

Further advice... do not go to the GAW-owned HashTalk forum and ask your questions. Negative opinions are forbidden so you will not get honest advice. And in my view, that's further indication that they are not legitimate. Controlling the message through censorship and propaganda is always a bad sign.

$50 per mhs for a hashlet is way over-priced in my view. As a result, I have sold all but 10mhs or so of my Prime's and all of my other hashlets, and sunk the proceeds into LTC Gear

I'm out as well and did the same as you.  As soon as they opened up prime listings again I got out.

LTCGear is great and you can't compare the pricing.

Oh and to all the naysayers, saying "well you must have done something pretty bad to banned", or "provide me the link to post you made or its bs", I was just on the forum now and noticed user 'KC6TTR' was banned, after reading a quite interesting & intelligent post he made 2 mths ago regards the paypal agreement. His post is here https://hashtalk.org/topic/8989/paypal-s-latest-move-to-crew-the-seller-while-preparing-for-btc-et-al-integration

Digging a bit further, I checked his profile to see he had a healthy 684 reputation (not a bad member at all imo & probably a member for some months).

Here's his last post https://hashtalk.org/topic/12038/the-light-is-near/44 and it is a post in response to user 'vancefox's' reply to the almighty GAW's post (entitled 'Theres light at the end of the tunnel') in which vancefox comments 'Would be something good to mention during an announcement or something like that…' (which is a fair enough comment), to which KC6TTR harmlessly replies "You didn’t get the memo?? it’s OK, none of us did" for which (as this is his last post) he is banned.

Again, the almighty gaw_ceo's claim that you will only be banned for being disrespectful is pure bs. Its a case of whether he agrees with your opinion or takes a personal disliking to your post.

A week ago, that pool and LTC pool were both paying 0.00061

Whats happening? I dont know, but it sure doesnt look good, and was another reason I sold out today.

Zenpool & LTC pool were making 0.00061+ only a week ago (which was great if you had Primes that could DD) so a total of 0012+, but now with LTC down to 0.00028 & Zen @ 0.00035 your looking at a total of 0.00063 = half the profit.

Is it possible that payout decrease for zenpool is related to recent problems they had with the web site ?

Anyway, this is the official related topic on hashtalk forum, where they talk about contracts for zenpool with private companies...

Just for you. Just a lot more information on GAW.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GAWMiners/comments/2jmy7n/gaw_is_scamming_customers/

Charging the customers credit card surely isn't an accurate way of getting the stolen money back. On the other side, abusing a bug in the buying process,
dumping all the primes instantly on the market and repeating this process isn't legal too. If we got sent a false quantity of something in my country, we have
to keep the things for 2 years, in case the seller asks for sending them back. If I decide to sell em asap, the seller still can claim back the money from me.
I don't feel sorry for the people who got their credit cards charged, keeping the false amount of mh/s in primes would have cost them nothing.

You will lose money purchasing hashlets.

They don't seem to be an outright scam however. I've been able to withdraw a significant amount of BTC without any issues.

The "warehouse" as he calls it has power transformers and AC units outside. That's probably because they are afraid stored miners will melt or rot if not kept cool Wink
GAW doesn't have just 1 data center, they showed photos of 2 and I heard them claim to own 3. Those Bitmains would suggest this new DC is for SHA. Their scrypt DC runs these babies:

Panda full of shit as usual. GAW had 12 data centers back in September, not 2 or 3. Probably up to 24 by now because they've sold so many hashlets since then.
