Thanks I just worked on getting the cables in order on that rack.
Under the BitCrane is a BTC Garden V1 X2 x2.
I will have a review of it going live next week. :-)

That one is a cointerra product... but it is way overpriced, as most cloudmining is.

Awesome.  Now we've moved on to discussing freaking cloud mining in a "Pictures of your mining rigs!" thread.   Roll Eyes

I support this. There are other threads for cloud mining. Keep it to the subject. I want to see mining p0rn!

sorry this is all the mining pornz i haz now...i've posted everything else i have Tongue happy now?

They are legit Hashlets that were sold in a limited run to commemorate 9/11.
Pretty neat.

Here is a pic of my farm at its peak in mid August:

The datacenter I was using wanted to dramatically increase my hosting rates, so we terminated the contract amicably at the end of August. I was not willing to pay more for hosting with the mining profitability picture looking so bleak (falling BTC prices and rising difficulty).

The above hardware was running 27TH, and I have already sold it all on Ebay because I had no way to run it at a reasonable cost. I also received 11 more S3s when I learned I would no longer have hosting, so I also sold those on Ebay without even opening the boxes (I was going to replace the S1s with S3s). Electricity rates in Ohio are OK, but not great (~10 cents / kWh).

12 S2s
11 S3s
16 S1s
3 Jupiters
2 Dragons
2 SP10s

I may get back into mining at some point in the future, but right now the mining profitability picture looks really bad. I'm taking my time looking for another suitable place to run new hardware, and may get back in the game at some point in the future with dramatically more efficient hardware.

I actually like messing around with hardware, so I'm not interesting in having my hardware hosted at some far away location. That doesn't really seem like mining to me and I'd rather just buy BTC directly than have my equipment hosted hundreds of miles away.

I also don't think I'll buy anymore hardware that isn't at least as efficient as .5W/GH, so hopefully the S4 comes in with about that power efficiency.

Also, the folks that say you can't make a profit by mining are full of shit  Wink. Now is probably not the best time to get into mining, but there is a reason why the difficulty is going up as fast as it is...

Very nice setup Kendog77!  Nice, neat, and organized Datacenter setup.

Too bad you had to close up shop, but totally understandable considering Datacenter costs, difficulty, and just overall lack of ROI.

You sold all of that on ebay and didnt get scam?

WOW.....

That is still to be determined and the cost of doing business. I try not to sell a lot of hardware to the same person to spread my risk around, but have had to deal with some returns.

There are quite a few newbies on Ebay buying mining hardware that have trouble getting the miners to work, but I provide good support via email to try to get them up and running.

In general, there are some scammers on Ebay, but most people are honest.

Ebay also makes the buyer return an item and pay return shipping before getting a refund.

Right and they can return an empty box. As long as they show ebay their shipping slip, your money is gone.

Kendog very professional.  Whats your electric bill a month?

My datacenter hosting costs included everything. Needless to say, the datacenter I was using had not dealt with Bitcoin miners in the past, so they had no clue that I would use as much power as I did. They were not charging me enough and were losing money on the deal.

After this experience, I also think that using a datacenter for mining is not a great idea because datacenter costs are just too high. Miners don't need access to things like redundant power and internet, and those items just increase costs.

The most efficient mining setups I've seen just consist of a big bare bones warehouse with access to adequate enough cooling to keep the hardware from failing and a lot of cheap power.

Datacenters are WAY overkill for mining.

Did you even read my posts? I was getting a great deal from the datacenter, and would have stayed there as long as I could if they didn't try to increase the price I was paying!

Offtopic, but how much did you pay per kW?

~10 cents/kWh, but it was not a sustainable business relationship. After speaking to the datacenter, it was obvious that their costs were significantly higher than that, so I didn't feel good about the whole arrangement and decided to leave. I was very surprised to learn that the datacenters costs were as high as they were. I would have thought they could have gotten a better deal on industrial power, but I also understand that power is only a portion of a data centers costs.

I actually did negotiate a deal with another local datacenter for ~15 cents/kwh, but decided to pass on that and sell all the hardware instead. I would have had to commit to a 1 year contract, and highly doubt that paying 15 cents/kwh will leave me in a very competitive position going forward.

Thanks very much for your openness and candor about your mining experience. I think 27 TH/s is a substantial mining effort, and something I'll never see on my own. This is an approximation to a "big time" mining operation, with a lot of insight that you won't get from any body else. It's becoming more and more clear to me that "power cost is king" in terms of mining long term.

Thanks again!
