Everyone keeps saying this, but apparently people here can't read. Remove the IMG tags when you quote an image. Everyone gets tired of scrolling through the same images we've already seen 3-4 times.

LOL, is that romex? It looks a lot like 14-2 or 12-2 with ground.

winner!!
that looks cool.
did you make the outer casing yourself ??
either way.. you win. just a shame I am not a judge in this :/

Well now that that's over, back to the matter at hand...  Grin

This is a GPU rig I'm building (and will use for more than just mining) but for some reason when I add the 3rd GPU cgminer can't find it for OpenCL on the ADL monitoring works.  The next 2 slots open are both x8 and the 3rd x16 is hidden under the right GPU (nice design of the board) but it says it supports 4 Way CrossFire.  I'm going to try Windows today right now it's Xubuntu... with the 2 GPUs it hashes at 7GH/s on Blake256....

I took a couple of videos of my quiet rack cabinet for the Spondoolies-Tech thread, as I had people asking how to quieten an SP10:
UCoustic rack cabinet part 1
UCoustic rack cabinet part 2

Run a Bitcoin node, support the network.

Yes, the farm is running in a local data center, and uses ~30kWh. Each cabinet has two 30A 208v outlets. I outgrew the power and cooling capacity of my house a couple of months ago, and it would have been way too expensive to add more cooling and power to my house.

I started the farm with 3 Jupiters back in December, and have been growing steadily ever since. My goal is to be up to 100TH by the end of the year.

I'm not buying anymore hardware until more power efficient, in stock hardware is available (~.5w/gh) unless it is dirt cheap and looks like it will ROI in 30-60 days. Everything looks a bit overpriced at the moment and the difficulty is not leveling out like I had expected.

I suspect my next hardware purchase will be the S3 in July. The SP30 looks really good, but I'm done with the pre-order game after bad experiences with BFL, KNC, and Terrahash. Non refundable pre-orders don't sit well with me.

Curious, why are your S1s arranged 2 wide instead of 3 wide?  Seems like you could fit 3 side by side in a 19inch rack.

Curious, why are your S1s arranged 2 wide instead of 3 wide?  Seems like you could fit 3 side by side in a 19inch rack.

All three racks are maxed out on power, so there is no need to squeeze more hardware into each rack. Each rack can only power ~24 over clocked S1s. Also, I would need more shelves to put them in the racks three wide (I can fit 6 on one shelf the way they are organized now).

I acquired the hardware at different times, which explains why the racks contain a mixture of hardware in different positions.

If I was re-organizing all three racks from scratch, I would put the hardware in them differently, but I can't justify the downtime to re-organize given that everything is running well at the moment. I also need to be very careful where I plug things in so I don't overload a single PDU or outlet.

Damn, love the rack setups.
My question for everyone with these huge amounts of equipment, how do you afford it?
My financial situation isn't one where I can plop down over $2k on an S2, let alone racks full of them.
I think I've almost broken even on my S1 and no idea if I've come close to breaking even on my stickminers (haven't calculated that cost out).

Early adopters I guess.

I got hacked by some Syrian faggot and now I have negative feedback.

Mining is all about grinding it out day in and day out. No-one is going to get rich overnight by mining, and most folks will do better by just buying BTC directly and holding it.

I started mining in March 2013, and eventually put ~10k in fiat into GPU rigs. I ran those for a few months until GPUs were no longer profitable, and then sold them all and started switching over to ASIC rigs at the end of 2013.

I have invested a substantial amount of the BTC I mined into more hardware, but it also helped to hold a good amount of BTC when the price spiked at the end of 2013. I mined a good amount of coins when they were in the $100 range.

There is also a lot of overpriced hardware available to buy, so it pays to be patient and only buy when the price of hardware is right in BTC terms. Even the best rigs on the market can be poor buys if they are overpriced. For example, I bought some S2s at $1.65/GH, and some SP10s at $2/GH. The SP10 is a better mining rig overall, but the S2 was a better buy that is more likely to ROI due to the lower cost even after taking the difference in power consumption into account.

My worst hardware purchase by far was on some ASICMiner block erupters back in 2013. Almost immediately after I bought them, BTC difficulty spiked and it became very obvious that they would only mine back a small fraction of what they cost, so I immediately sold them to cut my losses. My best hardware buy was on 3 KncMiner Jupiters that have mined back at least a couple times what they cost (in BTC terms).

Each BTC price spike makes it more and more expensive in fiat terms for new folks to get into mining. If the price of BTC spikes again, folks that don't either own BTC or mining rigs are going to find it very expensive to get into the mining game. What do you think will happen to the price of mining hardware in fiat terms if the price of BTC spikes to 1-2k over the Summer?

If you want to play this game, I recommend buying hardware now if you think it will ROI in BTC terms in 3-4 months (be sure to include power costs). If you don't think it will ROI in 3-4 months, buy BTC and hold it until you think hardware is available that will ROI in 3-4 months. If the price of BTC spikes and you own BTC, hardware suddenly becomes much more affordable in BTC terms...

Tnx for this post. Explained this game rly well. Im looking to enter this game. But dont have much to invest. But i have free electicity so i think i can make some profits.

Does anybody have or know where i can find some miners that are no longer profitable coz of power eficiancy , they should be rly cheep ? Right? And they will work for me coz i dont have power cost to take into account.

Thanks for the info.
I started a little late in the game and bought a set of 9 USB ASIC miners with an Anker hub earlier this year..
I managed to sell off the miners at a reasonable cost and buy some AntMiner U1's.  As the cost of those dropped, I bought a couple more, then bought a U2, another 9 port Anker hub (the hubs were cheap enough and I will always have a use for a good USB hub), then ended up buying a couple of batches of U2+.  I've got a new heat sink setup for those almost ready and will resistor mod all the U1 and the one U2, and measure the resistors on the U2+ to see what values they're running.

I've put heat sinks on every chip of the S1, as well as the voltage regulators.  I'm doing the same with the USB sticks as well.
With the heat sinks, enclosure I built, and secondary fan, I've got it overclocked to 393.75 and it runs with 0.8% HW error or less and the temps, even in the summer heat, hit about 48C and it just keeps chugging along.  In the first month it's probably had a 50% ROI.

The thing is, each time I have enough Bitcoin, I turn around and convert it to dollars to pay some of my credit card bill (not because of the miners, just need the cash to pay it) so I'm not hanging on to BTC long enough but at the price I'm getting, with BTC ~ $450-$470 USD, the extra couple of hundred that has gone to the credit card makes a big difference.
