but, what's happen on burst price ? collapse again ?

Yeah, a couple of buy walls got dumped into.

Now we have an 8BTC wall on polo at 112. Let's see if that one will hold.  Smiley

It depends on how much variance you are willing to accept.

With 10TB it could probably go a week or more without a single block. Even with 50TB there are day when you will end up empty, although it's pretty rare.

OK. Thanks for answer.

I'm working on the website with Pottu(maybe?) while Irontiga is busy.  Anyone want to help us write up some of content?  Or help with the site?  I want to make sure we have something professional looking.  I've got a sketch of what I think it'll look like but would be nice to have help making it happen.

The website is one of the first things people see when checking out the coin, so seems particularly important to me.

Particularly wanted:

I'm looking for a paragraph on why Burst is ASIC resistant (I can write up something close enough)

Also a good description of how Proof of Capacity works on the checking side of things, as opposed to the plotting side.  Basically a description of the algorithm.

What about this?

X11 uses 11 rounds,
      X13 uses 13 rounds,
            X15 uses 15 rounds,
                  X17 uses 17 rounds,
                        BURST uses 4098 rounds!

372 times darker than Darkcoin and 20x more energy efficient (assuming a 200W GPU and a 10W hard drive).

ASIC Resistant:
A BURST ASIC would require 4098 more cores/threads than today's Scrypt ASICs and draw MUCH more power.

Can someone confirm if some or all of these facts as true?

4098 / 11 = 372

Nice, but what is "darker" referring to? Afaik, "dark" in Darkcoin signifies the alleged anonymizing technique and not the x11 algo per se. In this respect, Burst isn't dark at all: it's as transparent as BTC.

wplotgenerator.exe crashes immediately upon startup and I can't figure it out,

Windows 7/ i5 2500k

wplotgenerator 1xxxx 0 800000 1932 4

Thanks in advance.

Are you double clicking the .bat or the .exe to run the generator?

I'm running it via commandline and I get a "Has stopped working message."

Absolutely, hence "let's see"  Wink Are you mining Burst, Equate?

Weird, that should work (even if it's an odd stagger). What results do you get running a bat.-file with 2 threads and 1000 as stagger? Also, you will probably get faster responses at https://burstforum.com  Wink

"Darker" can be swapped out for "more anonymous." I never really looked into the workings of Darkcoin to know its details.

I also started with "algorithms" instead of "rounds," but BURST uses 4098 rounds of the same algo versus 11 rounds of different algos. This makes the comparison indirect, but the point is that an ASIC would probably need a lot of parallel(GPU-like) cores versus the 11 sequential (CPU-like) cores needed for X11. I need a little clarification on this point. BURST uses 4098 rounds per nonce or 4098 rounds per plot? From past posts, I think it is 4098 rounds per nonce.

Same, crashes right away. And the question has been asked about a week ago on that forum without an answer https://burstforum.com/index.php?threads/new-plotter-for-windows.114/page-2#post-3322

Java tools should work out of the box. I've also hacked dcct-tools to work on Mac (contains much faster plotter):
https://github.com/r-majere/mjminer.git

Also working on my own miner rewritten from scratch which will support Mac, but it's a few weeks until completion.

Okay guys, for some reason I'm having an issue with my plots and renaming them correctly...

Can someone give me the correct division formula to rename the plots so they don't get the read errors, and will work on blago's miner?

Thanks!

With Windows I just take the size of the windows file and divide it by 256.  So if my windows plot is 256,000,000 in file size then the plot should be named "account number"_"plot start"_1000000_"hash size (which when optimized to the max should also be 1000000)"   123456789_123456789_1000000_1000000 as an example of a fully optimized 256gig plot.

256,000,000 is 1000000
512,000,000 is 2000000
1,024,000,000 is 4000000

etc, etc.....

Yea, I thought that was what I did, but for some reason Blago's miner is still skipping the plot files.

So still thinking about getting into poc, but I'm still rather confused by the process even after reading guides.

Does using more then one GPU increase plot speed? Do you only need one to really do it well? What are the CPU requirements? Can you use a onboard GPU for GPU plotting?

After you plot it doesn't use the GPU anymore correct? If you have more then one drive hooked up to the same computer, do you need more then one instance of the program open for each HD? Can you plot on one computer and then transfer the HD to another to have it run? What are the feasible limitations of storage on one computer (can you have a bunch of USB HDs hooked up to hubs and be fine)?

You cannot plot with more than one GPU per plot. You can, however, use two GPUs to plot two plots at once.

Yea, after you plot, you no longer use the gpu for anything, that is until someone codes a faster miner on GPU (something that could maybe alleviate CPU usage, but it's not like other GPU miners, because the power is still in the data (plot files))

You can plot on one pc and move the hdd to another to mine, yes. Just make sure you plot with the same account ID, and DONT OVERLAP NONCES.

You need a good amount of RAM if you're going to mine on a bunch of space on single machine.

Here is a guide I wrote, that is still a work in progress, as I'm going to explain how to use other miners and plotters eventually, but it'll help you get started!

If you move it to another computer, it has to replot or is initial plotting different then the plotting you mentioned after moving it? Or is that like a consistency check?

What sort of hardware do you need for GPU plotting or will integrated suffice? I saw ram mentioned, does the CPU speed matter?

How do you make sure nonce's don't overlap? How would they overlap if they're on two different drives?

If you're solo mining, is it better to have a bunch of drives in raid so it will have a bigger plot and thus be more likely to find a solution?

If you have a bunch of hard drives hooked up to a computer that you want to plot on do you need a instance of the program running for each one?

Thanks for the answers BTW.

TO MINERS ON BURST.GA -

Messing around with settings on burst.ga server, so you may notice random disconnects during the next few minutes.

nothing to worry about, just improving the crash-restart features of node, and making it into a more successful crash scenario. Due to weird issues with node crashing in the last few days.

Thanks for the answers BTW.

You do not need to replot when moving.

I used a nice 270x to plot, and it worked nicely.

nonces do not overlap if you make sure you understand how they work, posted in my guide above.

I would say do not do RAID, unless you don't care about one drive failing causing the whole setup to fail.

It depends on the miner you're using, I just added instructions for Blago's miner in my guide, that one only needs one instance. The java miner needs multiple instances.

I'm looking for a paragraph on why Burst is ASIC resistant (I can write up something close enough)

Also a good description of how Proof of Capacity works on the checking side of things, as opposed to the plotting side.  Basically a description of the algorithm.

I'll take a crack at this.

Thank you!  You too vipervince2002!

One other thing, would anyone here be willing to run a mailing list for the website? Mailing lists are good for regularly reminding people that we exist, giving them updates, and giving them reasons to get excited about us.  If you don't have any experience here, but want to help, let me know and I can discuss it with you a little bit.  Could even just be once a month give updates, and the occasional update when a big new feature is being released.
