Before you delete blk/index.dat try at least one wallet re-start (if you have not already) just to confirm that it is hanging at the same block height.

Thanks - restarted the wallet twice, both times stuck at the same block 458314.
Re the full resync., having deleted peers.dat, blkindex.dat and the database folder, do i need to delete and reinstall the bootstrap.dat file before restarting the wallet or can i use the bootstrap.dat file that's already in the folder?
Thanks again to you and Bitstar_coin for your help.

Just drag/drop the original bootstrap.dat file back into your folder & launch. (I ran the full sync about 8 hours ago and it worked well, no need to restart)
Note - You can see your progress in the appdata/roaming/Bitstar folder as it reads from the bootstrap file.

Apologies - I get easily confused - just so I'm 100% clear, these are the steps I should be taking:
(the wallet is already backed up)
1.delete peers.dat, blkindex.dat and the database folder
2. delete the existing bootstrap.dat file from the folder
3. drag and drop the original bootstrap.dat file (i.e. from my download history) back into the folder
4. launch - which, AFAIK, I can only do by restarting the wallet.
Correct?
Thanks.

That is correct. You can check progress as soon as you start your wallet. Just go to the folder where you placed the bootstrap.dat You will see blk0001.dat & blkindex.dat size increase.

Thanks - noted I'll post again when it's been done and the wallet (finally/hopefully!) resynched.

bootstrap should now be called bootstrap.dat.org after its used. you would need to rename it back again for it to process again. If that still doesn't work Please zip up your debug.log and email to info@bitstarcoin.com

Yes, that's all correct. I've found one node stuck now, so looking into it, it appears a orphan block is causing it, so will push a checkpoint to help syncing.

Yes, that's all correct. I've found one node stuck now, so looking into it, it appears a orphan block is causing it, so will push a checkpoint to help syncing. Stuck node now working after bootstrap resync, all seed nodes now working normally. If you are stuck, it does appear a full resync is required as you are stuck on a orphan block so further blocks are stopped from downloading. Edit: to save any panic, bittrex is currently syncing their wallet.

My wallet now resynched and up to date (last downloaded block was 463472) and balance correctly showing, including a recent deposit from Bittrex. Thanks for your help.

Hi, I am wondering if I have been missed out on a payment /payments from the multipool as I mined it from 5pm my time Monday last week to 5pm Friday, as well as a few hours of Saturday/Sunday because I had it as a fall back while I was mining another pool.
Thanks.

Hi, payments were delayed due to the sync problem, they will go through today.

Hi, payments were delayed due to the sync problem, they will go through today. Thank you. Slight extra delay so I can give users some free coins in the payment

Staking question: I've moved all my Bitstar coins into one address (the other addresses all have a balance of zero now). When I start staking again, will the new coins that are created in the process get distributed across all my addresses, or will they only go to the one with all the coins in it?
Also is there a way to simply "delete" an address with a zero balance that I'll never use again?

They should go back to the same address. You can't delete an address, but you could start a new wallet.dat and then import the priv key from the address you want to keep.
