It`s been over a year since i had my wallet open so i downloaded the latest fast start pack, but when i copy the files blk0001.dat, blkindex.dat and the database dir and try to reopen the wallet it gives me a error saying Error initialising database enviorment. It say`s i have to delete everything in the roaming dir except wallet.dat but that makes it resync from beginning and that would take weeks to complete. Am i doing something wrong with the fast start pack? I have never had any problems doing this before.

I have found a problem with the wallet.
After months I have managed to open the wallet.
I opened it and unlocked FOR STAKING ONLY
I sent coins to another address without being asked for my password again.
Normally it should ask me for my password.
Windows QT v1.4.0.0-adgr-fs

A month later I am trying to open the wallet and again I get errors.
Now, I have to delete the whole blockchain and start from the beginning.... AGAIN!!!
DUH!!

I think you are asking for something which is not possible. OPEN YOUR WALLETS Huh?
Every time I want to open my wallet I have to delete and resync the whole blockchain.

Hi all. I have news that is my own experience. From early days of bits I have been running all of my wallets with internet connection that is behind Internet Provider NAT. Under these connections, usually 3G and 4G mobile connections you dont get direct connections by opening modems NAT rouling from its configuration page ie. 192.168.1.1 or something else.

Well over month ago I got normal ADSL connection with public ip and now I am able to open NAT ports to all my wallets and now I am having more connections to network than ever. For Bitstar now 9 connections and its usually over 12 to 14 connections. Before this change I had 3 connections.  By opening Nat you can also download blockchain faster.

I hope this helps.

Personaly i have never had any problems getting connections to the network i have 15 atm. My problem is that the download of the blockchain is not consistens, it will download a few hours then hang for a while then start again, this has been a problem from the early days of the BITS wallet for me anyways. Any other wallet like BTC and LTC is downloading the blockchain consistens with no hangup so i dont know why why i have so many problems BITS wallet. And so far my wallet have been re downloading the blockchain for 4 days now been running 24/7 and stil needs to download about a year of blocks, i wish the fast start pack worked Sad

Alsow i have noticed http://bitstarcoin.com/ have been down for days now and if you go to https://www.blockexperts.com/bits# you can see the last block is 1670717 witch is 3days ago now, what is happening with BITS is it getting abandoned or are things being looked into? some updated info would be nice on whats going on.

BITS has been left dormant for quite a while now. (and BATL also)

Network is unstable as the block times vary a lot. Been like this for ages.

I hope we hear something positive from the dev to both coins soon.

I can't sync neither and my last block is also 1670717 (1 active connection).
BITS and BATL lack communication...

Finaly after 5-6days of 24/7 downloading the blockchain from beginning everything seems to be running correctly so far, and after being away from over a year i must say my first stake impressed me 1/3rd of what i had in my wallet Grin

Currently BITS is on block 1674090 as of date 07/08-2016 time 00:37:43 and comparing to https://www.blockexperts.com/bits it seems like their site is not showing correct info or not updating at all.

I can confirm that withdraws from bittrex works fine too as i managed to transfer the BITS i had there to my wallet with no problems at all. I currently have no BITS at poloniex so i cant test that.

I have always run off a ADSL+ connection but ppl having connection issues this could verry well be the problem youre having with the routing.

Would you like to do a getpeerinfo on your wallet and tell us which peers you have connections with?
You go to your wallet, Help, debug window, console and type getpeerinfo and hit enter.

Bitkokos2: I noticed that on your post field inbound shows false. Have you opened your client port TCP and UDP through NAT? Even getting one connection with inbound as true means that your ports are open. Check your your other eallets if they are similar. If you want help how to open ports check from google running bitcoin full node. That gives great start. Of course we help you too in any questions.

I am not sure if false means that the connection is not established as I only had those 3 peers and the blockchain synced, and gave me staking.
I have NAT (port forwarding) UDP and TCP enabled for bitstar through my router for over a year.
I have tried with firewall both windows and another one which are OFF.
Turned off the antivirus etc.

Been doing some testing, now synced 2 windows wallets from scratch they had about 15 peers each, and now half way through 2 Linux resyncs.

May be worth deleting your peers.dat

Will reply more if I see anything odd, but so far so good

Hi, I have found my wallet that I had since 2 years ago, a wallet.dat file, I would like to download the client and sync it to stake some coins but im too paranoid to downloaded to .exe from mediafire website.

How do I compile the source code in windows?

Can someone answer this?

I also want to recover my wallet.dat file, but how the fuck are you trusting an exe in some media sharing website? Theres not even a hash to confirm its the same file that the OP uploaded.

So tell us how we compile the code?

Send the file to www.virustotal.com
It will give you the hash

On linux I used Qt to compile from sources. On source files root folder has Qt project file and by opening that. Maybe that will work on windows.

To compile windows, you will need a qt4 setup and many dependencies, please search the bitcointalk forums on how to compile windows wallets, its a long winded process.
