Has any nonBTC-USD pair ever seen volume > BTC-USD any given day ? (Ripple, LTC, DOGE,ETH only probables I suppose)? Will be nice to see it for XMR Edit: Also seems to stabilize around .015 for now before the next legs. Get in or post about how you sold off to make a mockery of yourself in public eye (away from the wife)

Funny to see all the big talking trolls out, but next to no shorts on the books Still riding some short loans above 0.5% from way back. Someone not attending events? Or just sweating with fingers crossed for... what?

Sold all my XMR @ .0121 avg, 572btc worth. Will buy it all back at .005 The fact that you could do that now (572 btc sells) without tripping the market on its face is awesome. Yeah, there was not even that amount on the whole buy side for ages.

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's. This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

Simple question and yes, I have looked around.
Can I make a paper wallet (generated offline) and then recover it using MyMonero? Or just use the spend keys without a wallet?
I am on Mac and cannot use simple wallet, bitmonerod etc - I can't do terminal / command line stuff either.
I have tested sending a couple of XMR to an offline paper wallet and sure - it works, but just found I have no way of getting it back. I have all keys - but need to make a wallet to recover to - and I just can't.
Pointers appreciated as I really need to get my XMR offline and safe in as cold a storage method as poss. Apologies for being an idiot - but I cannot code and have never owned a PC...
Don't laugh and I know I shoudl look elsewhere, but I have spent hours and cannot find a simple solution (for me).
This is the best and safest way: https://getmonero.org/knowledge-base/user-guides/Offline_Backup

Can you sit back and wait just a little longer for Soon TM? GUI should ease your way, though I managed to figure out the CLI, despite my general lack of compooter experience. Just dive in. there's lots of help here when you get stuck.

You can use this guide to securely generate an offline cold paper wallet: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/48cgmd/an_extensive_guide_for_securely_generating_an/Note that this guide is based on the guide magico linked (which was created by Fluffypony), but with a bit more explanation, videos, and screenshots of all the steps. And yes, you can recover it using MyMonero. However, it will cost you a 10 XMR import fee.

Not just me, either! https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/2ec7nf/osx_simplewallet_instructions_unclear_make_gui/EDIT: I will wait for the GUI I guess - but for anyone on Mac, it's Mymonero or nothing! That's a 2 year old post you're referencing, kurious. Monero Core (0.9.4) has come a long way since then and I find the CLI very stable on OSX to be honest. I'm running it on El Capitan. No bugs. The only time I have problems is when I upgrade boost and need to resync my wallet cache but the average person isn't doing that. You should be able to download the binaries and get started right away. If you're up to trying it again I'd be happy to answer any questions https://getmonero.org/downloads/

I just worked out how much it was worth now and don't feel quite so blasé about any more

I am not stupid, but have never done Command Line stuff as I have no code (or even PC) background. I made a test wallet on the offline generator this morning and tested it. All fine, but 'recovery' is another thing altogether. I have most of my BTC in laminated paper wallets in a safe and it feels good. But I really went for XMR and it's now worth "way more BTC than my BTC" if you get my drift. I am humbled and grateful for your offer to help but I will try not to call it in

Steem and ETC in the reaview mirror. Next one, LTC. Theres room until no.3-2 in marketcap short term
Capitalization wise LTC was always goal for Monero. And goal that we all knew will be achieved. Only question is it is a matter of weeks, days or maybe even hours. 70k btc 24h volume. Is that a first, or did it happen during my nap, as well?
Is first but will go up for sure. We may hit 100k BTC of daily volume.

Ok, well if you want to move funds to cold storage without using simplewallet, you can use moneroaddress.org (or this: https://github.com/moneromooo-monero/monero-wallet-generator) Generate the address on an offline computer and save the seed and private keys (the seed is all you need to restore the wallet, but might as well save it all). Use the viewkey to check that your funds have arrived at cold storage address using this: http://xmr.llcoins.net/checktx.html

Yep. That is exactly what I have done - and followed all this no problem. It needs no CLI, all makes sense and I don't need simple wallet. It was recovery that stumped me. Getting the test XMR funds back out - then it gets tough, you do need to use the terminal command line and have simple wallet to recover. Even MyMonero recovery requires SW to work. But I will spend another day with my G/f watching me on the computer with a frown on. It will cost me flowers and chocolates - at least

If there is a drop before Sept 1st then it will be very brief imo. The upside is still much greater than the downside at the moment. We know Monero can support a price of approx 0.003x without any of this darknet market adoption. When you consider the size of the total darknet markets the rise to the current price of 0.007x seems relatively small to me.
I think anything in the 0.0065-0.0075 range is a good buy at the moment, post Sept 1st I guess all bets are off.
Not the worst call I've ever made. Expecting to see 0.0175-0.0185 in the near future. If 0.02 is breached decisively I could see 0.035 developing within the next 2 weeks. I think a crash below 0.012 in the next few days is very unlikely.
