I made an xmr deposit to poloniex about 6 hours ago.  They still list it as pending at 7 confirmations, haven't credited it to my account.   Now xmr deposits are disabled at polo.
What's going on?
Are monero transactions going through, or is this just a polo problem?

Monero transactions are going through. Many of them. I don't know if it is a new record (ignoring spam attacks) but it is impressive.

Polo has been screwed up for many hours.  XMR deposits disabled.  I made a deposit before polo disabled them, polo shows it stuck at 7 confirmations.  It must have dozens by now.
When I went on the trollbox to ask for help, one of the mods threatened to ban me.
And yes, of course I opened a ticket.

troll box is a disgrace, seems lots of XMR haters warning off new enterers. From well down all the way up.

I hear XMR is a scam coin, its a crowd fund project, its a bull trap set up in advance etc. facts are not important.

Is there any news why XMR is going very high? This has come as a surprise for me because I have missed it in the news. Maybe this is a pump and dump?

Maybe the coins are blacklisted? Cheesy

They're called troll-boxes for a reason.  I find the best thing to do with it is shut it off....I really don't need the thoughts and declarations of some teenage stoner.

Read back through the last 20 pages or so, most of it is there (adoption by darknet markets, impending conclusion of various dev projects, increased public awareness).

Wouldn't be surprised if Monero is the next Bitcoin. I just bought quite a bit. I have never been really been a Monero Supporter until now.

And another thing.  I have the viewkey of the wallet it was sent from, tx id etc.  How do I look at the transaction on the blockchain?  I don't have simplewallet.

So what's next? Is this grow for real?
It's too big (in my eyes) for a pump, people continue to buy, there were some good news too...
Or is this the real start for a grow to a (deserved?) 2-3 figures price?

And another thing.  I have the viewkey, tx id etc.  How do I look at the transaction on the blockchain?  I don't have simplewallet.

Get a light wallet that connects to a public node, it may work.

Is there a way to use a blockexplorer?  I am traveling with a mobile device in Ukraine, using McDonalds wifi. Nothing I can really do.

Is moneroaddress safe and proven? Have there been any hacks?
Would you be comfortable storing 10,000 moeneros (dont have that many, just trying to make a point)?

And how would you break up the moneros? Print out 10 different wallets and split it between them?

https://moneroaddress.org/

I'd say generate your own wallets offline with the official simplewallet client. Keep it in cold storage.

MoneroAddress is just as safe if you download it from Github and verify it. It has a better UI, hence more people use it. You can follow this guide:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/48cgmd/an_extensive_guide_for_securely_generating_an/

Also, it was made by MoneroMooo, who is Monero's top (code) contributor.

I sold 55% of my xmr today for a nice healthy profit. I'll buy back in a few months when the price has shed over 50% of its gains.

just wait for the news "about a currency that is better and faster compared to bitcoin" being used in dark markets that is untraceable and gives anonymity to its users.

panic will ensue and XMR will enter a new ALL TIME HIGH.

Bitcoin also started from sub-$1 one point. Especially the ride to $32 left no prisoners so good luck with your plan.

(I do advocate diversifying, but not buying back lower, because I think it increases the risk with no corresponding gain).

Can we get Wikileaks and Snowden to accept XMR?

Let's pose as outraged Chuck Schumer constituents in a moral panic over Alphabay, demanding Something Be Done.

With luck he'll hold a press conference blasting Monero, and aaww-way we go (to the MOON)!   Smiley
