@OrangeP I just checked and you have a point, I stand corrected.  But XMR is still roughly twice the market cap of Dash.

I am sure we will see some volume in China once they realise the superiority of the tech and the advantages.  

Looks like we could do with a listing on xBTCe in Malaysia though!  It's been a fair chunk of Dash's volume from time-to-time and it would do us good.

I think Dash is a good enough proposal and it's a thing of advertisement and lock-in effects which will decide the crown of anonymous crypto currency. If technical superiority would be the only long term factor, everyone should trade all their BTC into Litecoin for a start.

Monero is currently in the lead, but China might change that very quickly.

Also a thing I didn't even notice, even though I hold some coins there myself: mymonero.com has been down for almost 3 days reddit users say. This, of course, is very bad and may cause some people to panic sell.

Isnt this xBTCe Volume missleading ? I heard that there are some wrong data and the volume is far less for every currency there.

XMR > Dash. It might take longter to adopt since they dont use big marketing. But slow and steady XMR will spread and develop a real community.

They just don't care that much about all this marketing because they know that they do the right thing. They are ideologists and a lot of people are following.
It is more of a hold coin and not trade coin.
Although inflation is still big and there are miners/traders of course as well, but this will change in future as well.
And the base community is just stronger than ever.
I think no other coin but bitcoin has such a strong community like Monero.

Hype is over, no pumps on the immediate horizon, so speculators are selling off. I think a correction down to .012 is in the cards. Maybe lower, depending on whether Bitcoin climbs back to ~ $1000. Monero seems to rally in the spring, so I would guess that the next 2 months will be pretty slow, maybe a few minor pumps if we get interesting announcements.

The way Monero is behaving in the exchanges is showing bad signs. It looks like it has decoupled from bitcoin and if bitcoin starts moving and Monero price stays the same or go down against fiat that would mean a trend down is forthcoming. I am getting scared.

Why? This has happened over and over the past 3 years. Get used to it. Put on your seatbelt or panic sell and make me/us richer.

Edit - Sorry, but it's never been "coupled" with btc. it's moved the opposite more often than not. If you are in for the short term, you are bound to get #rekt, sorry.

I would disagree with you.  Over the last three years XMR has basically behaved like all the other alts and its value judged against BTC has moved appropriately as BTC's value has moved.  When XMR has changed its own inherent value ie its value against USD, this has provided a different value against BTC.

These sorts of relationships have become more tenuous since before the Christmas period and XMR seems to have become more reliant on sentiment (as pointed out by Kurious).

Over the last week we have seen XMR value being hammered from all sides (see my post a couple of pages back) and not even responding to improved sentiment. 

What scares me is that no-one here seems to see the beating and are trotting out 'cultist' stuff about having blind faith -- the BTC wall observer thread has been doing this for years now, I thought we were better than that.

I like your way of thinking and it is always good to be open to all opinions. That will make you more profit if you like trading altcoins. Some posters here are blind and deaf and they will cry foul if they lose.

Anyway maybe it is time to stop looking at XMR/BTC and start concentrating on XMR/fiat? Bitcoin will always have its own sentiment and it seems XMR is becoming to have one of its own too, and the whale traders are more concerned about making fiat than accumulating bitcoins, I believe.

If Peter Todd says zcash is not good then I will follow him and not invest in zcash. He already mentioned in his blog all the technical limitations of zcash. The opinions of some of the known people in bitcoin are also not good. Some say it is nothing but a bitcoind clone with a built in tumbler that does not work well. Not well enough for regular and daily use.

Like all crypto, its more the private plaything of a small number of very rich investors and the private hope/dreams/aspirations of a very large number of poor investors who try desperately to second guess the first group.
