Good news: you can now use my site of questionable design to check receipt of RingCT funds as well (amount decoding).

http://xmr.llcoins.net/checktx.html

Also MoneroBlocks API may or may not be having some trouble sometimes parsing RingCT transactions with more than one input.

Interesting post that has gotten some traction in /r/darknetmarkets, and could lead to more darknet market use of Monero:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkNetMarkets/comments/5okud8/us_postal_service_hires_30_people_to_track_you/

The guy who originally posted the supposed link deleted his AMA.

OneCoin is the most anonymous cryptocurrency. Nobody has seen its blockchain, yet I have been told it will be a huge thing.  Huh

So anonymous that the blockchain doesn't even exist! How can you audit what isn't there?!?!?!

In all seriousness, I've heard a couple rumors about this coin but haven't seen any technical info.
If anyone has some links feel free to PM me so we don't have to spam a bunch of off-topic posts in this thread.

Seriously though...to all innocent, naive newbs: There are new and better anon coins coming. Ditch this shit while you can still get a relatively high price for it.

I was just going to ask if this coin is worth investing still, then I read your post lol Smiley

I'll take any freebies on offer Smiley

Friendly thread rules reminder

Non-substantive comments such as Monero sucks, Monero is a scam, Monero is great, Monero to the moon, etc. are considered off topic. Every post and reply should add to the discussion.

Just posted this in the main Monero thread. Subject for possible discussion:

//=========crosspost

I just had a bit of an 'aha' moment I want to run by you for consideration:

Following an r/monero discussion on the frequent occurrence of orphans in Monero compared to bitcoin.

Which at first sounded alarming, but on pondering what is actually happening with mining in the network for orphans to occur, it seems to me it is another plus for monero and its choice of mining algorithm :

Eg that the number of orphans could be used as a metric to measure decentralisation. This would have to be weighted by blocktime and hashrate (being an actual negative multiplier eg loads of hash and not many orphans = bad) and so on to represent a meaningful comparison of actual decentralisation and therefore resilience of the network.

here's the reddit thread:

Well, I am 99.9999 % sure it is just another MLM scam and a ponzi scheme. The Onecoin doesn't even exist in my opinion - not even in the computer of their CEO.

------

Now I am a little bit concerned on the rise of Darkcoin - it doesn't take that much to catch Monero marketcapwise, and knowing Darkcoin, when it goes up it will stay there and the dumps are unlikely (at least in a massive manner) so let's hope they cannot pump it much higher...

if you would be able to estimate the extent of adoption then it will only be a point in time where the adoption and emission curves intersect. Pretty sure Rpitila have all the numbers to do this if he did not. I'll ballpark it around January to March

Around 58,000,000 more and it will match Monero's marketcap.
Plus, liquidity is also improving on this Dash thing...

Yup, let's hope it will not catch Monero.

Probably nothing... My Monero stash is worth significiantly more than it was when I invested into it initially so I am not hurting (hundreds of percents since I was in since the early Poloniex days).
I am more worried about the currency competition point of view. There is no room for more than 1 anonymous currency (in my opinion) and it is better be Monero, isn't it.

so thats great if your stash worth 10x or more from initial investment. however   your investment today would worth 50% more if you bought  Dash when the price was at par with monero.

i guess monero competition is not against the fiat money Huh

heh... so monero is set to destroy other crypto at any cost ? because... "currency competition point of view"  Shocked

Some of my Moneros are worth more than 10 x from the initial purchase price, some significiantly less... I actually have bought some coins at 0.018-0.02 level as well. Not too many though.
Overall, the profit is hundreds of percents (average purchase price is sub 0.003).
That being said, bear in mind I do not own that many Moneros as some might think, my position is relatively small - I should have gone all-in Monero around 1 year ago, and prefertably leverage myself from toe to the teeth but that is just after math.

Monero competition is not against fiat - I agree. It is against Dark coin. Bitcoin is combatting against fiat money and it has done pretty good job recently. However, I am a bit against too trollish approach to Dark coin community because I bet no determined Dark bagholder will buy into Monero thanks to trolling... I might be wrong though. The correct approach would be perhaps more intelligent...?
