So Monero is the only privacy project The Octopus can't defeat.  Good to know.  Bullish!

I wonder how much of the recent Moonero Event was DOD/NSA/DEA Deep State insiders trading on the knowledge that only XMR offers better than military grade crypto.

Regardless, I expect moar mooon when this memo gets passed around in wider circles.

The Dash issue is quite a big deal. Unprecedented. I am surprised the price has held up.

All focus is on crazy speculation in the frothier cryptos atm, and people haven't yet woken up to the real issues. The re-ratings will come in due course.

RE: the Dash news, I'd expect it'll affect the price today as people wake up and hear this news info.

Personally I just heard about it from the link here, and I immediately dumped what little Dash(LOL) I was still holding.  [Yeah okay sue me but as long as it was going up in value, as much as I dislike it I was trying to keep emotions out of managing my crypto portfolio, and so I still held my nose and held on to some Dash (but yeah actually kinda enjoyed finally having a good reason to click that SELL button today LOL LOL) ]

Couldn't happen to a nicer coin  Grin

Anyone any thoughts on how likely a government level ban (China, US, whatever) is on XMR?

As it grows (in strength, threat and features) is it not more likely to be banned?

It would be very difficult for government(s) to ban something they dont control... they could shut down the on ramps (exchanges) and slow down adoption, but if monero is banned and harder to obtain it could push up the price. If they decided to ban monero.... how would they enforce it?

exactly its very difficult from them to regulate things that they cant handle if they will banned internet service maybe they can stop crypto's but
doing it one by one would be a hard things to do from them even they are very strong country, monero will continue and it won't be stop
unless things like this will happen.

No mater how price moves, up or down, I see everyday less and less XMR on Poloniex sell side. Now imagine when Hardware wallets kicks in. XMR sell side will start looking as DASH one with only few coins on sale.

I've noticed that on Polo. Has anyone followed the volume on Bittrex? How has volume changed there in the past few weeks? I suspect it has increased, and if so, what is your estimate of how much of the increase is new traders vs. polo exodus? Btw I've never had problems on polo other than it taking 6 weeks to get to Level 2.

I dont think talking about last few weeks changes much. Volume increased a lot in 2017. It did also in 2016. Some exchanges was ready for this and accepted all that volume. Some were happy with what they had and did not wanted to grow more.

I think Poloniex have way more traffic and volume as they had in January 2017. Difference is that this volume place them on 6th spot by volume on exchanges. In January 2017 would place them far on first spot. Maybe all this was part of plan to not be biggest exchange. In last 2 years they delisted way more coins then listed.

in general is is way better for Crypto to have 10 similar volume exchanges then one or few super exchanges.

The Dash News is old stuff already known for a few days so why should it do anything to the market today Wink

It takes time for news to spread and people to react.

For example, I'm online all day every day doing basically nothing but reading crypto-related news in-between my usual day-job activities, on all sorts of sites and from many diverse sources, yet even I -- totally plugged in -- only heard this Dash-exploit news just this morning (from the link here in this thread, as I said).

My reaction was to dump my coins immediately, and yes maybe I'm in the minority doing that (? or maybe not) and maybe "late to react" but multiply this anecdotal evidence example by a few tens of thousands of other instances over yesterday, today, tomorrow, next week etc... and there you go.

Good move IMHO.  Many of us here (in the *toxic* Monero community) have been dubious of Dash's security because of the multiple attack vectors all it's many 'features' present.  Dash is not quite the Rube Goldberg machine Etherium is, but they both suffer from this problem.  That and the fact so much of Dash's feature set has had little peer review and scrutiny.

Thanks for the support Smiley

Thinking it over now, however... although my first instinct was to flip ALL of the Dash(LOL) over into Moaaarr Monnneerrooo! LOL I'm trying to be detached and unemotional again about my total portfolio balance here Wink

Plain fact remains, honestly I am probably too heavy into XMR: and -- truth be told -- yes, *we too* did have that "catastrophic bug" issue last year (very elegantly and astutely handled by our devs, once again big thanks for that, gentlemen).

So as much as I love HoneyPony I do still need to *try* and stay diversified and balanced here.

So, quick poll here boys: what do y'all think kinda looks good at the moment OTHER than XMR for me to put some of this liquidated Dash money into?

I wonder how much of the recent Moonero Event was DOD/NSA/DEA Deep State insiders trading on the knowledge that only XMR offers better than military grade crypto.

This is not true at all, why would you think such a thing? Or did you just make that up because it sounded cool? With that being said all crypto will have to hard fork new encryption eventually and Monero Crypto is far safer than BTC so BTC will have to do it first therefor when it is indeed needed then it will be no surprise and should not effect XMR at all.

So Monero is the only privacy project The Octopus can't defeat.  Good to know.  Bullish!

Fiat for the moment would be my guess, try to hit a btc high point. I'm still convinced this is still in a bubble state and is not BTC floor. But I would guess the floor is not as low as most are calling it.

I would buy some SIA (my second loved coin after xmr) and AEON (the latter is not a diversification from XMR, this is more like a leveraged xmr), and keep some BTC of course.

Here in the US software is protected by the freedom of speech, so theoretically Monero couldn't be banned here in the US (it's also allowed to skirt some laws because it's not a "real" currency but a digital asset). -- As for China I have no idea, although I can probably guess they'd ban it if it were to start get in their way (although that isn't to say that it would actually stop the Chinese from using it).

I'm starting a technology blog T4CH.top, check it out!
