I am a longtime Monero supporter.  I bought within a month or two of the coin's issue in 2014, when Bittrex first listed it.  Monero is my biggest holding, more than any other crypto, and more than my dollar-denominated assets.  I had to get my bona fides out of the way because of what I am about to say.  And I want you to read and consider.
All the back and forth, including refuations posted by Monero people, are 99.9% motivated by partisanship.
Wake up and stop acting like kids in the schoolyard.
I come to this thread to read and communicate with people who understand crypto, and what I see is the same dreary tit-for-tat that infects every debate I'm following, whether it's core vs bitcoin cash, Monero vs Zcash, and all the rest of the small minded wrangling over crypto controversies.
Grow up, people.  There's much more to this than winning the argument.
I want to read something written in a tone of detachment.  A high-handed, superior tone, and the conviction of your own righteousness, counts for nothing with me.
God damn it.

I'll go ahead say what I'm sure others are thinking. Many of us do think we're superior, because we are. Sorry if that isn't politically correct enough for you, but the entire crypto space is a bunch of greedy scumbags jerking each other off, and XMR doesn't play along. We have the moral high ground and a lot of people hate us for it, because no matter how much they tell themselves they're making the world a better place, we're a constant reminder that they're a fraud.

Make no mistake, I definitely have skin in this game. But I sleep like a baby.

I can not tell why Moreno's price is so high. Can someone explain the reason for this to me?

Monero team had previously lied to their supporters. Did everyone forget that? Please do not forget everything, because forgetting some things can encourage liars.
Why is the Monero price so high? Because it's targeting the most valuable market in the entire cryptocurrency space, private wealth storage. Look at the Monero Github. Look at the Monero IRC. Both are far more active than any coins other than Bitcoin or Ethereum. Monero deserves to be #3 by market cap, at the very least.

As to what Fluffypony did, it was stupid, but it's pretty much irrelevant at this point. He apologized and said he won't do it again. Given how much he's contributed to Monero, I think the vast majority of the community has forgiven him.

i agree. i think monero deserves to be in the top 5 on the market.

monero team is spending overtime and it's normal for monero to rise as a counterpart to this work. i will continue to hold Moreno and I will be rich.  Grin

Forgive but never forget, i could bet my left toe on that he made a couple of yearly salaries from longing and shorting. And maybe he deserves that money but deceiving the community was pretty fucked up..  Cool

Beautiful! I'm pretty sure XMR is/was supressed by a big player for quite some time now, but with the recent increase in overall marketcap i think it's going to be much harder to keep it down. Up, up and away!

Yes monero will go up in value for sure, but it will  fade out of the top 20 cmcap. Monero will never reach mainstream adoption because of its anonimity. Bottom line:  other coins will outperform monero before fading to obscurity, while Monero just keeps on keepin' on.

The important aspects of privacy fall extremely short for monero. The way the community tries to ignore it is embarrassing.

These are your metrics? I'm embarrassed for you!

You seem to have a problem with embarrassment.

The FUD is coming pretty steady, that can only be a good sign!

On another note, the volume has dropped quite a bit over the last day or so and I'm wondering if this is the calm before the real storm?

Could this be a correction up to the next level? i.e. $120-$150

BTW... I hate the term "pump" especially, when Monero has been so oversold for so long.

I don't think anyone has posted this yet but, I think it says a lot about the future of Monero as a project and the long term value as a currency.

I already did in 2015 when I bought it hand over fist at 25c - 50c

Best investment I ever made.

If it wasn't for my unfortunate boating accident I would have made a million dollars from Monero by now.

LOL, oh man you guys... the general expectation of some XMR fireworks show this weekend is only being reinforced, IMHO, by the sudden appearance of so many obvious trolls here over the last couple days.

Before they showed up, I was only "thinking about" flipping some other coins temporarily into XMR just to ride this mini-moon (?) but now I'm pretty SURE I'm gonna do it.

Unfortunately I probably cannot permanently ADD TO my XMR stack, since I'm already at max comfort level (and have been, for a long time)... but the way the wind is blowing right now??  Can't resist!

My only remaining decision is: which other ALT (or ALTs) in my portfolio are most deserving of being unceremoniously DUMPED now (even if it's just temporary) in favor of this XMR play?

LOL

P.S. Update on my Vegas trip, managed to win back the initial lost $ after I posted here last time... and BTW it was only a couple hundred bucks at risk, so no harm really, either way.  I was about $80-$100 down for a while, but we ended up +$150 by the time we flew home... about $100 on me from the cheapo seats $5 blackjack game downtown at the old-school El Cortez, and +$50 my wife won on a slot machine... just in case any of y'all was worried about me, we're fine LOL Cheesy

Why is the Monero price so high? Because it's targeting the most valuable market in the entire cryptocurrency space, private wealth storage.

Speaking of private wealth storage, someone on Reddit noticed that there is an active Monero node in the Seychelles. You can see it here: https://monerohash.com/nodes-distribution.html

Last few pages are a good argument for modded threads. I don't get why you would come to the price speculation thread to troll. You obviously don't own any that's fine but is it worth raising your blood pressure to spin obvious FUD for no tangible reason? Go for a walk or do something worthwhile with your time. XMR and cryptos in general are way beyond people trolling a thread on BCT having any impact on the price, that's why loads of new coins barely even bother in this cesspool anymore. if you feel so strongly about it go and start a new thread about how shit you think XMR is and you can all circle jerk in there.

There's at least one good reason for people to troll in here: they're being paid to do so.
