KiXiNiT will argue that because it has happened repeatedly before, it can't happen again, but for the last 2 years running Monero has ~x3.5 Jan1 --> July 1.  And ~x8 July1 -->Jan 1.  Weird pattern, but start at Jan 1 2016 @ ~$0.50 and check the dates  Those are not peaks or floors, just snapshots.  So while $1200 by July and $10000 by year end fit this pattern, It wouldn't be a shock to fall off this pace somewhat.  $100k this year would be... well, it would be months ahead of schedule

24 hours ago I was watching for it to dip somewhat deeper, but it seems ain't nobody got time fo dat.  Volume so low it's almost off my top 10 watchlist on polo - that would be a new one.

2016 had an order of magnitude increase vs. BTC.  The year we got Hydrogen Helix, which improved usability by... an order of magnitude?  Probably an understatement.  2018 we get multisig, bulletproofs, hardware wallets, and much else under development.  Anyone else willing to accept another x10 vs BTC this year?  Several other coins have been past that range now, so it's not even unheard of  anymore to be 0.1+  Just a stepping stone.

BTW, I missed this discussion and it's pretty relevant to BP release date on mainet. I'd love to see a more indepth read on the various DEVs opinions on whether to roll out next HF or not. I'm wondering if it could be rolled out on something like AEON first as it is a real deal breaker if it turns out to be not as advertised (IOW compromisable or attackable). I'm also wondering why we have funding for bullshit that gets filled instantly but there is no Funding Proposal for Independent Review of such a CORE component.

No way! Tiny fluctuations in short time periods won't give you a good picture of the overall trend. Pull your perspective back a click or two, and give it a little time. 

Up, up, and still going up! Looking back, that "dump" on 12/14 barely registers on Monero's trajectory.
