So one thing I've noticed since switching from Slush to Kano with my T1's and T2T's is a massive reduction in HW errors on these miners. On slush, I had to tune over and over to try and get reasonable (less than 100k HW errors per board per hour) error rates. On Kano, every single tune performed by my miners results in dramatically lower HW error rates, in the range of 10-20k per day total! I can't explain it, but I've noticed the hashrates on my AB machines are higher on average with Kano than they were on Slush.

Probably because Kano knows how to run a pool Smiley

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

that is a lot of hw errors - with over 20 days of uptime on this pool, I have less than 2k hw errors per machine. However, my average hash rate was higher with these 5 machines on slush than here. Average on slush was between 71-73. here my average is closer to 69. But I am still pleased with mining here as my average payout so far is even with slush with potential to exceed it if we get a few extra lucky blocks per month.

As per the discussions in Discord since yesterday, it seems OK.
Slush seems to have bugs in their pool software and are trying to blame it on Bitmain Cheesy
Works OK here.

Since it was released by Bitmain, I've no issues with people using it.

The problems usually arrive when you use one of the many hacked firmwares out there that claim all sorts of silly things and won't have been tested properly, and not at all for block finding, and often are more like a virus than anything else.

Mine on!

I have it installed on several S9's (13.0 TH/s versions)- so far no issues. They are running at 74-77 C with average hash rate of 13.7 TH/s and with a .0007% HW rate after about half a day. I wish I had a way to measure the power consumption but I do not - I will just have to wait to see if my bill drops a bit lol.

I am curious to see about asicboost - have never used it previously so have to do some research as I have heard that you can do asicboost on the S9's

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I do see on the "Miner Configuration" tab a check box selection for "Low Power Mode" - is this what turns the AB on/off?

and is this supposed to lower hashrate along with lowering power consumption? or is it to increase hashrate while lowering power consumption? or to increase both?

Initial results for my S9 - 13.5 :

Showing an average of 13.9 - 14.1 TH,up from previous 13.6 TH, occasional realtime hash showing 14.4 maximum
Pretty good !

[Later Edit] : Seems to have stabilised somewhere around 13.6 -13.7TH. Actually pleased and surprised with this firmware Shocked
[Next day Edit] : The shifts indeed show lower shares, not really happy with a 15% power drop for so much less shares (around 2k less/shift,it seems),so switching back Cheesy
Might be great for people with a bigger hashrate, but for my only S9 it doesnt seem worth it,switching back to the old firmware Cheesy

Per Discord and my other threads... the net result is about a 15% savings in power at a SLIGHT decrease in performance when measured across 100+ machines.  It appears I have a number of miners that used to perform to spec now significantly underperforming (like 13.3TH with a 14TH box).

after a few more hours, the machines seem to running a little slower now. one is staying at 13.3 Typically, during the evening and over night they tend to run faster as it is cooler.

will need to keep watching - my pool average has dropped - used to be between 69-72 and now its 68-69 average.

I need to find a way to measure consumption - though I never measured them before so I wouldn't really have a good comparison.

I can say this, my shares have dropped on kano's pool. average was always usually between 4.2k to 4.5k but last 3 shifts are 3.8k to 3.9k

not sure if the drop in shares will be worth a few pennies savings on electricity. only time will tell as its been less than 12 hours I have had the new firmware running.

FYI for everyone on the pool:
I stopped and restarted the main backend pool at 12:51UTC until 12:52 UTC
All OK
Everyone will have failoved over to their miner pool2 or pool3 and then back again.
There was a problem with a very slow block change.
Hash rate is all back again.

how much ~time(days) is the 5Nd now?

The pool hash rate for the last day is roughly 223.44PHs which means the 5Nd 'ramp' is roughly 8days.

EDIT:  For anyone interested, you can see this anytime under Help/Payouts on https://www.kano.is/

guys, regarding asicboost patch on s9, as i tested with kano pool, the hashrate drops to 13.3-13.2 with LPM enabled, but antpool is fully compliant, what about this pool? anybody got the same results as on antpool?

I would trust Kano's implementation of ASICBoost over AntPool's. Some on Discord were talking about how they switched over to it, and it was compliant with Kano. I'll let them speak to the performance they were seeing though.

Basically, less power = less hashrate, which is why I'm going there opposite direction and boosting the voltage on mine since it's cooling off where I live.
