I'm sure not the only one here hosting at cryptoboreas, probably another thread on this topic but they shut down and landlord holding all miners. Thats where almost all of mine are and thus unable to mine here till this is resolved. By the time that happens, all my miners will be worthless. I know there are a few people with 5+ PH in miners also hosting there, what are we to do? Anyone have any more info or link to thread?
Apparently some of the smaller miners were going to be transferred to GND in Labrador City last week
(I've actually spent a few days at that GND datacentre that is quite literally out in the middle of nowhere)
I've no idea what actually happened with the transfer though,
but it would appear it hasn't happened yet.
The outage started around Aug-14 17:30 UTC

The people that chose to have their miners moved to GND are going to be have their gear moved very soon (like in a week). Most of the people affected chose to stay with us though and have their gear relocated to our other two shops.

Anyway, this problem has been resolved 100% and everyone will get back to hashing very soon.

If anyone has any questions please just e-mail us ( see our website) instead of posting on non official forum threads as you are not likely to get properly informed.

Note: I don't follow this thread so please don't ask me questions here. I just happen to randomly come across it and noticed us being mentioned.

Most people would not be happy about having miners doing nothing for a month ...

Not sure why you are telling me to not post in my own thread ...

100% means they are mining, they're not yet.

I was not addressing you directly.

Most people would also understand that it was beyond our control and not of our own choosing. Other mining shops in the area suffered the same fate. Most of our customers were understanding and worked with us to resolve this unforeseen problem, and it has been resolved.

This is all moot right now, so no point in talking about it. Moving on. Happy mining.

I prefer we keep them Smiley

Also it was only 327% which is expected, on average, over a large number of blocks, about 1 in 26.3 blocks (on all pools) to be worse than that.

As for the month so far, we're less than 1 block behind (0.36 to be exact) - so nothing to be concerned about.

I hadn't paid attention to that. Did 1fx leave?

Was there any stipulation to the giveaway, that you had to stay for a  certain amount of time?

Rules are all there in the first post.

... but you can't find a block while ramping down unless you are still mining Smiley
However, he has ramped down to below 2PH, so no giveaway for him on that one.
But he's on the way back up again.

Yeah, I thought he fell off for a short time but glad to see him back.

Hope he gets another once he's ramped up enough!

Edit: Dude?! Where'd he go again??? Guy's like a ninja!

Not sure if anybody else caught wind of this old thread out there, but I couldn't leave it without at least trying to set the record straight. Gotta defend the KanoPool honor, of course. Cool

The only way to 'lose' any shares/shifts on Kano's pool is if a block takes over 500% since the PPLNS is set to 5Nd (i.e. 5x the current network difficulty). In that specific case, any shares submitted prior to the current 5Nd will not be considered in the look-back period for anyone's portion of the new block reward. Exponentially more frequent, though, is the case that your shifts are being rewarded over and above 100%--something impossible with PPS pools (barring the interesting claim of Antpoo's 0% fee plus a 16% bonus).

And, just for the record, I started mining at KanoPool in January 2018 with an Avalon 6 (3.6TH/s), and I've been over the 0.00010000 BTC dust threshold since my very first reward. The first one was super close, but it was paid out just the same.

Finally, to answer your--and probably others'--question about ramping up to your miners' advertized hashrate: all hashrate--added all at once or increased over time--must ramp up over a full 5Nd until it 'feels' like you're instantly getting the full reward for your portion of the work. I say 'feels' since--assuming luck stays at 100%--you'll always get paid 5/5ths of your total work, but if you're still ramping up, you'll get 1/5 now and 4/5 later; 2/5 now and 3/5 later; etc.

*** The easiest-to-understand analogy I can give on how PPLNS works is how some employers used to withhold your first paycheck; however, even after you quit, you still get yet another paycheck--except with PPLNS, they would average how much you worked over the past five (5) weeks, for example. This is why the initial ramp-up scares miners into thinking they're not getting/losing part of their payout. It's just because they're probably still in the first 100% of the 500% look-back period and don't understand that even if they were to stop mining right then and there that they will still continue to get that same 1/5 payout for however many more blocks the pool finds over the next 400% (e.g. Four (4) more blocks = the remaining 4/5 of your reward).

Lastly, Kano is expecting to complete the accounting code and pay out dust by the end of this year. I'm sure the BTC is safe and sound until the time comes to pay it out. I wouldn't mine there if I didn't trust Kano.

Sincerely,
A Kano Shill

Is it just me or have S9's dropped A LOT in prices since I last checked ebay? I see some going for less than $300 with and without PSU. Those used to be S7 prices not long ago. What is going on? Did I miss something?

Yes, S9i 14.5th is only $361 new from bitmain. With a $55 coupon this makes the S9 very cheap now.
