well I'm going to give this place a go!!!
if it goes well ill move some hash power over

Thanks for pointing some of your rigs over here, xleejohn.  Very much appreciated for anything you point here.  I hope we can soon convince you to point the rest over here.  Just remember it will take approximately 4 full days to ramp up to full payout.  Once you have reached full payout, it would be beneficial to stick around for at least 2 to 4 weeks for a decent comparison.  Hopefully, you will be convinced to move the rest over after that 2 to 4 weeks.

Happy mining, Sir.

10 days is nowhere near a long enough sample size to make any determinations.  I've been running a test for an entire year on p2pool - comparing standard p2pool payouts to OgNasty's/Nonnakip's NastyPoP implementation.  That's a far better sample size Smiley.  Take a look at kano's pool vs some of the others over the past year and you'll get an idea of how it fares.

Yup-I know it takes more time to have the stats work in one's favour. (  For example, when you look at ckpoolmonitor.zachmonroe.com , the current 30 day average here is 0.00816446. Kano's long term average is the highest of any pool. So, I think a lot come here expecting to immediately do better than on another pool. However, after say 5 days, if they aren't seeing the same 5 day average ( ex: 0.00921269 by end of yesterday on ckpoolmonitor), they don't understand and don't say anything. They simply go to another pool. )

Anyway, I have seen your numbers. Also, I have followed many of you on a plethora of forums and have come to trust certain guys who have switched here in the last few weeks. So, I'm going to stay here a lot longer than i usually do when checking out a new pool

Well said...  That's why I mentioned in my PM's to others to give it a try for AT LEAST 2 weeks (14 days).  However, that may not be long enough for them to see it's better than other pools.  A month or longer for sure.

Some are in a situation where they feel they cannot wait long during a slow time here at the pool.  It's understandable...  In any case, if one feels they have to leave for whatever reason, I want them to know they are welcome to come back any time.

I follow you a ton. When i saw on the S7 forum that you moved over to kano, I switched that day.
Just un-boxed and set up 2 S7 batch 8s and pointed them here. Smiley

Thank you for pointing your rigs here, ATCkit.  All of us here at the pool appreciate it very much!

Congrats on the new S7's.  I imagine you've been looking forward to another fix...   Grin  "fix" meaning, like a drug...   Grin

Let us know what you think of the Batch 8 after you've had them up a couple of hours.

Happy Mining.

EDIT:  I'll say this, There are many worth following here in this forum.  Much to be learned here with links provided for other things to learn.  Even with behind the scenes politics of bitcoin and bitcoin mining.

It would be interesting to see a comparison between kano and say BTCChina Pool ( which might be the only other comparable pool).

For example:

If a person could run 10 THS on each for the same 10 day period, it would be nice to see them post their results.

Someone did study pools over a 12 week period and Kano.is was a top performer.  I would hazard a guess to say that the pool's performance has only increased since this study was done: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1059040.msg11941177#msg11941177

Had 'em up 2+ hrs. Going by the miner status and the pool,  they're running as expected. Smiley

We don't need beer, we need chicken!  Go have some chicken with that beer.

It seems here that we go about a day with nothing and then we hit a few in a short timeframe and then we go a day and then hit a few.

Clearly it's not quite that consistent but that just seems the general vibe since I've started here a number of weeks ago.

Just remember, for all the new miners coming in Smiley

The 5Nd means it takes that long to pay your shares.
The ramp isn't missing payouts, it's delaying them to reduce variance.

Your shares are rewarded in all blocks found in the 5Nd (currently about 4.5 days) after they are submitted.
Thus they get rewarded ~1/5 of their value per block found, with an expected average of ~5 rewards (if luck is 100%) in 5 blocks

That's simply how it reduces variance, each share's reward is averaged out over the (currently) 4.5 days after it.

I'll do a ckpool restart in about 14-16 hours (I'll post here again before I do it)
This will hopefully stop the few miner left who are throwing a large amount of hi diff shares at the pool and causing the exaggerated pool invalid rates shown in the top left.

I'm warning everyone well in advance this time so you'll know if your miners start beeping, why they did Smiley

It's the usual: most miners will see a simple reconnect in cgminer, but a smaller % of miners will fail over then fail back.
Just again to let everyone know, this will be coming up in an hour.
I'll post once more just before then.

Meanwhile Smiley
Pool has been powering along at over 5PH since yesterday (well 'my' yesterday)
The block change times have also gone down some more with -ck's changes in there to improve that also.
Still sending out work with transactions left, right and centre and getting good txn fees Smiley

No SPV and no Empty Blocks ... and super fast block changes.

No SPV and no Empty Blocks ...

It is too bad that this needs to even be stated. Mining Empty Blocks defeats the purpose of mining and thereby devalues mining itself. Mining is to continue the blockchain and verify transactions, right?

I don't have enough knowledge on the subject, but I don't understand what advantage anyone thinks they get by mining Empty Blocks. Even if it was 30 seconds quicker to get the work changed over, does it really increase their luck in solving it quicker than any other pool/miner?  Huh

I found an empty block once, I wasn't particularly looking for it and it just happened. I thought it just happened sometimes because you just happen to satisfy the proof-of-work and you couldn't force it or look for those only. Does this pool somehow refuse the 25 BTC if it happens to hit on one? Would anyone?

This pool would never, under ordinary circumstances, generate an empty block so your question is moot.  It only "just happens" if the pool software allows for it.  I am of the opinion, as are many others, that bitcoin itself should not allow "empty" blocks regardless of which pools are doing what, but that's another topic...

In the very early days of bitcoin there were very few transactions and it was possible that there were no transactions outstanding to mine into a block and there was only the block reward (which was 50BTC at the time). These days with ~10k transactions always pending, there is never a period where there are no transactions outstanding.
