It is indeed the transaction combination issue leading to high fees when using the (small amounts) of mined BTC I'm referring to.
I think I understand your workaround, although I would not know how to achieve this.

Can you please elaborate on this?

Let me try, using my approach as an example.

I have my wallet at gemini.com as my payout wallet here at Kano.is. All the payments go there and collect.
Once a month, when I get my hosting bill, I pay that bill (in bitcoin), transfer some to my bank account (to pay other cryto related bills) and transfer the remainder to my keepkey (hardware wallet) account.

When I need to spend bitcoin, I use the hardware wallet, and because all the incoming transactions are fairly large (in a relative sense, compared to my normal spend), I pay minimal fees to spend the coin.

I have tried different approaches and this one is currently working the best for me.

Really?!?

I've been pestering Canaan for a week for payment info and they STILL haven't given me a way to pay.  And yet you've already received your order?

That's nuts.

Brand new to mining, my Avalon has been warming up my attic for just over a week now, and already feeling the sensation of pool block findings, payout notifications, and Satoshis ending up in my wallet...
Love it!

Been searching this topic regarding the payouts, and the fee's when using the mined BTCs. My wallet gave me this warning: http://support.exodus.io/article/71-i-receive-btc-mining-payouts-why-are-the-fees-so-high.

Searching this topic I did not really found a good answer to that. Sorry if I missed it, but could somebody explain what up with all this? And how I can maximise the usage of my mined Satoshis?

Not sure what it's all about but what I can tell you is that you shouldn't pay a penny for receiving your btc!  Whatever Master Kano sends me is exactly what I get in my wallets!  Wink

Me personally, I give a btc address of one of my online wallets/exchanges, such as Coinbase and when I get the right amount on there I sell them if the price is good or transfer them to my Cold Storage Ledger wallet because there it is safe.

And welcome aboard if your planning on mining with us!  Smiley

Receiving is not the issue, Master Kano is generous ;-). It is the using of the very small received transaction which is the challenge. Also see gecox22's response to my question.

Are you avoiding these combination fees with your Kano2Coinbase2PersonalWallet way of working?

PS: I indeed plan on keeping mining with you guys. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Yes my friend that is exactly how I avoide these fees!  At first I tried to send directly to my Cold storage Ledger wallet but when I tried to send them from the ledger in order to sell them it took like 24 h and the fee was high too I  which I didn't like so I wrote to Ledger support and they told me that the problem is because I'm sending the Mined funds directly to my cold storage, which I shouldn't be doing and advised me of sending my mined coins to some exchange first before having them transferred to my Ledger so I did that.  Now everything is working like a charm!  And don't worry about sending your coins to some reputable exchange, it is perfectly safe.  Just don't keep too much there for too long, for example I don't let over 1 btc accumulate on there and transfer them to the cold storage if I have't sold them yet.

I hope you enjoy mining here! Smiley Wink

I am out in the country for a couple of days so my internet access is really slow.  Sad

It has been great getting the iPhone app notifications on 4 blocks! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Looks like we're getting really good luck here while you're away Carl!  Grin.
Try to stay away as long as possible!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Haha, if it works I agree Smiley
Heh - and here I thought the cause was that I'm in Tokyo Cheesy Cheesy

Well since Carl and I seem to do the 2 main shifts reporting blocks quickly, anyone else who sees a block now has a good chance to post first Smiley

I mentioned a little while ago about being in Tokyo and Beijing soon - well that's now.
No one on the forum responded about being here though - oh well.
If anyone is in Tokyo or Beijing over the next 10 days let me know and I'd certainly be happy to meet up and have a sit down meal and a chat.
Yes I'll pay for anyone who's been mining on the pool if that incentive helps in any way Smiley

I was wondering how come I get so lucky lately on getting to report a block first, and yesterday 3 blocks! Usually you or Carl always beat me by a few seconds!  Smiley.  I thought you guys were sleeping or something!  Cheesy

My brother just came back from Tokyo, he and his kids went to Disney Land there.  From what I saw is an incredible place with clean streets and everything in a very nice order.  I've just been in Shanghai and Guangzhou China, which was awesome too! Smiley

So, if I understand this correctly: if I transfer my BTC's from my Kano destination wallet X to another wallet Y, and I use wallet Y to spend to BTC, I no longer have the "large amount of small transaction Satoshi's generating huge fees" issue?

Correct.  Remember that the block chain is a giant accounting ledger.  When you collect a bunch of small entries to create a larger one, it takes more space.  The transaction fee is based on how much space it takes.

If you have one large input entry, you usually get two output entries (one to your destination, one with change back to you).  That is about as cheap as it gets.

If you have 28 small input entries, and then the two output (unless you have no change at all, then you have one output), you end up with 10 times the number of transactions and subsequently 10 times the fee.

It is the sending wallet that puts this all together.  By using an exchange as the first wallet, they consolidate for you and generally charge a fixed fee rather than a per transaction type fee.

Well the original reason was the BitKan summit in Beijing - but it seems BitKan's BTC intelligence is pretty low level Tongue
Due to ICO scams being rampant (yeah since they started ... like every altcoin) the Chinese Govt has now cracked down on them.
BitKan must be dabbling in ICO scams as well as Bitcoin, coz they considered that: 'Govt force majeur' and moved the 'Bitcoin' conference to Hong Kong - 2 weeks later ... but decided that only 6 days before the conference ... ... ...

But yeah part of that for me is to also meet with Canaan which I will do tomorrow
(and Bitmain possibly while I'm there - but I'm not sure they'd want to meet me Cheesy )

Hi,

Been with Kano since about May and love the forum chatter.

I have an S9 and one of the hash boards has gone west. It still powers on but fails to hash. The other two boards are fine.

Bitmain Hong Kong say send the full miner back and they will repair it. I live in the UK so that will be expensive, plus I lose the hash power of the remaining boards. I contacted Bitmain Warranty Colorado,USA. They say send the board they will repair for between $90 and $300 depending on the problem, and give a (massive  Undecided ) 30 day warranty!

Does anyone have any experience with this outfit?

Thanks,

G.

How much TH you got?  Here you will need to keep mining for a few days until you reach the 5Nd, only then you will start getting payed for the full potential of your total TH. Go to the workers tab then click shift graph there you will see the 5Nd field marked in red and you will see a tiny horizontal red line on the right side of which it says AV.  That's your average TH that you get payed for when the next block is found.

Just wait for a few days to reach your max average hashing power, that is all.  Then Master Kano will start sending you nice and fat amounts of btc, as soon as the block confirms and (usually but sometimes faster) when the next block is found.  So ho much TH you said you have?

Welcome aboard!  Wink

I've had 3 S9's which broke during the warranty period, out of 8 that I bought and I had to send them back to China and pay like $80 for each shipment by EMS (that was the cheapest option in my region) DHL and UPS wanted like $160!!!  And then I had to wait for a couple of weeks for them just to confirm that they have received the packages after they were delivered.  Then I had to wait another month or so to get them back!

So if you live in the U.S then I think the Colorado is your best option. I don't think that they'll charge you $300 for the repair as long if the whole board isn't Fried.  Besides you won't be left with no hash at all for a few months. And the hash that your 2 working boards put out will make up for the money payed for the repair of the third in less than a month. Smiley

I just lost another unit 3 days ago because another control board went out and just ordered 3 more control boards from China, couple for replacing and one to keep just in case. The control boards seem like the weakest part in my miners, I think they burn out when the electricity gets shot of and on too often.  It is the 3rd time I'll be replacing one on my miners. Sad

Good luck repairing your unit!  Wink

Not that much I have about 30THs. Been watching the block % under my workers. It's seemed to freeze for pass 5 hours. Shares are still getting accepted like crazy though??

Btw thanks for the reply!!
