hello guys, is it possible to Rent Nicehash TH and run to kano.is ?   nicehash is asking certain difficulty to set up?   anyone have tried it works?

Yes, it is. I used to do it but it's been about a year. I don't know the difficulty setting NH uses, but if you are required to pick one, you can always go into the Workers page under Management and set the difficulty.

As I said, it's been so long that I don't remember what I did. On Mining Rig Rentals, the renter would specify the difficulty and then I would go into the management on the Kano site and change it to match.

I'm sure others can give you a better answer.
... and one more thing you must do if you want a new worker for the rental Smiley
The worker needs to exist before you can set it's difficulty.
So temporarily point one of your current miners at a new worker, then change it back.
That will create a new worker that shows up under the Workers menu.

Thank you and what difficulty should I put manually in Kano and in Nicehash port ? for best results  nicehash says it should be above 9000 or so
Whatever the "certain difficulty" is they said (in your first post)
The pool will adjust it up higher if it needs to be higher.

The rental place just has some weird idea about what difficulty is necessary.
Their loss - it just means fewer people use them if they get problems.

Last time I tried I did put nothing on nicehash side, but manually change it on Kano work management page and set it to 65535 as minimum diff. It should be ok like this.

Nice to see that mining is alive and well.

@Kano, have you considered signalling segwit in order to push it closer to activation? With SegWit activated your pool will be able to include more transactions per block which obviously translates to more fees for your miners. Right now the 1mb limit is forcing you to forfeit transactions to the next miner because you can only include 1mb per block you find atm.
Well that didn't work now did it Tongue

That's a great question! If I had purchased 10 bitcoins when it was $400 I would be way ahead, but that is hindsight for you. Now that Bitcoin is regularly over $4k, it's harder to make that kind of return. That said, you can still make profits buying Bitcoin on the dips. Some people would then sell when it hits new high, but if I had the cash I would buy on the dips and hold for long term. If you have enough cash you can mine and also invest directly. I suppose you can do a serious analysis in a spreadsheet and then make your decision. Best wishes whatever you decide.

Hi Guys!

I have heard good things about kanopool, so I have decided to switch from slushpool. I did this yesterday. I am trying to get an understanding of how the pool works and the statistics I am looking at. The pool just found a block so maybe I will see some action start. Should I see that block and info under "rewards" because it is not displaying. Or do I have to have until it has "matured" to display?

Hello!  Welcome to the best BTC pool on the planet! Smiley

This pool uses PPLNS, which means payed per last number of shares.  It takes ~3 days of full mining for your rewards to "ramp" up to "full" payout.  This may seem confusing at first (I'm still not sure I fully understand it...), however what it means is you, and anyone else, also have your reward "ramp down" when you aren't mining.  Therefore if you drop offline for whatever reason, or shift to another pool, you still receive rewards for 3 days as it "ramps down".

Being a "small" pool, variance can be quite a bear at times.  However, you should find over the course of a month that your rewards come out higher than other pools.

M

I mine at Kano's Pool because it pays the best and is completely transparent!  Come join me!

Go back and read the last 15 or so pages. One of them will have a post describing the 5ND and how rewards are turned into payments and special case payments.

It takes around 3-4 days to ramp up to your baseline hash rate. Payments on a block are paid when 1. The block gets 101 confirmations 2. Another block is found. 3 Special payments are when kano tags a small Satoshi amount to see if the payment will go out before another block is found. If I got that right Smiley Amounts of payments will also very depending on the size of the block and how many transactions it has accumulated before being solved, I believe.

Lots of I believes, but I think I got most of them close to being right.

Whether or not the Block has matured, you should see what your mining has produced under "Rewards" after the pool calculates it all out.  I see mine so you should see it too.  Sure you got your miners and account linked up right?

Thankyou everyone for the replies! I do see the block in my rewards and think I understand that I need to be patient while my hashing "ramps" up over the next couple of days.

Welcome to the best btc pool on the planet, with the greatest group of miners attached to it ;-) We are guided by our mining overlord, Kano, coincidentally also the author of much of the software used by mining.

Don't be tempted by the dark side, just keep on mining. You won't regret it ;-)

We have 86 machines currently, S9's and some 741's. We had to take hash on and off the farm over the past few days to balance temps during this insane October heat wave here in Virginia. I can't ever remember ambient being 94/76 in October before. Should be like 68/45 this time of year. One thing I can't control is the weather. So for the last week we had periods where we were stripping down from 1PH to around 600ish TH and Monday we had to strip it down to below 400TH for a few hours. We're back at full capacity today. It was nice that our 5ND average eased down and never dropped below 650ish, so our block rewards during this period were subsidized by our previous average. This was especially nice on the 9th when the pool got 4 blocks. The ramp up period of 3-4 days can be a bit painful,  but once you are fully 5ND vested, you'll appreciate it as an extra benefit of mining here.

Anyone know where you can purchase S9's for BTC other than directly from Bitmain for a decent price? I was looking for Avalon's and they all want double what they cost directly, but I can't get on a site to purchase an S9, T9 or a 741!

I saw you mentioned Avalons, if you are serviced by Minerwarez they now accept BTC as advertised on their website. If you do not live in the US though, you are responsible for scheduling all shipping details.
