I would imagine miners as a whole are more IT inclined...    I wonder how many of them (us) have miners running AT work?  Cheesy

My boss and the VP of Operations are aware I mine BTC. I think my boss is curious and kind of kicks himself for not buying some when they were under $1,000.

I have thought about a couple miners at work but there really isn't a place where I could get good ventilation and air flow in and out.
The server room, where I work, is kept chilled by AC, but I think any miners in there would quickly raise the room temp. The six servers and two workstations in there don't put out too much heat (amazingly). At least not as much as a few miners.

BITMIXER.IO Gone Baby, Gone.. ;-)
Not any good sig campaigns out there that I want!

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

5Nd is currently 2.5 days. Was probably a bit longer when you started, but you've certainly hit almost full ramp so yeah, blocks need to start popping and you'll get full(ish) payouts. Eating some chicken never hurts, either.  Wink
Mine on! Cool

Asking for Off Topic opinions.

Which Bitcoin-QT should we be using?  .14.2 or .15.0.1?

I downloaded the latter recently and there was a message saying that the main exchanges were going to fork another altcoin and move away from core.  So I guess I'm behind in the latest news again.

I have a s9 since a month and pointed at Slushpool, it gives me 0.0026 every 1 upto 9 hours depending on luck. I am interested in kano pool , so in case I joined kano pool, I get about 700 Ph / 140 Ph Slush/Kano proportion thus in case a block falls I receive 4.2 x times more. right? But it wil also take 4.2 times longer right?

But 97 hour no block is not convincing to switch pool at the moment

what's going on 3 days 6 hours no block i am leaving even the worst pool has gotten blocks bye kano

Now I'm SURE our luck will change! LOL  Grin

Edit: I seem to recall we had another 700+% block about a year or so ago. Don't remember that number. Anyone?
744.98% was the worst one I could remember during that terrible run of luck last December. Block#1644 took us 93.5 hours

Looks like we beat that. Not record that I think any of us wanted to break.

Oh well. Keep calm and mine on.

hey, kano, is someone manipulating your stuff/pool?
once you got these extra 50 ph, nothing is happening.
coincidence? perhaps, but the same thing happened last time you got a large infusion, AFAIR.

things seem to stuck until newcomers get their 5D average.
No, it's just that "one thing" that is completely out of our control. Luck

Some people are throwing some rental at the pool.
I am also, as Akihabara, just to get through this block as fast as possible.
Obviously I can't choose what % the block will be, but adding more hash rate can reduce the 'time' until we find it.
Yes I hate rentals, but I can't think of anything else I can do about it.

So is it that we're working on just one extremely difficult block?  I had always assumed that everyone worked on the transactions as they came and we might just have another pool beat us in finding the block so we start over on the next one.  Obviously I know nothing about the internal structure of mining.  Cheesy
Every time a block is found you start anew, as such, you basically start at 0. Think of it as flipping a coin. We're at a lot of "heads" in a row.

180PH is totally insane and kudos to all involved at raising that (bowing to Kano as well).

Rental is a higher risk and a lower reward than mining yourself.

If you mine yourself then you will generally have a long term consistent hash rate.

If you rent hash rate, you firstly must pay the fees (which in the case of what I'm using is a bit over 4% at the moment)
and since I'm not mining long term, my reward variance is WAY higher than the pool variance.

So not really worth it even if our luck turn to good side...?
I was just looking on nicehash site and they have 0.05PH for 24h for 0.01btc

Heh, but we just broke another record for the pool hash rate Smiley
The 5 minute rate got over 200PH at 00:17 UTC
It also got higher - to 201.02PH at 00:18 UTC Smiley
Seems it's still heading up also ...
