Yep, mining is back now.
It was so scary when my ants switched to the 3rd failover pool at once))
D'oh! It literally just dawned on me that I could've changed my Pool 3 to something else for this outage.

It's funny how I used to have that one pointed somewhere else, but with so few "long" outages, I never saw the benefits of it.

It figures that this would be the outage that might've been beneficial... Too late now! Wink

Thank You Shazam! Yesterday I have read posts from January to April and nothing. I saw that someone sent T1 to Kano and he was supposed to test.

I have to wait to join the most honest pool.

You're Welcome. Hopefully Kano will have results soon, as many people are eager to run asicboost enabled equipment here. Kano is doing his due diligence, and making sure the coding on Poolside, is working correctly. That is important for every user here.

is the S9 and/or S9i compatible with asicboost?
cant find positive news anywhere.

Existing equipment will continue to work the same after Kano works out the problems with asicboost in the pool code.  It will be an added feature to allow those asicboost-only machines to work...not a restriction on existing equipment.

Hi, thanks for expanation.
I didnt ask out of fear of restrictions, but more curious if it would improve performance of the S9 / S9i as well.

Anyone knows if a firmware upgrade would do the trick?
Or is asicboosted equipment just that; asicboost only, specially manufactured?

So far, everything released that I'm aware of is ASICBoost Only.  Technically it would be possible to design a system which could go either way, but turning it off would hurt performance... (and thus advertising/sales impact)

Mined for a living since 2017.  Dabbled for years before that.

Embedded AsicBoost is available only in DragonMint's T1... to use AsicBoost companies need to join the Blockchain Defensive Patent License (BDPL). Currently, there are only 3 known companies.  (Halon Mining, Little Dragon, QRF Solutions)

Kano/others:

Did anyone else notice that it doesn't seem like the Shifts & Shift Graph are updating?

I'm sure if Kano was awake, he'd put us all at ease based on the fact that cgminer and the Worker page shows us that mining is A-OK!

MINE ON (more blocks, though, please)!

Yes, work is being accepted as expected.  The Worker Shift graph is just a tool for us and not the pool itself so all is well with mining Cheesy

I noticed that the Shifts page is stuck as well. Grin

Fixed Smiley
The shifts process was 'off' by default due to the performance problems on the old server recently, to avoid restart resource failures.
I had to turn it on after the KDB restart - but during the problems with the corrupt file and having to run multiple KDB restarts to find and fix the problem, I missed switching the flag on.

Shifts are all there now - and thanks for that reminding me to set it back to 'on' by default Smiley

Edit: you'll notice that the "acw54 wakaba" shift shows a low hash rate for everyone.
That's of course due to the hash rate being a calculation based on time, but there was an extended period of mining outage for everyone during that shift, so it's ok, the same for everyone, that's when the pool was offline.

Edit2: to see the numbers are correct for everyone who had their miners configured pointing at the pool normally for that shift:
Mining stopped at around 10:56 UTC +/- a minute due to the ckpool crash taking a while to stop and corrupting the log file Tongue
The shift started before that at 10:28 UTC and was ~97 minutes long (~59 minutes of outage until the new shift started) - so you'd expect your hash rate to be roughly (10:56-10:28)/97 i.e. 28/97 or ~0.289 of your normal hash rate.

Just (another) warning for anyone who has an email address in the Bitmain database:

Again there's a scam email being sent to everyone in the Bitmain database about the S11

The subject will probably be something like "Limited Time Offer Antminer S11-1"

Remember, Bitmain's user database was stolen (yeah not unexpected from a company who shipped miners for years, after I warned them about what they'd done wrong, with enforced completely open API access to the world) and the data thief knows your name and email and probably other things about you.
