How do we know he has got access to 4k btc? And even if wht makes us think he will give it to us?
If police get hold of those coins, they will probably seize it and auction them.

To everyone that touts the "don't leave your coins at the exchange", how else are you supposed to trade?
Besides, Mintpal was clearly recommended over Cryptsy and the volumes on Poloniex and Bitfinex are a joke.

I had only signed up days earlier and had I known there would be a migration or even a change of ownership I would have certainly withdrawn my BTC.

If it wasn't already painfully obvious after Gox, a trustless & decentralized exchange is absolutely necessary and will solve most of these issues.
