It seems that he is the only one with access to the funds - I think this was a little bit different on mtgox.

He will need a good lawyer - UK is quite serious regarding internet crime from what I have read so far.

I can hardly understand how stupid this guy is - he is known, his scamming past is known, it is known that he is the only one having access to the funds. What does he expect, that he can run away with around 2kk$?
And he's on probation too, apparently!! got a slap on the wrist for harassment a year ago.

My question is:

How come all this information about this cunt comes out after he fucked everyone up @Mintpal and not before.

How come such a low life gets to be in charge of one of the biggest exchanges in the world?

For me, I heard Moolah had acquired Mintpal but obviously didn't do enough due diligence apart from reading through their jazzy website to find Green's real scammer background that's come out now.

But the main thing was they pulled the Mintpal site down without out any notice apart from 1 tweet on Moolah's twitter (we know now why).  If I had seen that, I would have pulled my coins off at least in case there were technical problems with the upgrade.

As to how he bought it, guess he just showed up and talked the talked, agreed a good price and they sold to him...

I was able to get out 11,541.25054019 GRS from Mintpal by requesting a withdraw through the MintPal Standalone Withdrawal Tool; however, my request to withdraw 0.02062944 BTC has the status of requested, and my BTC has not been returned yet. I know it's not a lot, but regardless, it's important to return all funds to their customers.

Where do you see the status of the withdrawal? I don't see any balances, any requests, nothing. Just a text box

Actually I just got a reply from yesterday's email I sent to Bitstamp, maybe not retweet as I think they are on the case and if so not fair to pester them.  If they don't take action it's on their backs later anyway if in fact it's found that these are stolen funds from Mintpal and they've been notified.

Did they freeze the account?

don't think so, just got this from yesterday:

thank you for your effort to notify us. We will look into the matter as soon as possible and act accordingly.

I have like 4 Btc trapped there.. I still don't see how this guy was able to screw a exchange like Mintpal, they were making pretty good money there..

wow, 4btc & unaware of the circumstance about mintpal's sale?  you need to stay more informed.

do your homework

I sold some darks just before they migrated from V1 to V2, minutes after V2 was launched I tried to withdraw the BTC but they were stuck

that doesn't matter, either you had the darks there or you transferred it in  the point is long ago Mintpal suffered a major hack, you likely didn't know about it if you did you likely would not have transferred in or left 4btc worth of ANY coin there

Is there really such a need to be so harsh? Adjed's probably lost 4 BTC. By all means point out the need for diligence on all these issues around exchanges this latest disaster has highlighted, but have some compassion in the manner with which you do it.

Notice of suspicion of handling of stolen funds defrauded from Mintpal Ltd customers by Bitstamp Ltd, Company No. 08157033, 5 New Street Square, London, EC4A 3TW, United Kingdom

good work, let me know if you want me to get your message published

thanks, let's see what Bitstamp come back with, I think if some of the law firms involved can pursue this they may be able to get a court order to get Bitstamp to release the user's details.  If the user's name is one of Ryan's known aliases and the funds are confirmed as the stolen bitcoins (as I believe they are) then might be onto something...

Sorry I had to. Also, I will miss my 15 million karma dearly. I will pour one out for the .25btc I lost as well.

Excuse my ignorance, but how is it possible to check if an address belongs to bitstamp or not?
How can this guy tell the recipient's address belongs to bitstamp and not to another service?

Bitstamp removed their tweet. Luckily, I managed to browse to it just before they did.

Here's an archival in image form (I also have PDF and also have the tab still open).

Finally got my DRK coin today after waiting two days since I submitted the withdrawl request.

Just my BTC stuck now. What does everyone think will happen?

Reading between the lines it seems evident that some will be missing, so do you think they will do a % payout ... ie. 40% of funds missing, 60% of everyones balance returned in BTC? Or is that being optimistic?

It might be a year or more, but this prick will eventually resurface, probably broke, infected with an STD or three, and looking for a scam to perpetrate. You really can't hide forever in the world of the interwebz and when Ryan/Alex blows through the 3700 BTC ($1,470,000 some odd dollars worth!) he will return to his old haunts....

Then Karma with a capital K will likely come upon his sorry ass......

and yes, he got me for a few coins also.......

With maybe 1.5-2 million usd worth of bitCoins  at today's prices
he could easily stay under the radar

Those btc will probably double or triple  in value in the next 6
months  so unfortunately he has stolen a substantial amount
and that's not even counting the garbage coins

The btc amount is shocking to be entrusted to a guy who even has
a past history of being a scammer/thief

I hope everyone gets refunded but we all know how  hard that's going
to be, esp for people in other countries

Hopefully he gets what's coming to him
