With several pass-through now bonds putting tens of thousands of BTC into the Pirate investment vehicle (which I assume is a clipper with a skull and crossbones flag), are people getting pused out of that fund? If there are, is anyone willing to admit it? If I understood correctly, people who entered that fund last would get kicked out if early investors wanted to put in more funds. Otherwise, it would mean that the fund is growing by several thousand BTC each week. Not completely unbelievable, but that would only fuel the fire for the Ponzi accusations.

I don't see how this can't be a ponzi.  Invested some anyways for fun

This thread is not about Pirates operation. There are many many all over the forums. If you want in his operation, this is a good way to get in. If you do not want in and want to speculate please take it to one of the many on topic threads.

Thanks. Smiley

No problem! And yes, this is a good way to get in.

If pirate's business doesn't last beyond december, and miners turn unprofitable with the reward drop, will there be any worthwhile investments left on GLBSE?

why would miners turn unprofitable? especially established fpga miners have no reason at all to get out unless their income falls below the operational cost (mainly power cost), in which case we have other problems than our bitcoin investment returns.

You answer the question yourself.

unless their income falls below the operational cost (mainly power cost)

With number of miners increasing, difficulty increases, and with the reward dropping, it's very likely that some miners will be paying more for costs than the mining rewards.

That wasn't the main point though of my question though, more that there's little besides miners and pirate paying dividends. So if miners produce less and pirate collapses, what does one invest in.

Next Tuesday I will be traveling international to a country not known for its tech infrastructure. I will be in the capital at that time and do not expect to have any problems or delays for the bond but if there is one do not panic.

Thanks.

Someone sold all shares down to 1.0 BTC price. I assume it was not Goat, since it's still Monday and no dividends were paid yet. Not that I complain Smiley

You didn't hear? Pirate defaulted, the guy was dumping his shares while they're still worth something.

Might also be his strat against a default scenario.  Sell each week on Sunday/Monday and get most of what he would have received via dividend.  But fees add up real quick.

Selling down to 1.02 won't make him much money.
I've also noticed the PPT series hasn't been shooting up as much lately. The first several issues would rise by 7-8% a few days after issues, it worked out well when the other passthroughs came long as you could buy on Friday, flip by Sunday and then do the same with the uninsured ones. The 24 hr average for PPT.C is only about 0.012 higher than the lowest sale price on Friday and not that much higher than the average sale price.

I just had a weird flip of shares, selling at 1.09 and then suddenly my buy offer at 1.02 got filled...

I won't complain about a few handful of free bitcents though. It doesn't seem like it was a huge selloff in the first place, just looks weird on the charts.

I did the same. Basically got free one week dividend for selling at 1.09 and buying at 1.02 almost at the same time.
