He wasn't comparing... he was offering speeds for someone that asked for them.

Does any one have a base / OC config for their GTX 970?

I haven't done any gpu mining for a while and not with nvidia cards so looking for
a reference point to work from.

nVidia Driver 358.91, Win 7 x64--

I upgraded the driver on my Win 7 box today, and all I get from NiceHash is "retry in 30 seconds" using release dot 73.  Not just Quark, but Lyra2v2 and Neoscrypt also.  I rebooted, no better performance.  I then played a game, as my GTX 960 on this box is usually the first to try something new.  My rigs are Linux boxes.

I'll maybe roll the driver back tomorrow.       --scryptr
It is a pool side problem. I use miner control and after 3 retries switching to another stratum.

Well it's not likely a pool side problem if he is is the only one with the problem.

I have seen two similar problems on nicehash for which I have no explanation.

All of my rigs fail to connect to nicehash on the first atempt but suceed on the retry. There is no
error message other than the retry message. This has been happening for a few months and is
consistent. No one else seems to have reported this problem.

I have also seen repeated connection failures on one machine only. It would retry forever and always fail.
Rebottong the machine would fix it temporarilly. This problem ocurred for a while then vanished.
I'm not sure what made it go away, maybe a driver upgrade.

These problems have never occurred on any other pool, just nicehash, or more specifically westhash usa.

POOLSIDE, SCHMOOLSIDE--

I still think it is/was a poolside problem.  I mined successfully on HashPower.co for a couple days, then went back to NiceHash miner with sp_ release dot 73.  It works now, and I did not have to roll back my driver.

I submitted a 50khash increase in the lyra2v2 algo on the gtx 750ti, 960 and 970.  (Other cards not tested)

Please donate some beers to get faster code. Release 73 gave me 0 donations...  Wink

Just added 200khash to lyra2v2 on the gtx 970 Smiley

release 74 will be around 2.5% faster on the gtx 970 (lyra2v2)

The 5% increase in doom and 12.5% in the deep algo gave me 0 btc (release 73)
But now I am going back to optimize the most profitable algos. Wink

Consider tackling Neoscrypt, it's currently the most profitable and hasn't been updated in quite some time... There are quite a few bot miners with CPU miners as well as you can see on the multipools so there is a lot of leeway there when it comes to GPUs taking a bigger slice of things.

It always seems like when things hit rock bottom Neoscrypt is always there to catch things.

Every program can be optimised.
But in the case of neoscrypt, I don't think there is much room. Both me and sp worked on neoscrypt, on top of a kernel made by djm34 which was already much better than the public AMD kernel.
Maybe that's the reason it's often profitable: there is a good amount of coins with enough trading volume AND the public ccminer is much more efficient than the public sgminer.

Good reason to continue donating to sp and me ;-)

yeah. The Neoscrypt kernal is pretty good.

Looks like the latest changes in the lyra2v2 is hurting the 980/980ti performance.. Since I have added a memory access (level1 cache) I think the tpb(threads per block) needs  to be retuned.
search for these lines in the code (lyra2rev2.cu)

and change tpb

1,2,3,4,5,6,7.... 256?

   else if (strstr(props.name, "980"))
   {
      intensity = 256 * 256 * 18;
      tpb = 8;
   }

and...

   else if (strstr(props.name, "980 Ti"))
   {
      intensity = 256 * 256 * 18;
      tpb = 8;
   }

NEOSCRYPT--

Neoscrypt will not solo-mine.  None of the wallets (phoenixcoin, feathercoin, UFOcoin, etc) communicate properly with the miner.  I keep getting "Invalid JSON data", and "Unable to start getwork" errors with tpruvot's ccminer, and no error information with your ccminer.  These are really low diff coins, with small network hash rates.       --scryptr

GOOD SONG--

One of my favorites.  But unless you are referring to your version of ccminer as a "hacked drone" that yields no error information, I can't see how it relates to better solo-mining with neoscrypt.      --scryptr
