Head over to the site, it will generate a deposit slip for you and just hand it into the teller at 7-11.

That's the purpose of Coinapult.... you can avoid the exchanges completely and just get the Bitcoins in your email. As rjk mentioned above, BitInstant can't be the exchanger directly for various legal reasons.

1- The amount to send is USD, but it will display in real time your local currency in the field below
2- That $1.00 fee does not exist anymore, we will fix that now. There is no $1.00 fee.

1- Follow the instructions on our homepage, type in the amount in USD and it will show you on the bottom how much you will receive in MtGox. It will also show you the BRL amount. Have you tried it? You don't have to go to the next page, it will display right there.
2- We display a very close estimated amount in Real right on our homepage, and you don't even have to refresh.


3- I apologize but thats Brazilian Government regulations, not mine! The Brazilian gov't is VERY rigorous, we are lucky to even have this.

one shouldn't forget about the fees. with WU, the further a country the less WU fees are, also WU is cheaper by going to a local agent than sending it from their site with CC.
for instance, WU fees on decent amount to China - 1%, Russia/Ukraine - 4%, Canada - 10%

so in some cases it will be cheaper to send money through BitInstant, in others WU will still prevail.

We will also be much easier and simpler.

While WU's strategy is make you fill out 3 pages of paperwork while on any transaction under $1000 they barely need half a page of info, we only ask for the info we need.

For example, when we roll out wire transfers and ACH, we will be required to get a little more information from you, only on certain transfers.

Our devs recently made some changes to the integration with Brazil, and there appears to be a display issue regarding that. If you complete the transaction, the boleto (payment slip) says R$217.37 for a USD $100 transaction, which is the correct amount. We are working on fixing the wrong number showing in the checkout screen and it should be fixed shortly within a few days.

Also, for those in the US who may not be aware... you don't have to physically go to one of their participating locations if you have an account with one of the 4 banks they support.  If you have a Chase account, you can make your deposit online by initiating a funds transfer from your account to the account # listed on the invoice.  Same for BOA, Wells Fargo, and Citi.

- take printed receipt to a store

Had to call a phone
Selected Amount and MAKE PAYMENT option
Was connected to a REP in Manilla.
Gave my Phone, Name Mailing Address on a recorded call
Gave Receive Code (from Printout)
Gave Account Number  (from Printout)
Was told to go to clerk to make payment.

Clerk couldn't find payment in the machine at the counter.  Was told to call again.

Called again.

MoneyGram found existing order and deleted it.

Repeated entire process. 

Clerk still had no data on the counter terminal.

MoneyGram rep on the phone said it must be the recipient  not receiving the request??

Abandoned.

Could have been Local Vender->MoneyGram->ZipZap->BitInstant??

At CVS where I went, the moneygram part of the process had a small learning curve. When I got there, the cashier looked at it for a moment, tried to pull up the transaction and said to use the red moneygram phone. This phone has a kiosk # that moneygram uses to put the transaction on the store's list of active transactions. Moneygram asked for my name and address and the receive number and activated the transaction so the cashier could see it. I then went to the cashier who checked my id. So not really anonymous but then again once I have coins I guess it's up to me how anonymous I want to be in spending.

The amount was a little confusing because zipzap adds $3.95 but also writes the original amount that I typed into Bitinstant. Out of mutual caution between myself and the cashier we decided to go for the full amount. I'm not sure what would happen if we went for the original amount. Either way I knew I needed to pay the leave the store minus the full amount with fee included.

So I would probably use the bank deposit feature if possible but for folks in the boonies who had to previously buy a moneypak and go on -otc this is going to reduce the hassle quite a bit.

I plan to keep this USD as a balance to use to pay for things with BTC as needed. Like hosting, tchotchkies, bounties, and little gigs.

IIRC Moneygram asks ID for tx over a certain threshold.  The cashier is just playing "dumb robot".  The terminal either asks for ID and he/she enters it or it doesn't.

My guess is if you paid the lower amount the transaction wouldn't be automatically detected and we'd need to manually clear it for you.

One word: Awesome!

I simply had to try this out, so here is my review.

Step 1: On The Web
- Went to bitinstant.com
- Chose Cash --> CVS to MtGox
- Entered my mtgox account number (you can see it when logging into mtgox, I think you can use your mtgox username as well)
- Entered 100 USD
- Entered my email address
- web page says: You Receive 96.01 USD
- Click Send funds
- You get to review what you entered
- Click Go!
- I get redirected to https://www.cashpayment.com/Public/CashOrder, where my current location is prefilled (in my case Mountain View CA) and I see a map with 14 stores within 5 miles.
- I chose CVS at 850 California Street
- Click Create Payment Slip, and my browser downloads a pfd file, which i print out

This took about 1 minute

The 1 page document contains the address of the store, some instructions, a bunch of labeled numbers, and some logos. It occurs to me that I have to pay USD 103.95 for my USD 100 transfer.

Step 2: At The Store
- The instructions mention a red phone... In the store there happens to be a red phone... I pick it up
- The phone auto dials a number and I get connected to a robo-voice asking me to enter a number which I find on the table next to the phone. Now it knows which store I am in.
- The robo-voice asks a number of questions (don't remember the exact order), and I specify that I want to pay a bill by typing on the phone, enter the amount to pay (103.95 from the pdf), enter the receive code 9611 (from the pdf), and eventually I am told that I will get redirected to a human.
- This never happens, and after a minute or so I hang up and start over.
- I go through the process again, and this time I get connected to an operator.
- I confirm the amount to pay, tell the account number (from the pdf), tell my name and address.
- The operator says that I am all set, and can go to the counter in the store and say that I want to make an express payment.
- At the counter I say that I want to do an express payment using Money Gram.
- She asks what the amount is and what my name is, and asks for ID.
- I show her my Danish drivers license. She briefly looks at it and I pay her USD 104 and get back my 5 cents and a receipt.

This took about 5 minutes

Step 3: After Math
- I receive an email from support@bitinstant.com shortly after. Actually the time on my receipt says 4:03 PM and I received the email 4:02. That's really fast  The mail confirms that I have received USD 95.01 in my mtgox account.
- Logging into my mtgox account I find USD 96.01 there, and since I am pretty sure that I did not have any funds there I guess that the email should have said USD 96.01 instead of 95.01.

The fee page is not so useful. A lot of that info could be put in ranges and it would fit (I think in like 20% as much space or less). Ex: 100-110 fee 110-120 same fee 120-130 same fee is just taking up space. Combine similar imo.

I tried to use this service today but I think I made a mistake.  I tried to get $103.95 of bitcoins.  But, when I talked to the guy on the phone, I deposited only $100.00.  thus zipzap rejected the payment.  Then I tried to get my money back but was put on hold 10 minutes before hanging up.   I went home and re-did the procedure.  After 15 minutes the guy answered and I got a number to get my money back.  To receive payment you have to give a photo id which I did not really like doing.  May try again in a couple days.

So in summary it would be nice if you lower the minimum amount to $100 that zipzap would accept that way we could just put a $100 bill in the machine.

From my experience with using the service at CVS:
When i do my registration of the payment with the "red phone" at CVS I tell some operator that i want to transfer some money to some account. I tell my name/address to the operator. After that i go to the counter to do the payment. They ask for ID to make sure that I am doing the right payment, and not the payment of some other random guy. This is for my protection. They just make sure that the names match. The clerk has no idea that this is a bitcoin purchase. So this is just plain pattern matching. Put away your tilfoil hats.

 Bitinstant is fine but, Zipzap does NOT have identified two of my payments, executed day 24... The money isn't in my bank account anymore, since day 24, of course... And Bitinstant does not receive anything from Zipzap yet...

 Also, Zipzap tells me by e-mail, on day 25, that my two "boletos" was expired! And I have the payment vouchers in hands... So, not identifying two payments is a huge issue, at least for me, it is...

 Anyway, the Bitinstant support (Charlie) is working with me to solve this and nothing bad will happen, I'm sure.

It works the same way our cash bank deposits work.

Simple enter your MtGox account, the amount, and email address and create a quote. On the next confirmation page hit Go and it will take you to our partner zipzap.

Simply generate a slip at any of the locations and as soon as you make the deposit, within minutes your funds will be at MtGox.

You can deposit at any of them! However, if you choose Moneygram is has to be a MG location. If you choose 7-11 it has to be a 7-11 location.

The reason we haven't done the complete white label integration is because it would have delayed the launch a few weeks for extra development.
We wanted Bitcoiners to utilize new locations as fast as possible. We're working on it as we speak.

Email support was VERY quick.  And although I had much confusion in my experience, I had $$ sitting in my MtGox account before I got home from the store.

Another thing I was annoyed by was the addition of the moneygram fee.  It would be nice on the quote page to have an asterisk* saying that an additional Moneygram fee may apply if the deposit location you choose utilizes moneygram.  Or something like that with better wording

I dont know that that is exactly the case.. I had opted for "bitcoins-to-email" and used the red money gram phone at my local albertson's super market. I was not charged a convenience fee.. Both me and the cashier were suprised there was no convenience fee  but everything went through super fast. Bitcoins arrived in my inbox within 2 minutes.

I just tried the Major Bank Branch -> Bitcoin address deposit method today. It took 19 minutes from the time the teller printed the deposit receipt until my Bitcoin client saw the transaction hit the network.

She probably hasn't had to do that service for someone before. I worked at a truck stop, a good rule of thumb to protect your ass (and your job) is to ask for ID when it comes to things involving money transfers.

How have people's experiences been using this new feature? I just tried for the first time today to deposit at a convenience store and got blank stares from the tellers. I went to a local, independently owned convenience store that was listed on the Zip Zap website as the closest one to me. They were not a moneygram location AFAIK.

When I got home I emailed zipzap support and they told me to pick a different location near me and go there.

If you are able to use Bitcoin to send remittance through payment centers and banks, then it will add an order of magnitude of legitimacy to Bitcoin. Before long we'll be seeing Bitpay at pawn shops.

It's simply too expensive to convert fiat to Bitcoin, not to mention too complicated and time-consuming for the average consumer. So, even if pawn shops accept B, it's not cost-effective for the consumer to pay in B instead of paper, credit cards, and other current devils we already know.

Right now, there are so many expensive middlemen, such as BitInstant, Bit-pay, etcetera, that B is more costly to use than credit cards, not to mention cash.

Calculate for yourself how ridiculously expensive it is just to get fiat in your pocket to an xchange via this CVS/Walmart/blahBlah method. You might win OR lose due to the large xchange rate fluctuations. Plus, unlike paper, it's not anonymous whatsoever...

Due to these costs, i am done with using large xchanges to buy B, unless i absolutely have to.

In the existing environment, we simply replace expensive middlemen like credit card companies, with new expensive middlemen, such as Bitinstant, ZipZap, BitPay, bitcoin xchanges, etc.

The governments are allowing it, because the average consumer would have to be a fool to use B instead of fiat, and pay the Bitcoin middlemen. So, B isn't a threat to fiat now, or in the foreseeable future. IIIFFF and WHEN it ever becomes one, the governments will just make it so that the middlemen have to charge even higher fees to xchange fiat to B...

Until i can get paid in B, i would only buy B privately, and you all know that's not easy, cheap or convenient either for most people. There isn't a private exchanger within 100's of kliks of me.

The developing world is the key. There are a lot of people who don't have access to modern banking and/or are getting gouged by remittance services. Once bitcoins start flowing into those countries all of a sudden they'll have the ability to purchase products and services from overseas they couldn't before and that's how exporters in the developed countries start getting paid in bitcoins.

Not likely, i think. "Bitcoins will start flowing into those countries" through the same or similar expensive middlemen. It might not be BitInstant, but some other local one.

So, even if exporters in the developed countries are willing to accept B from the developing world, the average consumer won't be able to afford to buy Bitcoins to spend.

If it's expensive for some of us in the developed world to buy B, it will not "start flowing" to the average consumer in the developing world...

It MIGHT be a new niche value store for the wealthy of both worlds, just as gold and such are today, but not a widespread payment system...

We're in Stage 2, building systems where none existed before. Give it time, and you will see prices come down. That isn't true.  Private doesn't have to mean local.  We sell bitcoins at 1% BELOW MtGox's last.  Plus you avoid slippage and exchange fees.     What was that about not easy or cheap or convenient?

As our company gets larger we can lower rates. Understand that we run a legal and large operation by bridging the gap between fiat and Bitcoin, which is not cheap. Most fee's go to our processors and lawyers. Your not running a legal operation, therefore when you do high volume the bank will shut you down and can force you to give up all your customer data, since you don't keep an AML and KYC Manual nor are FinCEN regulated.

We legally, keep our customers private and give them A+ premium service.

I will leave the thread but I have to refute this falsehood.  FinCEN has not made any declaration that Bitcoin is a currency.  As such the purchase of bitcoins hasn't been determined to be a currency exchange.  We intentionally limited the scope of our business to not be classified as a "money transmitter".  We don't issue stored value cards, money orders, or offer third party payment services.  Under FinCEN current definition we are not a money service business and are not required to file as such.

Still he have the highest respect for our clients financial privacy so rather than just accept the status quo we have requested an administrative ruling on our business activities and how it pertains MSB & KYC requirements.  They have not responded yet but are obligated to do so under federal law.  The request for an administrative ruling was sent by certified mail and signed for by an agent of FinCEN.  If FinCEN rules that we are a money services business then we will certainly file as an MSB we have 180 days to make our filing.

While I do not believe bitcoin status will remain undefined forever what matters under the law is the law as currently written and regulated.  If the law changes we will change with it.  Your belief that we need to file as an MSB is just that your personal belief.  What matters is what FinCEN determines and that is why prudently we asked for an administrative ruling to preemptively answer that question.

If you are able to use Bitcoin to send remittance through payment centers and banks, then it will add an order of magnitude of legitimacy to Bitcoin. Before long we'll be seeing Bitpay at pawn shops.

Due to these costs, i am done with using large xchanges to buy B, unless i absolutely have to.

I haven't used Bit-Pay or Bit-Instant so far. I'm certainly considering using them to pre-order a Jally, due to the importance of timing. Just because certain businesses and infrastructure are set up as of now, does not mean that you have to use them.

I tried again. This time The slips were made out for exactly $500 including the $3.95 ZipZap fee. The first one went through fine. The second one would not go through because you cannot have transactions for the same amount going to the same account. I then put through my last one because it was an odd amount and it went through fine. Also, they required me to sign a MoneyGram form and provide ID for each transaction because it is in the instructions on the printout just as if I had no printout and wanted to send a MoneyGram.

In the UK, at least, it ought to be possible to use cash then - walk into a branch of your bank, fill out a giro and ask the cashier to add the necessary code/reference number?

It seems like you can now use Bitinstant in 30 countries (I haven't seen an official announcement yet).
They mostly look to be via online bank transfers in usd- it's unclear if this is international transfer or to local banks, but it looks pretty exciting.

It's a local bank transfer, we now have 91 banks and accounts in each one.

Were still testing it, so no announcement yet, but feel free to try it. Even works on weekends!

Spain doesn't work either. You can select it in the list on bitinstant page, input all the info and then they call you. After that you don't find any Spanish bank available on the list

@Yankee  - Thank you for responding.  Bitcoin has indeed been a rocky road, with sites closing and new ones popping up.

I have no problem waiting. I had actually cleaned out my Dwolla balance and sent it all off to MtGox (expecting Bitinstant would be another glbse.com). Now, I plan to refund my Dwolla account as soon as direct purchase is available again - until then, I am getting good MtGox experience.

It sounds like you have some new features coming (very exciting) - when   Dwolla-->฿ address    comes back, I hope you will include at least an estimate of how much ฿ one might expect when purchasing. After finally getting Dwolla verified and money transferred there, plus the 30 day waiting period, I made two ฿ purchases with no clue as to what the $/฿ would be.  I got 12/1 for both while MtGox had changed significantly.

Either way, glad to know this is only a glitch!

Is it known what "markers" they use?  I did not provide an accurate name, street address or telephone number.  It seems IP address or email address are enough?  That doesn't seem right. 

If they can pull such detailed information, I assume they know my age so why would they REQUIRE a person to know the EXACT dollar amount their parents payed for a home when they were 10 YEARS OLD in order to even log into their site to see the features.  Stupid if you ask me.  If my parents were deceased or we were not on speaking terms, I would never have been able to log in.

They could have _easily_ disabled the purchase option.  Instead they chose to take monies and claim it's a back-end problem. 

Still no response from my initial ticket on Saturday, or any followup from their automated e-mail to me on Saturday.

I'm giving them 72 more hours to contact me. (120 hours total - the exact amount of time they give users to complete transactions)

Then I'm contacting ZipZap and Western Union.

Recently I got the first $200 to bitstamp. THey charged fees though somewhere I heard that they don't charge fees when the payment is delayed.

Now I am waiting for the remaning $100 but not getting any replies. I included all info about both transactions when I opened the ticket but they sent only $200 (first tx) and talk to me like it's been resolved.

Received e-mail and payment an hour ago.  This is 6 days after initial transaction of July 6.

It was really nice of you to refund my ZipZap and BI fees and manually processed the payment, which is appreciated.

However, the 24 hour high price from July 5 to July 7 was $ 71.  I received the correct amount of bitcoin, based on a $ 93 price.

I'm not going to give you the benefit of the doubt, and will assume BI bought at $71 and sold me at $ 93.
