If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system.

Shame on our Bears. I made it very clear about 15 pages back that we are buying to 11.9889 ....

We have been depositing USD in chunks and buying almost immediately when GOX clears them.

Hopefully this glitch was just a coincidence as we only bought in roughly 5k this go. ;/

p.s. we still have several large deposits inbound and are comfortable up to 14.998.....

So, you want everybody to withdraw their sell order because you are going to buy. I can't understand what is the purpose of this post.

well, we were very nonchalant about it. I jsut think it is more fair for those invloved. We are not trying to get rich having people dump when there is no reason to. We are buying because we are confident the value will continue to rise. If reporting such activity in a very loose manner, since we do not actually advertise before a purchase is executed, raises the price a hair or two then that is not changing the end result for us.

cheers

who's We?
Me and my fluffy kitty that I stroke vigorously on the head before I push the buy button. ;p

A little bit of skepticism is always healthy when someone provides such an important information. And should always ask a simple question: Why?

Can't blame you there. I personally make 0 buy/sell decisions based on posts here on the forum. Atleast not posts made in threads like these. I would sure hope that no one would ever take anything I post as trading advice. I have been feeling, if maybe only a little, bad for the bears lately. Which is the only reason I bothered saying anything.

Why? Why buy?
Because we are confident that the usefullness of bitcoin is increasing and therefore its value as well. People tend to forget that the price itself is of little importance when the use of the coin is simply as a short term store of value. In which cases there is little difference in the coins being $2 or $2,000. Granted, the higher the price the more risky it is to use for simple purchases if the value is on the decline. Not so when it is in the state it is now. Which is why we keep buying. Short term spender confidence increases when the fees invloved in acquiring coins are partly absorbed by the value increase from time of acquiring to the time of spending.

As the price goes even higher it will become more prudent to try and lock in purchase agreements at a set BTC value versus a pegged BTC/USD value. With larger contracted purchases requiring a >< clause to help preserve value for both parties. Atleast until BTC can stand on its own. We are still not sure whether that will ever happen or not but until then there are plenty of tools available to make it work for all invloved.

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system.

this restarted Rich Newbie Buyer is the signal us bears have been waiting for.

i sold more  Wink

hehe, except there are a LOT of rich newbie buyers depositing on multiple exchanges in multiple currencies as we speak. =)

why didnt you guys buy at 5?

We did, just not like now. I was more concerned with linking accounts to exchanges previously. I still am, which is why we don't just make one huge move. Which would be silly anyhows. No one entity owns the market, we are not even close! And it is just as likely it could crash. Hopefully we will notice in time and place buy orders accordingly.
