On Hacker News they're bitching about how paltry this service is, yet it got upvoted to 170. There is some kind of popular appeal to the idea of pizza-for-coins. Perhaps more significant is that these guys are getting tons of free publicity, so other businesses must be noticing how the PR effect works. I suspect we'll see some companies (like WordPress) who will be attracted to BTC primarily for PR reasons.

how ironic. the very first tx back in 2009 was bitcoin for pizza. now, in 2013 with Bitcoin set to make all time new highs, pizza once again rears its ugly head to propel us to new heights!

The 10,000 BTC used to buy the first pizza can now buy a house. If Bitcoin goes mainstream, a mere 1 BTC will be enough to buy a house. That's two iterations of pizza to house.
Bitcoin's ultimate growth target = (pizza --> house)2

The rise of Bitcoin = (pizza ---> house)2
Seriously, I have no clue why in hell this shit is in the news. Must be some kind of loony quantum entanglement with some parallel universe. If 10k BTC was worth a pizza 4 years ago. And now 3 BTC are worth one. Will 1 BTC be worth 3333,33 pizzas in 4 years? XD / Edit: sorry I still thought one Bitcoin is worth 13 Dollar lol

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable. Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

At this point I'll all-in again. No point not being all in I guess. Hope it doesn't crash to $2, but you know, I guess I'd love that too. :-)
EDIT: It's funny how nervous everyone starts to get the closer we get to $32.

$32 is mostly irrelevant except as a historical curiosity. The price stayed near that level for only a very short time, and not many BTC changed hands at prices in the 30s. So it's not like there are a lot of people who have a cost basis that high and are looking to sell when they recoup their losses. The more relevant all-time high (total money supply value) has already been passed authoritatively.
