Another DDOS? Manipulator? Or bulls fighting with bears?

Gods sent us a powerful tool - cryptography - to fight with those who are trying to exploit us. USE IT!!

Well, clarkmoody is still showin' nothin' for me but Bitcoinity just dumped a bunch of buy/sell info all at once.

I can get to the actual MtGox page tho.

Me also - no problem with anything. Except that the price does not warrant either buying or selling, and that is boring  Roll Eyes

Gox is an absolute disgrace when you think about the amount of money they must be making, are they all too busy swimming in a pool full of money or what?

While I wholeheartedly agree with you, yesterday was a DDOS, so it's not impossible that today is as well.

It's getting time for someone else to step up to the plate. Gox, as the major player and just about a single point of failure is just too big a target.

What was the goal of that DDOS?  Was it an extortion?

What I noticed was a sale of about 4k bitcoins, after which Mt.Gox quickly went unstable. I suspect that either tons of traders were hitting the sell button after that or someone (that seller?) started a DDOS immediately after that to cause panic.

EDIT: typo

I wonder if the 20k BTC buy wall at 76.02 is the same one we saw at $50 something earlier this week.  If so, the next question is is this a really hopeful individual trying to catch another drop at the same price as the drop before it or is it some sort of trading strategy to edge up the price?

Might also be the case that some people suffer from being marked ddos source by prolexic.

Just wanted to respond and say I can't access mtgox at all either, and bitcoinity isn't giving me any price updates at all. So far I've only been able to try and access it using my virgin mobile phone (subsidiary of sprint) and it's totally unreachable. Any price updates from anyone that can get through?

This is a pretty lame attempt to take the market down. As soon as it comes back next week we'll be right back on track. God, I truly hope we are, anyway.

Sell....and get your USD stuck?  Wouldn't it be more prudent to, assuming you had access to MtGox at all, transfer your BTC out and hold?

Must be dump o'clock somewhere.

This is a normal phase of the recovery where the bears see it's almost back up to normal and go like, "I think this is a great time to dump."  It's completely idiotic, but I saw this with 45->38 and 69.5->60.
