Hi, just downloaded the wallet and sorry for being a newb, but does it do anything in the background ? like calculate stuff or use data (after syncing is done I mean)

it has a built in block explorer and bittrex trading client installed.. and it suppose to be mining/staking since it is on POS.

Dear all,

Today, marks the second anniversary of our vTorrent project!

To this date, not only our project development still going strong, our Community continues to grow as well.

Innovation projects are said to fail 90% of the time, but I strongly believe in an importance of a solid foundations to be vital for the success of any projects.

To celebrate the annual anniversary, a major new version of the client that incorporated many new features will be released to public in about 2 weeks.

Specifically thanks to all of those strong supporters of our project.

Regards,
vTorrent

Lol, look at the date, dev needed money for crimbo, that's why he said two weeks,. He had to get presents for those ginger kids.

Quote from: dev and Coins

@vTorrent

This image clearly shows you are building torrent functionality around Transmission, which is a great option. It also shows your client is fully syncd, that you have a fully working torrent implementation because your seed ratio clock is completely in sync with the public blockchain.

There looks like a stable release candidate on the network.

If you look at the bottom of the image it clearly shows torrent functionality is working on the devs client. The text in red looks like something cooking on the payment for torrents front  Cool

I also just noticed that torrents are working on the current version of the client, so we probably don't have to do a hard fork to see it working (or do we?)

He is running this:
Code:
QString
132 TorrentDelegate :: shortTransferString( const Torrent& tor ) const
133 {
134    const bool haveDown( tor.peersWeAreDownloadingFrom( ) > 0 );
135    const bool haveUp( tor.peersWeAreUploadingTo( ) > 0 );
136    QString downStr, upStr, str;
137
138    if( haveDown )
139        downStr = Utils :: speedToString( tor.downloadSpeed( ) );
140    if( haveUp )
141        upStr = Utils :: speedToString( tor.uploadSpeed( ) );
142
143    if( haveDown && haveUp )
144        str = tr( "Down: %1, Up: %2" ).arg(downStr).arg(upStr);
145    else if( haveDown )
146        str = tr( "Down: %1" ).arg( downStr );
147    else if( haveUp )
148        str = tr( "Up: %1" ).arg( upStr );
149    else
150        str = tr( "Idle" );
151
152    return str;
153 }

Unless they have made some big changes, it's 100% Transmission

BUMP

Dig deep into the image above and you'll see that the devs do have a working torrent implementation. Just no idea why they can't or won't share a 5 second video clip of it to keep everyone happy  Smiley

Once again, it is my belief that anonymity is a priority here, both for the dev team and users. That's why they are low key and stingy with info  We've seen this with so many other torrent, streaming, and file sharing projects that have been attacked and harassed by the entertainment-industrial-complex. It's a BIG concern that this project could be shut down before it even releases a working product.

So to the hodlers here who claim to actually own VTR, stop harassing the dev team, pimping your other shit, or threatening forks. If you have competing code, show it. Otherwise, stop staining this thread with vitriol. It's only hurting your investment.

bittrex isn't going anywhere most likely and if they delist, you will get plenty of notice.  a software wallet is as vulnerable as your pc, so usually pc versus online i would say pc, but it is a strong site and only you know how many issues you run into that can take your computer down

Holding vtr in your own wallet is safer than Bittrex.

Clearly Morantis hasn't used the 2FA in the wallet - a first for any crypto project. You also get the benefit of earning free VTRs for staking if you hold the funds, otherwise you are just giving free VTRs to Trex.

Using the wallet, 2FA always protects your funds, even when staking. I've used it loads of times and it's rock solid.

As second line of protection, the wallet is also HD enabled, so remembering a series of random words means you can get your wallet back in minutes if your pc gets corrupted or you get locked out by malware  Cool

Links to videos on using the 2FA are on the vtorrent.info website  Cool Cool

I really like the idea and the project,
Being decentralised it won't be taken down and attacked like it might with Megaupload V2 and kimdotcom.
Though I agree that the devs could communicate a little more atleast on this forum but thats up to him.
Even if they missed timelines, I know they are working.

I'm riding for free as I sold a portion on good pumps, so it makes it not so hard to wait.
I would recommend a few others to do the same if they are getting impatient  Tongue.

With all the fuss about the dev been inactive with the community, people are holding on pretty well. This is quite an exciting project despite delays.

Two options: either this really is vaporware, or the dev knows exactly what he is doing and has been accumulating. The dev knows at this point that he can basically pump this coin at-will, whenever he wants. All he has to do is communicate, show some "proof" of progress, and the pump will be on. Even if it's vapor, he can still put out "news" that is contrived and pump this sucker. Do you still think it's just going to die, and we're done? Nothing but down from here?

The risk/reward ratio is too tempting. IMO there is plenty of "news" and work that could be released, but insiders are still busy picking up cheap coins as people get bored and sell. Boredom is making people take a loss, thinking they'll go trade something that's actually moving. So let's think about this: if it's vapor you lose 10-90% depending on when you get out. If it's not vapor then this is easily a x10-x20 on the first pump, potentially upwards of a x50. If this project isn't vapor and tangible progress is done, we might be looking at x100 or more, if something like getting listed on Polo happens. Coins have reached 100million+ marketcap without being on Polo, multiple times. Everybody selling out now for pennies I just do not understand, and I'll keep scooping up them dumps.

The risk/reward is way too good to be afraid of vaporware. Been in altcoins since 2013. Built a life on it. I'm tellin' ya this reeks of purposeful silence whilst accumulating. I'm ok if I'm wrong, chump change. If I'm right, it's a yearly salary or two. These opportunities are my bread and butter. Thanks to those that have been fearful for making it possible.

I agree, risk::reward profile for vtr is outstanding, dev is likely buying coins for his friends and family everyday.

Mine took 30 hours to download the blockchain after installing the wallet. But when it syncs now, its pretty quick.

@Dev

On paper, VTR is x1000 better than LBRY.

The reason this is not reflected in the price, is simply because an inferior project does things like communicating a little more. Nothing else.

They have thousands of people in their slack not because their technology is better, but just more engagement.

Please share a little more, as is the nature of BitTorrent  Smiley

If not, a video? Actually, just the video will do the job.
