undervolting on PSU level is indeed a point I missed before. Are there any DIY? Smiley Or is efficiency directly degraded after modding?

we have a forum member that is well respected working on a plug in 'pot' type device.

plug in a plat psu at 12 volt and 92 %   out comes an 87% 9 volt pcie jack.

since the power should reduce greatly that loss will be okay.

ie .52 drops to .32  / .87 = .36

or you can buy this

http://megawatt.us/     which will go close to 9.5 volts  but is 80%  so .32 / .8 = .4 per gh

this is all theory no one has demonstrated  a s-5 running at 9-10 volts clocked to freq 225 or freq 250 to be stable.

is this unit more louder then SP20?

Its subjective but I believe both out the box the SP20 is 'louder' due to the quality of the noise. S5 is loud, but its moving air + a moderate whine noise - identical an S4. Stock SP20 noise is unique, I can't really compare it to anything else.

at 150 cfm, I have four of these on my each of my s2's.  They are extremely quiet.  They move air like hair driers.

is this unit more louder then SP20?

No. If SP 20 fan speed is set to 20% and speed 1150GH/s,  it is much quieter than Antminer S5

But you can use the S3-S5 modification https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=914354.0

Yes their are S5 coupons for customers who bought early … Bitmain trying to draw in repeat customers after being burned by bitmain lowering the price . Bitmain needs to come up with a different way to reward past customers because the coupons are becoming more of an insult if anything .

I used a few coupons on the s-3's .

I gave a quite few away.

I sold a couple  of s-3 coupons very cheaply.

I would not mind someone tossing 2x  s-5 coupons at my bitmaintech   account .

are you kidding? $30 coupon is an insult? This is not a S3/S2 coupon rain, they only give numbers equal to batch 1-3 that you ordered at much higher price.

Why would I order more units ? the cycle ends when you no longer repeat business .

home miners don't have enough coin stacked to take 2 or 3 bites at the same product cycle … I order once in a product cycle and thats about it ...

The current/on going reduction in bitcoin price had me thinking this weekend about our vendors.  Remember the good old days of Bitmain pricing merchandise in bitcoin instead of USD?  Yes there are wild fluctuations in btc price, but if the vendors don't think enough about it to use it as value instead of basing products on USD, why should anyone else? Just something to think about.

it is difficult to price item in something this volatile, but great for transmission. In any case, I don't know what they and coinbase are basing the price of BTC off right now? OKCoin?, btce?

Bitmain's website is currently about $8/btc lower than Coinbase.
