Hello, I have a table for 12V operation. Seems that power draw is linear. Higher speed means better W/Gh ratio. All measurements were tested at wall without FAN.

PSU: Fortron Raider 750W

100MHz/175W     = 0.53W/Gh
125MHz/212W     = 0.51W/Gh
150MHz/250W     = 0.51W/Gh
175MHz/285W     = 0.49W/Gh
200MHz/320W     = 0.48W/Gh
225MHz/358W     = 0.48W/Gh
250MHz/397W     = 0.48W/Gh
275MHz/430W     = 0.47W/Gh
300MHz/465W     = 0.47W/Gh
325MHz/507W     = 0.47W/Gh
350MHz/545W     = 0.47W/Gh
375MHz/580W     = 0.47W/Gh

All test done at 12.3-12.4V. Voltage measured at chips are 0.78-0.8V.

you need a 4 pin, you can get delta 120mm fans from ebay for about 60% off that cost.  Go to delta's website and pick from the catalog and go on ebay and search the model you want.  I have suggested foxconn fans, they can be had for $9 a pop.  they do up to 3500 rpm and 150 cfm.

Interesting, the review I found suggested its 12V rail was around 11.7V. Cold testing Hot testing.

Just mentioning it because this is the first miner where 12V regulation really will make a difference to efficiency/overclocking/underclocking.

Yes, this miner is very different to other Ants. It is the first one to power chips in series instead parallel. It is like a christmas tree lights. Unfortunatelly most of 12V PSU are not able to be modified to 9V easily, but 10.5V can be done mostly.

As I did some tests, S5 is pushed to maximum as it is uneasy to cool it already, so OC can be done only at some special cases. I think that using previous design with cooling chips by bottom of the package would allow 1TH machine with less chips and eff similar to C1 or S3. Unit could be cheaper.

Ok I am lost... anyone have any ideas?

I ordered 30 of these... but they have 4 black wires. The connector has no markings... I have no data sheet. I have no clue which goes to the S5 Red White Black Blue.  Huh

http://www.overclock.net/t/922274/delta-fanatics-club/190#post_12978470

Any thoughts?

I see that the pinout information has been provided already so I can tell you that I used a scribe (pin will work too) to push in the locking tab to remove the pin the lifted it a little to lock in again. The locking tab is accessed in the rectangular opening of the connector. If you are uneasy about the change you can always try it out first to a power supply before connecting it to your miner. You will be very happy with these fans once you install them.
How does it compare to using an S3 fan on the S5?  Better or lesser cooling?  Louder or quieter operation?  Or perhaps, much the same?
I turned on the S5 just to hear the fan and already had these pulled out of storage knowing I would be putting the on the S5 from the reviews I read. Strato bought a bunch of these to replace the stock S5 fans which is where my comment was directed at. I could not say if these would work better or worse than the S3 fans, I did not have the opportunity to try them as I sold my S3s. If you have S3 fans to use I would try them, I think there have been others who may be using them as I see inquires about that fans spec. I can say that my ambient is relatively low, never above 27C, while the blades have never been above 58C and the fans are about 60db max. I think it would be interesting to know how the S3 fans work though. Without taking a db measurement of the S3, my S5 sounds about the same as my S3 in about the same ambient temp.

Yes, the modded S5. I only ran mine stock for 5 minutes knowing it was going to be loud from reading reviews from you and others so I was ready for the pit stop change.

Hey everyone,

So Bitmain was very cool about issuing me coupons for the 24 AntMiners that I purchased off of Amazon before the price drop.  I haven't decided if I'm going to use them all, or perhaps just a few…  Still need to get a number of our first delivery up and running.

So that said, I may be interested in either trading or selling a bunch of the coupons -the coupons are good through February 4, and our valued at $45.00.  Just a heads up, you can only use one coupon per S5.

Shoot me a private message if there is any interest in working out a deal on some of these.

Cheers!  Grin

Strato

I also bought 2 on Amazon but did not get coupons for those.  What is the procedure for obtaining them?  I could really use them as I'm about to order 4 more direct from Bitmain.

Ditto

I simply sent an email to info @ bitmain - their support email. They asked that I provide feedback on their profile - which I had no issue doing as they shipped my units on time and they arrived early. Then they sent over the coupons. They were quick to respond.

Has anyone tried opening up their Antminer S5 and consider putting a fan onto each of the heatsink surfaces? Miner would probably become quiet, although you could have a bit of a mess Wink

If you have an older router load it with DDWRT      you can plug as many antminers into that router as there is ports.
Set up DDRWRT as a client bridge.... It will connect to your router. basically you could have a small farm run as far as the signal goes and not have to run a cable.
If the signal is good this works. if not you can increase the transmit signal on the router..
If I am too far I get drop outs but this is how I connect my S1 in the garage right now
+1 for DDWRT. I use this on all of my Linksys routers as wireless bridges for all the miners running in various rooms and the garage.

http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index

Additionally, if a DDWRT-flashed router is set up with an OpenVPN implementation (through a VPN subs/service), all traffic through such router are globally tunneled (i.e. miners, PCs, mobile devices, etc.) as opposed to a client-based OpenVPN app for those who are keen on interweb privacy.

Yes, the noise.
I was hoping someone could tell me is this is normal for a stock S5. I have two running, same clock speed, same location, same intake through an open window.
The fan on the second one is screaming (I mean SCREAMING) at 3960 RPM. Should I be worried?

are you sure the highlighted one is working, seems 0 submitted shares is quite low, and temp is way lower on that one too...

It does not work. You need to cool down in the inner sides. There are temperature sensors.

Water-cooled S5 will not work without a fan . It overheats.

Is the heatsink hole spacing compatible between the S1/S3 and the S5?

I would also like to know this - can anyone confirm?

Thanks.

I would not mind a couple of those as well Smiley

@philipma1957

Please check your Bitmain Account for the updated coupon counts!!   Grin

Are there any s-5 coupons? I saw something about s-5 coupons can't find it now.

Yes their are S5 coupons for customers who bought early … Bitmain trying to draw in repeat customers after being burned by bitmain lowering the price . Bitmain needs to come up with a different way to reward past customers because the coupons are becoming more of an insult if anything .

I used a few coupons on the s-3's .

I gave a quite few away.

I sold a couple  of s-3 coupons very cheaply.

I would not mind someone tossing 2x  s-5 coupons at my bitmaintech   account .

I'm waiting for my S5s and tested voltage adjustment on DPS-600 server powers which I use on my S1 space heaters.
DPS-600 is little bit longer than S1 so it can cover also S5 top and direct airflow.
I got adjustment range of 9,5-13,8V on DPS with 10k trimmer which I use to undervolt the S1s.

Postman delivered today 30kg of powers under 20$ eatch. Propaply DPS can't match even bronze efficiency but I get lot of kW/h with the 100$ price difference compared to PC powers and anyway there is -12C outside and electricity is kind of free when house is heated with it.

I have overclocked PCs since Intel 486 and built a lot of water cooled computers and like quiet machines, is C1 water blocks available separately somewhere?

S5s seems to be a screamer and I can heat garage with them but there is allready 6 default S1s and enought heat.

I paid about 360$ eatch for S5s without shipping at DHgate can I get some kind of coupons?

Well I got the Delta Fans up and running - special thanks to Tom and Dogie and everyone for their help!

Only oddity is that the fan is not communicating with the miner dashboard - it just shows 0 speed.

My temps look ok '55-59'  And from what it seems the fan is just going full speed.

I'm clocked at 387.5 and getting 1260ghash.

I clocked it up to 400 and ran it for a few hours with no issues; but decided better safe than sorry.  425 Crashed a Blade and had to reboot.

Any thoughts on why I'm not getting fan speeds?  I tried reversing the two wires - but then the fan didnt work at all.

Thanks again!

Strato

P.S.  The Delta Fans are about 1/2 the noise level - so much better!  Kind of sounds like a small space heater on high-- as opposed to a small shop vac. Wink
