Bitcoin is mother currency as this is first and always remain like this. Bitcoin will just grow more and more and any other currency will come and go. This is right time to invest in Bitcoin as prices will go higher and higher in coming month. This long term investment which will make you rich.  Smiley
The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Bitcoin = Gold - Litecoin = Silver.

but my question is do we really need a silver, especially if bitcoin will address the slow confirmations?

real silver on the other hand, have some use in the industry, where gold cannot be used

Of course is bitcoin. bitcoin is the prototype of crypto currency, which is the KING.   Grin

Don't invest in LTC, LTC is centralized, ASIC manufacturer "Gridseed" has over 50% hash power.

 Huh you really haven't been following bitcoin much if you're calling LTC centralised  Roll Eyes

Bitcoin = Gold - Litecoin = Silver.

Are we seriously still peddling that line?  Seems a touch cliché now.  Unless the dev team have any major plans for new features, I can easily see more dynamic projects like Dash, Bitshares, Maidsafe and Monero surpassing Litecoin within the next year or two.  I'll admit I haven't been paying much attention to LTC (as it seems to be fading into obscurity), but does it have any interesting developments on the horizon?  Anything at all to make it stand out from the crowd?  It just feels stale to me, somehow, completely lacking in impetus or momentum.

yes true, i think so there is no comparison between Btc and Ltc, because Bitcoin has more big market value than any other crypto currency, no any other coin has adoption like Btc and it is going higher and higher day by day and getting more merchant, more media attention, so Btc has more bright future ahead and right choice for smart investment.

New features? Development? I don't think you'll be getting those anytime soon.

To make matters worse, the developer's "boss" has made it clear that anything altcoin is a "no no".

This was a message heard loud and clear by all Coinbase staff. I honestly would have quit my job the same day he made that tweet.

That's what I figured.  I get that merchant adoption and liquidity are important, but at the same time, you still have to get people to notice that you exist.  Litecoin is failing completely at that right now.  They can't grow their userbase if they aren't doing anything to get people's attention.  And if the userbase shrinks (which seems a far more likely outcome than growth) then they're going to have less liquidity and merchants aren't going to waste their time supporting a coin that no one uses.  It just sounds as though they want to do nothing and ride on Bitcoin's coattails.

I am so confused.

What is better?  Which one do you guys recommend more?

Thank you for your time

Are you asking about the technology or the price?

The technology:
Litecoins is based on the bitcoin source code.  Litecoin offers three key differences from Bitcoin.

  • The Litecoin network aims to process a block every 2.5 minutes.
  • The Litecoin network will produce 84 million litecoins, or four times as many currency units as will be issued by the Bitcoin network.
  • Litecoin uses scrypt in its proof-of-work algorithm

The first two are not big differences. The number of maximal coins is simply a number set in the source code and the processing time is not a big difference.

The litecoin network is smaller than the bitcoin network.

Litecoin has the scrypt algorithm.  That was new and it was the first to use it so I would say that Litecoin was very much alive.

litecoin volume on exchanges isn't bad but it's waiting for the first large exchange to delist it at some point this or next year. the only thing you can say about litecoin is "it's there" it has no real purpose.

If LTC goes then pretty much everything else will too. It would take something pretty cataclysmic to knock it off the alt map altogether.

I doubt all the others will follow foot like LTC is at the moment. LTC has been around for a fair amount of time being BTC little sister but the problem with LTC is that theis no dev team hardly any updates and seems to be going under. If they got their acts together they would have a much stronger coin.

They are many alts striving right now and some are creping up the ladder fairly quick and soem others with good progressive and time served increases. If LTC gets knocked out then gives ohers the chance to be better and replace it. Same really for BTC only takes one alt to be better than the main ones. Only reason BTC is at the top is because of how many use it and how big it is getting. If their was other alts around as long as BTC and had as many services then they would be somewhere around the top. Time will tell and I know of a few that might indeed nock out BTC and LTC
