did you know Gavin and its from his own words is increasing the block size even if bitcoin users are against, stating he only has to convince 5 people to do it (thats less people the had to be convinced to go with the banks big bailout. Shocked )...and good ol Mikey wants it too be just ONE!

Wow! When the family goes out to eat that's exactly how many people I have to convince to go to my favorite diner.

At least bitcoin has a decentralization factor of five. If Satoshi makes a surprise return that number will dwindle.

If the reversal of Bitcoin is on the soon trip then the litecoin boom is coming faster than you can imagine. But, anything can happen.

I am so confused.

What is better?  Which one do you guys recommend more?

Thank you for your time

Personally I will choose altcoin because of its price its not stable,
So its perfect for trading e-currencies, if we can get perfect time, it will make profit to ourselves.

I'm an advocate of litecoin, as far as I'm concerned It's a pretty big ocean out there better we have an armada of ships sailing together in the same direction rather than all being on a single Bitcoin boat which to me sounds pretty cramped and an isolated target.

I think Bitcoin is great and don't want to see any litecoin success at the expense of it but having only one single blockchain out there is completely shortsighted. It's not viable to have thousands of competing CryptoCurrencies the altcoin bubble has burst but a small basket of complementary ones is completely reasonable.

In future if development of a coin isn't to your taste at least you can vote with your feet without have to head back to fiat, that cannot be said if you follow the 'only Bitcoin' mantra and is at least one good reason why Bitcoin holders should consider having a small investment in litecoin.

This argument should be over by now. The market has cast its vote.

Yes, the price of litecoin apparently can't follow the price of bitcoin anymore.

Litecoin price might drop below 1 usd judging by its action today.

Right now the biggest things going on for BTC are basically:

1) Being the original altcoin: Has higher status than the rest of alts
2) Has a better and faster transaction time.

Unfortunately for LTC, BTC is going to increase its blocksize limit in the next update, which means Bitcoin will be faster than ever, therefore is one less thing that makes LTC worth it above BTC. Right now if i was holding LTC; I would keep holding it until the next pump (if it happens) because it truly cannot get any worse.

The proposed hardfork for blocksize limit has no effect on transaction speed or confirmation time(except indirectly if too many blocks are filled). Bitcoin will still have a confirmation averaging 10 minutes and litecoin 2.5. It is features like the "lightning network" which may bring instant confirmations in a decentralized manner-- currently we only see instant confirmations with btc payment processors.

as I"ve said before ..I've got two Titan(s) the 1st no refund no roi Titan I got (drank the knc kool aid) I just MIGHT be able to ROI
on even at low LTC prices...because 1) i am a registered biz (bank error kinda had to sec involved had to show my bona fides to help fix bank error) ...so I have gotten
most already of my 25% equip off due to depreciation...which knocked it down from a 10,131.80 mistake to a 7598.85 mistake (whew?)
....dumb luck no mining taxes needed to pay due to amount of equip I got and because 2013 I was lite on making coin and 2014 sucked)

2) got a 2nd Titan for a great i mean great deal ....4.5 months ROI with 2 months to go...so using that as a winch i just might ..maybe
really really close squeak by to ROI with electric and BREAK EVEN.....a frigging lot of ifs to break even on the KNC scam of late delivery!

3) ALAS I kinda..... have to make the bet that LTC will go up..I am holding all i mine....and the ..mining the Titan(s) from LTC to BTC at these current low  prices just seems obscene so
it is a hope and a prayer that LTC goes back up to $4 like it was around in Nov 2013 when I got the Titan..or the above will likely not
be possible ...again a slow slog to get to break even...(again with elec) ...but at least i can see some very very small bit of day light on this.

(feel like I'm at a racetrack betting all on 1 pony to win to get me out of the hole with the bookies.....sharpens the mind it does)

so yeah ..the above with the halving is my hope to......or these units some day will even be MORE expensive doorstops

good thing home mining is dead.....can't take this stress anymore Smiley

from then on www.coinbase.com will be my friend Smiley

so what the LTC price is around the halving will make for some interesting times Smiley here in 112 Days

hell to think I was bored in 2012 before BTC came into my life lol Smiley sheesh!

How is is anymore "powerful" than Bitcoin these days? It's only "advantages", or differences, are the block times, reward times, PoW algorithm, and a few others. None of these things are such a great improvement over Bitcoin, that it would warrant us switching coins, otherwise we would have done so by now.

I should have gotten into Bitcoin back in 1992...

I really don't know what to expect from LTC at this point. It just seems to wane more and more. I guess the best thing that could happen to LTC was an influx of new people into the cryptocurrency game, so they would get to know LTC, as well.

Which is the 95% of the global population who hasn't touched cryptocurrency at all, yet...so yeah. Pretty healthy chunk of people to try and attract as users.

1) Being the original altcoin: Has higher status than the rest of alts

Well, the original altcoin after:
  • Namecoin
  • IxCoin
  • I0Coin
  • Solidcoin
  • GeistGeld
  • Tenebrix
  • Fairbrix
  • SolidCoin 2.0

So...  the 9th altcoin.

You could say: "one of the original altcoins".
