Second option is the best in my opinion, we can also continue mining and contribute to building up pool reserves.

I'd rather have our outstanding balances be paid over a few months, than to lose everything. Especially since mine is 81 LTC, I would rather recover as much as possible and keep the pool up and running.

The correct thing is for people to be honest and return the funds they stole from the pool, but we all know that will not happen.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Just compare, how transparent Balthazar's actions in relation to what notroll's admin did...and where is now notroll, hope ltcmine.ru will recover from this disaster.
Best wishes.

The problem is that pool needs reserves to work. If I'll send this coins to users, pool will be unable to handle rewards correctly because of variance, orphans and payments for immature blocks. It's a suicide as is.

So, it's a dilemma: send 1/3 now and nothing more ever, or send limited amount and handle this balances by another way. As a shelved rewards, for example, get 0.5-1 LTC from each block to pay this rewards.

Balthazar it is only a dilemma because of your code of ethics. You are looking for ways to accept complete responsibility for what happened and as a result want to pay everyone everything.

Anyone here who has ever written a line of code in their lives understands what happened and has made similar mistakes. I remember making a modification at a customers plant and shutting the entire line down for 8 minutes. Eight minutes might not sound like much; but, it, represented multiple thousands of dollars. My customer forgave me and was actually glad that I recognized the error so quickly. It turned out that a similar incident several years earlier had shut them down for an entire shift. We are human and shit happens.

Any solution is good enough for me. I don't feel you owe me anything. I do want to continue mining at your pool.

This. I'm very happy with the pool I switched to after this mess occurred, but I'd rather be on ltcmine.ru.

Balthazar,

Please zero the balance of 10.63785359 ltc on my account.  I know it's not a huge amount but I hope it helps ease the burden you must be feeling just a little bit.

I will return to mining at your pool once you have things back up and running.

Regards,

Beanhead.

Doesn't make any sense to close the pool, raising fees to pay the debt is somewhat stupid as well - we'll be paying ourselves and basically active miners will be paying to the ones who said "oh, sh**, f**k it, I'm out!".

It can make some sense to change reward system to similar as used in pool.itzod.ru - that is if we get extremely lucky pay out part of that "luck" vs debt to active miners (proportionally to their activity % till scrypt asics come Smiley ). If we are lucky enough - we may get more payments and eventually some day get the stolen funds back.

As for change of payment method (making "generated" payments instead of "sent") - it's not the best idea as btc-e definitely f**ks up on that - had an issue with eligius.st+btc-e.com=2 or 3 weeks for getting my funds in manual mode after btc-e staff was definitely sure their scripts will not give me what I should have got.

Heт cмыcлa зaкpывaть пyл (ecли тoлькo жить мeшaeт и cпaть oxoтa Smiley), пoднятиe кoмиccий - тoжe тyпoй вapиaнт - мы бyдeм caми ceбe плaтить зaдoлжeннocть пyлa, и пpи этoм ocтaвшиecя мaйнepы бyдyт плaтить тeм, ктo yшeл co cлoвaми "нy eгo нaфиг!"/"мнoгaбyкaффниacилил!"(ктo-тo peaльнo дyмaeт, чтo этoт тoпик вceм пo cилaм? кopoткий aнoнc тoгo, чтo пpoизoшлo и чтo бyдeт дaльшe - вoт чтo нaдo!)

"send limited amount and handle this balances by another way"  It's better than just get a 1/3. I think lot of peope will agree with it.

My lost amount was ~week payment. 1/3 of that was a 2-3 days payment. Well, even with raised fee - doesn't make any sense to go anywhere (ah, ok, technically it does, if you run under 400kh/cgminer instance, as diff256 caused stratum disconnects due to miner not finding anything for several minutes)

@Balthazar: Are you making sure that those miners who have withdrawn too much (and stole the LTCs from the pool) that day, are not being paid here?

Balthazar,

Don't use your reserve to pay us if it will make running the pool too risky for you. I vote for increasing the % even to 5%. I increased the donation to 100% when I found out about the issue and want this pool to succeed.

I'm sure many will stay with your pool as you are honest and transparent with problems and this builds trust.

Take your time with this issue, don't rush to make a decision. Remember there are some people who will complain and others will be silent. Personally, I really like the idea that we are all pioneers and I want to have a computer that supports the cryptocurrency network.

Thanks!

No you went beyond wondering. You expressed yourself and allowed everyone to see your ignorance. How clever. You must be really smart.
