Thanks, I'm interested in anyone who supports non-windows solutions. I really can't be bothered to fuck around with virtual OS just to play a poker game now and again.

When the software was being developed they changed the graphics after which some people were having problems so they put the old graphics as an option. This was before Seals/SwC took it over. Before SwC I used to use that option but I haven't used it since SwC. I guess that's because of the improvements they made to the software.

Please bring back an android app. I used to love playing Sealswithclubs, but haven't played since the android app went away.
I think they're kinda underestimating the number of folks who are in that situation.

I see that the open source PokerTH has been struggling with an Android version since 2014. But the old Seals had one that worked. Didn't SwC "inherit" the source code for that one?

If everything is working fine then yeah, don't worry about that setting. But if you've had issues like the client crashing or whatever then turning on legacy graphics may fix the problems.

A solution for some people is a dual boot PC. Mine can boot into Linux or Windows XP.
And I can also WiFi tether my cell phone to that ancient laptop, so that I can play SwC from anywhere there is a phone signal.
It is dirt cheap, very portable, and it works flawlessly. I realize that it is "too many moving parts" for widespread use. A more simple solution is necessary.

Indeed, there are all sorts of workarounds for people who are willing to install weird OSes on a) old machines b) virtual machines, etc. But what's not clear is why: 1) after 14 months, there's not some sort of universal client, which really should have been the first thing 2) there's not some sort of support for at leasts one other os other than windows, 3) there's not any sort of effort to get their software working with WINE For me, it's sad. I loved Seals. RIP.

"Why?" is a valid question, as long as we recognize that it is speculation. Possible reasons: - The owner does not want to spend the money to write other versions of the client software
- There is some encryption or security issue involved with connecting a different client with that server. Hackers would find a way to get in.
- There is some other technical incompatibility between that existing server software and a different client. They would need to rewrite everything.
- They wrote the Android and HTML clients already. They work (sort of) but they are not stable enough to release, or they negatively affect the playability or response time of the entire system
- The developers might just be very, very, V E R Y S L O W
Can you think of any other possible reasons?

About 6th months ago the only computer I had was a MacBook and there was a lot of windows applications and things I wanted to use. I looked around and found crossover. I'm not a computer wizard but it was very simple to use. I assume the Linux version is similar. It pretty much opens "bottles" with most of the windows operating systems without actually needing them. I was able to run all the windows applications I wanted to including seals. Check it out here, I think there is a free trial but can also be downloaded on torrent sites. Hope this helps. https://www.codeweavers.com/products/crossover-linux

Yeh, CrossOver ($39.95) is paid version of Wine (developed by same guys but probably works better than Wine.) SWC doesn't work on Wine, but perhaps it does on CrossOver (on linux - obviously it does on OS X.) I am a bit lazy to try the trial, but would be nice if someone tries VirtualBox (free) + Windows works too. In theory can get free legal Windows: There are also other free 100% legal Windows versions including XP here, but these expire after 90 days (so have to re-install all including SWC each 90 days - you will lose files too afaik.) TBH I do think it's pretty cool Microsoft offers these VM images for free (officially it's to test websites in different IE/OS versions.) (Make sure to have "bridged adapter" in network settings of VM.) But it takes some effort and is not good for old computers. I know tspacepilot knows the above, but just so zeaderza knows about that possibility

Nevertheless, I would be interested to know the result if anyone puts this to the test.

Anyone else enjoying all of these 5-card PLO games that have been firing recently??? The action has been amazing. For example, I got all in pre-flop the other day, over 100BB effective stacks, and the other guy had 4668J with a suit.
This is just a heads up for those of you who may not have logged on in a while, and an attempt at starting some conversation. There has been a lot of good action lately, so come play! I took some time away to grind a bonus on another site, and am very happy to be back. The games are so much better on SwC.
