In any case, it would be sheer stupidity to run afoul of the law again after copping a plea, so I can't imagine that he's involved with SWC Poker since he made the deal.
I definitely agree with this. Cheers!

For the record, Micon WAS involved with SWC poker (he "isn't now"). It IS run by some of the same people who ran Seals With Clubs (it says so right on the website).
OK, I'll bite. Who "is now" running SWC that was previously involved with Seals With Clubs, with the exception of glitch? I have no idea. As I said, I was just quoting their website: https://swcpoker.eu/swcpoker-faq/ Who are you? We are a small team of humans, some from the old SealsWithClubs, some from other places.

Anything else? Seems like in the last 6 months the only changes have been new chat colors and reduced gtd's.

Anything else? Seems like in the last 6 months the only changes have been new chat colors and reduced gtd's. This is something I am not understanding about a lot of the bitcoin poker sites. They seem happy to stay in this small bubble and not expand the product. Swear the community should just get together and create a site and membership means you get a vote on all dynamics of the site so it stays for the players.

For the record, SWC Poker is not the same as the old Seals With Clubs. Micon is not (and has never been) involved with SWC Poker, and it's not run by the same people who ran Seals With Clubs. The original Seals With Clubs was shut down a long time ago, and there is no plan to resurrect it. However, SWC Poker has a listing of old Seals accounts, and if you e-mail support@swcpoker.eu, they will transfer your old account name and krill over to the new site if there was an e-mail address associated with your Seals With Clubs account. Sure, I could email them. But since I have no way of logging into the "new site" (from what I can tell, you can't do anything on the new site at all except read the blogs and the news posts), and since I have no way of running the software, I haven't done anything at all.

If you have btc on SwC I could recover your account and send the btc to you at no charge. It would be worth the effort to be able to put an end to your lamenting. That is as long as it is OK with SwC. I still play there whenever I find a game that suits me.

Old seals shut down when there where strange going ons with the server. Old ownership panicked because they felt it was possible server was comprimised thru a govt type hack. They decided to payout the players and shut it down immediatley. Micon wanted to continue with the site so he went to antigua and set up the current site with new ownership and possible some that stay from old ownership. The majority that held old seals shut it down.

Today, a non-holiday Saturday, the following tournaments failed to run:
20 chip deep turbo 15 chip normal 25 chip deep turbo 20 chip 6max 20 chip antes 100 chip nightly 50 chip super stack 30 chip late deep turbo 25 chip spooky stack 50 chip smooth
Making the site basically nonviable for any player who wants to play >$4 MTTs. I feel that we need to have the site participate in discussions and think of some new ideas to encourage existing users to play if we can't encourage new players to deposit. The fact that the site's staff isn't doing anything to fix these problems (in fact they've done the opposite by cutting a lot of the gtd's), isn't communicating with it's users/prospective users publicly, and is slashing guaranteed lifetime rewards is troubling.

Lol, iirc, the old seals was very good about providing a chance to cash out any chips before the shutdown. I don't think I actually have any money associated with my account. The main purpose of my lamenting is just that I really enjoyed a lot of hours of playing bitcoin poker on my couch on my tablet, and on the bus on my phone. Nothing in the last two years since they shut down even comes close. I think I used to believe that swc was going to achieve what old seals achieved and am a bit heartbroken now that I realize it was just hype or whatever.

The problem is, I don't think you get why I'm pissed. I'm not pissed because my equity dropped by a handful of pennies, I'm pissed because promising one thing and then taking it away with no communication is a sign of major issues with the site.
When the fuck exactly did they say X krill will guarantee a krillroll of X value for the rest of eternity? Bryan Micon, operator of the closed down bitcoin-fueled poker site Seals With Clubs, has been charged by the Nevada Attorney General with operating an unlicensed gambling enterprise, and faces up to ten years in prison and a US$50,000 fine. Interestingly enough it seems he is willing to try an unconventional and as-of-yet untested defense strategy, arguing that Bitcoin is not the same as Currency in the context of gambling law.
That would better be called a prosecutorial fail. They managed to get Micon to plead to nearly nothing and no jail time. Nobody brings a case like that hoping for a result like that. Some revolutionary prosecution. I think they bit off more than they could chew and decided to save face, knowing that it's practically impossible to refuse a no jail time plea deal even if you think you're innocent of any crime.

In the post announcing the krillrolls: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=962440.msg11755609#msg11755609and the followup post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=962440.msg11755712#msg11755712The "these are now weekly/monthly/bi-monthly and tri-monthly" and "This is a regular thing now" is saying that these are permanent additions to the schedule. In addition, the fact that they didn't include a disclaimer like "these are only for (time period), management reserves the right to make changes" like they did every week with the krill leaderboard shows the intent of long-term rewards, as does management's urging of players to get their krill up so that they can play these events "in the future".

Teacher: Please use "now" in a sentence. What is the price of that sandwich now? What is the temperature now? How old are you now? What are the traffic conditions now? What is the value of the promotion now? Hey Dark Cloud, there is no poker site that has not changed their promotions. This is a small change by SwC. I have been fucked over by changes that other poker sites have done.

How about losing the god damn software crashes???
This has been going on for a long time and people are still bitching about it.
It might be ONE of the reasons that you almost never see more 200 players.
Too bad the krill aren't transferable to another place...
probably should just dump this and move on.
Anyone know of a decent site for BTC poker and sports betting?

Frequent software crashes screw up games all the time. Elsewise, some tournaments don't restart at the end of a break, but go into 'negative time' and who knows when they will restart. Also, I think it is rigged at open tables.... new handles show up, and call pot raises all the way that they never should, and suckout on the river. When you do get chips, take everything off the table that you won't use in tournements, no telling how long the site will be live. It may not be wise to go there at all. The same precaution about not leaving chips around because who knows when the site will dive may apply to other sites that you visit. HS

Oh no it's rigged because I lost money when somebody sucked out on the river against the odds. It happens on every site and it's a good thing Yes there is the occasional crash but I can reset it within one hand by closing the program and reopening it which takes 20 seconds. Although I haven't experienced the bug in the tourney break timer it was there when the software was running on Grid Poker who developed it. The crashes also happened on Grid.

I actually do have some krill from years ago. But I don't have any expectation anymore that I'll ever get to use it again. Frequent software crashes screw up games all the time. Elsewise, some tournaments don't restart at the end of a break, but go into 'negative time' and who knows when they will restart.
Yah, apparently the software is problematic. I have no idea as I've never gotten it to run. Also, I think it is rigged at open tables.... new handles show up, and call pot raises all the way that they never should, and suckout on the river.
Well, there it just sounds like you're describing texas holdem poker. When you do get chips, take everything off the table that you won't use in tournements, no telling how long the site will be live. It may not be wise to go there at all.
FWIW, the old sealswithclubs owners were very good at making account balances available to users with nonzero balances when they closed. I tend to suppose the new owners would do the same thing, but then again, I never leave large amounts of bitcoin on any site/service. The same precaution about not leaving chips around because who knows when the site will dive may apply to other sites that you visit.
Indeed.
