pool01.vanillacoin.net - strange pool
can't remember if i ever saw share counts invalid > valid in such considerable amounts,
and who's that guy with invalid ones all along ...
Yea spotted this sometime back, and he isn't even banned.....
May be pool operator and the developer of buggy miner are the same person, ask John about FPGA Wink

Of course I gave you bad advice. Good one is way out of your price range.

I intend to buy a AMD Radeon r9 280x for mining vanilla coin.
I look for a tutorial that explains how to mining vanilla and how optimized the AMD Radeon r9 280x for 400 Mh / s

Just download Smolen's miner and run it. I wouldn't advise to buy a GPU just now for mining Vanillacoins (or anything else) though, since block rewards dropped to 88 and FPGA's are just around the corner which will be far better in terms of energy efficiency.

But if you plan on buying a good GPU anyway for gaming and etc., go on.

I don't agree, you can find good used R9 280x for funny prices and FPGA miners wont kill GPU mining in terms of hash. The real advantage of FPGA's is in low power consumption which means almost nothing if someone wants to mine with 1 or 2 cards from gamer PC when PC isn't in the gaming purpose use and specialy if someone else is paying electricity bills Smiley

Buying a GPU just for mining right now, to mine VNL, means you'll never see that money back at current valuation and difficulty.

I wasn't suggesting buying 10 cards, but you obviously didn't read what I wrote, but yes if the guy is in buying only for mining and only for VNL then it's better to wait and buy FPGA once the miner is ready.

Or just buy coins from an exchange. Some relatively small investment (20-50 dollars) will get you more coins than 1 gpu rig can ever mine.

+1, if someone is looking into investing this would be advised rather than buying gpus for mining. Even if the price rises you won't have a solid chance as a small time miner because farms will instantly jump on the train.

I am mining it, but only because I had an old Darkcoin rig sitting around. Mostly for fun, but by far most of my coins are from buying them. Maybe a couple percent from mining.

Wouldn't all this pressure from miners dumping always drive the price of this coin down ? How will an uptrend emerge ?

The same way as an uptrend emerges on some popular PoW coins like DRK and XMR. Innovation will give birth to demand that will outstretch supply. Between pumps or "upward corrections" we will always see downwards corrections since the miners have to take profit.

If the O(1) routing is implemented (which will be superior to Bitcoins) and the UDP layer, John can focus on implementing zero confirm transaction which will be by far the most advanced instant transaction tech on the market. For the moment his focus is on the staking and highly energy efficient mobile wallets which will deal with partial blockchains to secure the network, these will be more advanced than what competitors offer currently.

We have plenty of innovations ahead of us, current price should never be the focus of a coin, but rather the future potential. John doesn't seem to go anywhere Smiley

Edit: Also please don't read this as an "invest right now" advice, I won't tell you that. Obviously the best would be (as by every investment) to buy in on the bottom, if you feel that it can go lower than wait it out.

Totally agree there, I mined and bought Darkcoin for a long time and eventually had massive gains. Gave up on XMR too quickly, but the loyal miners and holders there did amazingly well.

Also, I am pretty sure the other staking coins just drain battery, and are therefore gimmicks to meet roadmap objectives and "news", so this would be the first effective/real mobile wallet staking coin. From what I read, that is the real core of the plan, that mobile could actually be most of the network and make it pretty much invincible, which is very interesting given the size and growth of mobile.

Yeah, so far everything points in that direction, the features will be far more polished compared to the competition. The codebase is amazing and it gives the possibility for these upcomming features to run seamlessly. The main problem of the current mobile wallets is the same as with the coins itself, they are based on a codebase that is already several years old, innovation should be an endless process and not something that isn't (majorly) touched for years.

The problem with DRKs instant transaction is that it is based on masternodes, a flawed and centralised system (that could fail anytime) instead of just relying on the code and P2P network itself.

Also John already solved one of the bigger problems of Bitcoin/Peercoin, the scalability: https://talk.vanillacoin.net/topic/117/multitier-architecture

To all that others guys said about technical specifications regarding VNL development I’ll say that daily pressure is only around 20k new coins and this days I alone am buying at least 10% of that amount. In approximately 7 months that pressure will drop to some 17k of VNL per day and as interest in new technically advanced coin will grow that amount will be divided on higher number of miners, holders, investors, ...

edit
The biggest problem right now I think is difficulty retargeting algo which is once changed in favor of GPU miners but is now exploited by some big farm or multipool who jumps in or out based on their profitability calculation. Anyway only john-connor knows why he changed that from, if I remeber right, 2 weeks regatargeting to this ultra short retargeting period.

... and vanilla is flavor who can last forever  Grin

EDIT
Huh Sorry it seems I miscalculated all things wrong.
So next block reward drop will happen in aprox. 2 months (every 50k blocks or is it 40k?!?)

Some coins are short term and others have a chance at lasting, I think this one has a chance. In 7 months I am sure we will be way higher or lower though, hopefully way higher. Smiley
