Just scan the QR code found here: https://talk.vanillacoin.net/topic/150/android-beta-apk/2 with your camera app (if it has that feature) or download a QR code reader. Download + Install. (You may need to give permission for installing apps from unknown sources in the Android settings)

Went forward and sent all my Vanillas to my phone for staking. Good that I don't need to run my PC just for this.
Don't forget to do a backup of your wallet.dat to another secure location (instructions in the FAQ) and maybe put a passcode up for the lockscreen in case anything happens.

Could I perhaps request a bit of a clearer explanation? How do I backup my Android mobile wallet? Close vanillacoin app > go to /data/data/net.vanillacoin.vanillacoin/data/ > backup wallet.dat
I was just hoping for a clearer step by step...it's kind of something that I don't want to mess up. Would be greatly appreciated... 1) Install the Android apk from https://talk.vanillacoin.net/topic/150/android-beta-apk/2) Sync the ledger/blockchain on the app 3) Close the app 4) Connect your phone to your PC and open your file manager. Navigate to your phone's storage. 5) Go to Android > data > net.vanillacoin.vanillacoin (this is the path on my Meizu, but some phones may have it under /data/data/net.vanillacoin.vanillacoin/). You will find your wallet.dat here. This is the same file that is used by your PC wallet since the mobile wallet is running the native code. Copy this file to a secure location (Pendrive/PC/whatever). I copied it to my pc and put it in a zip with a 3 word password. 6) Possibly put a passcode on your Phone's lockscreen for the case it goes missing and an app with which you can remote wipe it If your phone goes missing or you erased it's contents you can use your saved wallet.dat in a desktop client (you should use a fresh one). Just download a new client (try to always use a fresh install for this to avoid any issues) open it so it deploys the needed files under the Roaming folder than close it. Go to C: > Users > Username > AppData > Roaming > Vanillacoin > and copy the wallet.dat here.

Thank you for the step by step; much appreciated. Regarding the above quoted, does that mean if I lose my phone (knock on wood) that I would just be able to copy/paste the android .dat file into the web wallet and be able to retrieve the coins? If so, that's pretty cool... Every platform (iOS/OSX/Android/Win) uses the same wallet.dat with the same native code, so just save a copy from your wallet.dat which you are using and nothing can go wrong. This is one of the reasons why VNL's source code is superior to altcoins and bitcoin, it could be easily ported to any smart device. Same goes for John's MinerPP project, you could mine VNL with almost anything. We already have everything what 21co is promising the people without ICO/IPO/External investors, we just have to wait for the world to notice

We already have everything what 21co is promising the people without ICO/IPO/External investors, we just have to wait for the world to notice Yeah...I am definitely a fan of VNL and will probably remain so. I have no real stomach for much of the altcoin scene nowadays... More quick questions - I transferred most of my coins to the android wallet and backed up the .dat in three locations (too much? Nah!). Do I need to do anything extra to enable staking? And will updates occur automatically? I imagine that the android app is not in its final form... Nothing more needed for the coins to stake except you need to gain coin age, so just wait for the first stakes to arrive. John transfered also atleast a few thousand coins to his mobile wallet (or so he wrote on IRC) and it took him 2 days to start staking. It matters on the quantity and time passed, similar to how staking coins have netweight and an expected time to stake according to it. I transfered all my coins and I'm waiting since 15 hours or so now. You have to manually update now in the beta phase since it's not in the Play Store with automatic updates, but this shouldn't matter as long as there is no mandatory update. My wallet is syncing every few minutes so it's working, you can see a sync button appearing sometimes in the status bar. Additional features may be still implemented soon.

Anyone ever do the "no jerking it" challenge with their friends before? That's what this PoW pause is like.

i wonder why POW pause but diff still around 12k? With no new blocks being generated it can't recalculate the difficulty so it will just sit at 12k until the next block and diff will adjust again
