Faucets are a waste of time. You can barely earn 1 cent a day from them. I think they are good for new people to test the bitcoin client and see how stuff works. I don't understand how faucets could be bad for bitcoin.
Thanks to faucets, I started getting interested with Bitcoin because they allowed for me to experience it on first person, with actual transactions and for free. Now I have more than 1 BTC and faucets made me stick around.

OP when people get into bitcoin, you cant expect them to put their money that they worked hard and long for into something completely new to them, faucets give them a small amount to test with, alot of the businesses you speak of started of with a guy getting their first few satoshis using faucets, Its the people that only rely on faucets that cause a problem Faucets shouldnt be an income It should be a stepping stone
long story short, there will always be faucets

Faucets are bad or good and useful they are not going anywhere, you can not forbid them. Faucets do not overload network because the human resources are limited.

I have to agree faucets cant be source of your income. But the faucets allowed me to test how Bitcoin works and whether it is really secure on my computer. Without trying it for free I dont know if I would ever considered to buy Bitcoins without idea if it works. Obviously I dont waste time with faucets anymore, but for newcommers faucets are very usefull. You're completely wrong, see "Check Payments" in my signature and you'll see that it's a little more than 1 cent per day. It is not a question can you earn with faucet, but in what way you doing this. I do not see nothing wrong with them, they can only contribute to the growth of Bitcoin users

Doesn't that happen with normal money too? Like there are thousands of websites that offer you ''free'' money or money for tasks. There is nothing wrong with faucets, actually they are beneficial, they help people to start with bitcoins and learn how to use them even if they only get low amounts.

Yup! that is why most faucets are hard to claim and has different task you need to do when you are using faucet sites, because mining is hard and not free that is why they are giving just a small amount on faucets it is unfair if they give large amount of money in faucets because bitcoin really starts in mining, the only good thing about faucets it is absolutely free.

Of course mining Bitcoin is hard, but I think they don't mine the Bitcoin themselves, in fact they buy the Bitcoin or even earn it online (Gambling, Trading, Campaign).

Bro they give you small amounts of money because they want to profit aswell and believe me some faucet owners make a ton of money with their faucets, the ''tasks'' are there to prevent people from using bots to claim. Websites like freebitco.in make a lot of money each month

Why is it bad for the owner of this site? I think not! because of the small amount on faucet even if the amount of bitcoin is up, it can never affect this site, and besides they have a thread here that introduce faucets to newbies.

Oh god your english gave me eye cancer. I assume you are talking about the owner of any faucet site and no this forum, the owners of faucets usually make profit from them, they close the faucet if they are not getting profit but i can tell you the top faucet owners make a lot of money.

Faucets rewards keep being a good start to meet bitcoin, even knowing that the beginers may give up since they will spend some hours into them and earn something like 1 dollar, but well there isnt currently a better and easy way to earn income them faucets, and signatures as people find this forum.Admin of faucets as advertisers are making a good income related to bitcoins, even google is taking advantage of the high traffic faucets brings.

I'm with the camp that think faucets are still relevant as a way for newbies to get into bitcoins.
It's still extremely useful for getting people used to the concept of bitcoins without any risk.
Bitcoin may be well known, but doesn't mean it is widely accepted.
People are a lot more willing to at take a closer look at it and play around with it when there aren't any risks involved.

When BTC started, nobody had any and it was worthless, so it was right to give away thousands of BTC to make it popular. All that has changed. Now that BTC's worth something, now that companies are building on BTC, now that serious business transactions are made with bitcoin, it's about time for faucets to adapt.
BTC is real. It's money, and you've got to work to earn some. I hope all faucets will disappear in 2015. Faucets are hurting bitcoin by making some people believing you can get it while doing nothing sitting in your home. No, BTC isn't like that, and it shouldn't be any easier to get than any fiat currency. Even for small amounts.
i disagree, i believe faucets are really good for bitcoin, as new bitcoin users can easily hit up a faucet and get some free coins to try btc out.

i think, faucet must be keep alive, just because many people have new experiment with bitcoin, and they should try a free bitcoin without risk, without worrying that they can lose their money cause a bitcoin price, they should be have many experiment and know about everything about bitcoin include bitcoin faucet, and i think nowdays faucet have a limited and very small amount of free bitcoin, and while i post this,i think many faucet was closing their website with any reason

What can someone test with half a cent worth of bitcoin, that you can't just search up and/or ask? Thinking about it, there's literally nothing that gives you profound knowledge in holding a micro-micro-micro amount of bitcoin. LBH, that's what the Beginners and Help section is for; ask!
