How are they bad? They provide a solid stream of transaction. Also new people can get free bitcon and steadily see the possibilities?

yeah i dont any bad thing about faucets, faucets is like a welcome advertisement for bitcoin to get you started with little satoshi in
your wallet. maybe the OP thinks that faucets brings the easy earning money vibe to new comers which is correct, but faucet has
been a huge help advertising bitcoin.

Yes without faucets it would have been very much tough for me to bring my friends into bitcoin ecosystem. Due to those free satoshi many people just wanted to test bitcoin transactions. Faucets are doing great job of initial attraction towards bitcoin also helps us to understand how bitcoin transactions work.

Ya true faucets are handy for people that want to start to know about bitcoin.
And faucets is also a goodway to learn about gambling Tongue if you like gambling at least.

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

I guess you are talking about the free satoshis given by gambling sites as freebie. I'm a enthusiastic gambler from those free money. Many gambling sites just give some 500 to 1000 satoshis to try or to kick start with their games. Some exchanges also provide free coins, we use them for gambling.

That's right. I like faucets for the start of having experience with BTC and how the wallet works.
Faucets don't give very much, but i like it to win sometimes a little bit by gambling with the btc you earn from some faucets.

When BTC started, nobody had any and it was worthless, so it was right to give away thousands of BTC to make it popular. All that has changed. Now that BTC's worth something, now that companies are building on BTC, now that serious business transactions are made with bitcoin, it's about time for faucets to adapt.

BTC is real. It's money, and you've got to work to earn some. I hope all faucets will disappear in 2015. Faucets are hurting bitcoin by making some people believing you can get it while doing nothing sitting in your home. No, BTC isn't like that, and it shouldn't be any easier to get than any fiat currency. Even for small amounts.

Faucets doesn't give bitcoins for free, they gives you money for watching advertisments and through which they earn some money and gives you some proportion of it.

It is for free tho, the ads are there but you are not forced to see them or click on them at any moment, you can always just ignore them. If you don't consider that free I don't know what free is then

Oh, and what I do is get small payments from faucets then buy new and emerging coins on exchanges, day trade and sometimes you have great like and can quadruple your profit in a day !

With the worst signature payout you can earn 10k sat for message so far.
With a good faucet (moonbit) you need at least 4 claim in 24 hours to get this amount.
Are you sure about this ? I think that signature are much much better than faucet!

Good post.  For bitcoin to BE money, people need to treat it as money.  The best way to "Join the Bitcoin Revolution" so to speak.  Is to get a job, earn money, putyour paycheck into Bitcoin, and learn how to spend it in bitcoin.  And I can almost guarantee that those pioneers will have bigger "bitcoin estates" than the late comers.

When bitcoin starts really moving, and technically it has begun the slow march up, then people CAN make money sitting on their butts and while they sleep - but only if they have Bitcoin already.  You don't get Bitcoin, money or anything without working, a job, a plan, a dream, something productive.

I am going full bore earning everything I can and learning the bitcoin system, and getting the bitcoins.  I can guarantee everyone here that this is one of the rarest moments in the history of human civilization..... where anyone with a will, even if they are poor, can get in on something and change their stars, their financial future.

WORK.... EARN MONEY..... TRANSFER IT TO BITCOIN...... LEARN TO LIVE IN BITCOIN...... BE ONE OF THE FIRST, A PIONEER.

... and it will just happen naturally.

Peace,
- david

I don't think that Faucets was bad. I quite enjoy experimenting with Faucets as a newbie.

That was a good thing to learn how bitcoin also works.

it really bored use to fill captcha to get small amounts of btc.
25k sat in 2 hours :O it's a really small amount,
with signature you can make 5 easy post in one hour (there are some signature that pay j.member also for off topic / local post!)
when you become a more "old" user you can earn much much more from a signature campaign... 55k for every post... 4 hours of faucet work!
Some works are payed more than 50 $ per hours ... I think that my time worth more than a couple of satoshi Wink
Also with betting... @ 1.05 ... place 0,01 btc you get easily 40k satoshi...

It's really not that bad for bitcoin. I think most people who use faucets are beginners and just getting to know bitcoin. That's the way I started out.

Faucets claimers are really not getting that much by doing faucets so I don't believe it will actually do any harm.

No, I used to do faucets and it's really not that much. I've seen some sites only had worth of $35 on their site.

You don't really gain much from claiming it will take a long while before you'll reach 1btc

I used to claim around 50000 satoshi which is around $0.17 so not worth it for me.

So, no I don't this has a negative effect on bitcoin overall.

I agree that the signature campaign is a good source of income, but can be combined all, signature+faucets or sport betting Smiley

Faucets introduce bitcoins for the most now present at bitcoin, besides those, they show the small transactions being able ,the low fees.Besides those the faucets are generating traffic and a lot money is being spent at them soo faucets arent a waste but sure isnt a fortune to claim satoshis at faucets, but well before to make 0,17dollars dailyit cost you clicks since the main income were from paid to click.

Do you know in earlier days some faucets used to give 1 bitcoin per claim? The amount of reward in faucets depends on the rate of bitcoin at that time.If bitcoin rate to dollar is low, you get more reward,it is the other way around when bitcoin rate is high. When I first learnt about bitcoin,1 btc was less than 200 $ so most faucets gave 1000 sat per claim

I for one did not know this. I thought they were rewarding satoshi just because it wasn't worth much and takes forever to collect 1 btc.

I have to disagree with your point.  I don't think they harm bitcoin at all, myself when I first came across bitcoin I found faucets and these allowed me to get my first taste of bitcoin.

I knew straight away from the amount that was given there was no way that I would get rich by using faucets, it did however allow me to start using a wallet and send some bitcoin to exchanges and from there learn more about bitcoin and altcoins, it is a great entry point for people to learn about bitcoin I really don't think it hurts anyone.
