If tapeout is now how is it possible to see hardware in march?
What do you mean? Not enough time?

I'm interested in this too They can have chips today, but they haven't got actual physical hardware in hand yet. They would need to develop boards, tune them, and send the final designs to get mass produced. I can't see this process being under a month. I really have no idea what I'm talking about but chips =/= hardware. Successful tapeout is AMAZING news but that doesn't mean they will be on a shelf at a store near you tomorrow. They still need to get the rest of it sorted out. Be mid-Feb at the earliest unless they are magicians.

Also a lot of the hardware they have put out has seen different revisions. I think the USBs went through a few different versions before the Sapphire release which rocked, even the Cube that came out has different revs of miniblades... Even the firmware on the Cube takes time to put together. This is new gen to them, so I don't think they'll be able to hammer off boards this weekend but they will probably be pushing as hard as they can. I know that when I buy a next gen Block Erupter I'll want it to be thoroughly tested and tuned!
Also, unfortunately... We went to order some random cables from China this week and today they told us they were taking off for their holiday (Chinese New Year). They said they'd be back in the office Feb 8th. This may apply to many of the suppliers and services they may need to use in the next few weeks. So they might not only be able to start working mid-Feb. But... Again, I have no idea what I'm talking about, just going from common sense really.

I'm loving the name, mc_lovin, one of my favorite films, but I'm not sure what "ordering some random cables from China" has to do with AM working on next-gen chips. I humbly suggest the two are not connected. I'd also suggest you get your cables elsewhere because your "cable guys" are pulling a fast one

dividends have been dropping but share price rising?
What information do I not have? or is market volume too shallow to even consider.

I can tell you've been "off the grid" for a while I'll keep this short. Share price is rising in anticipation of Gen3 hardware ... coming "soon"

Right. Manufacturers will close for 3-7days in the Chinese New Year. That's the legal holiday week.

It depends on FC's management idea and the impetus of employee. A big rest before the real battle is just reasonable. Calm down. Don't let our imagination run wild.

I'm suggesting that AM are working, not taking extended vacations just because some random cable supplying company in China gives a bs excuse about not being able to deliver on time - the two are completely unconnected I know lots of Chinese people in Thailand .... they take a couple of days off - certainly don't stop work for a month

One thing I do think though is I always presumed this current share prize "boom" was based on some inside info about the tapeout. Seemed rational to me....
If that isn't the case, and it was simply people seeing the 20th January date looming nearer and pour money back into AM, then I can only conclude:
a) Some people are real dumbasses, and b) If FC doesn't issue a statement before Friday, the share price will be back to 0.50 or lower without a problem by the weekend

History tells us yes, AM info leaks out via "webgirls" and resellers before it reaches this "official" forum.

No wonder we all feel so "left behind" - in the end, we just tend to get the info 2nd-hand from Chinese forum members here kind enough to pass the info on. ASICMINER said they would employ a "PR person" .... at least 3 months ago. So far, zippo.

Many times before updates we have seen a sudden price increase even when the news is not spectacular. For example last update we saw the price jump and after the update fall back down and people claimed insider trading then too.

I'm sorry, but this post is a bit... silly. Of course the CEO wants to make more money... but unless every single employee is a shareholder, of course they are going to take a vacation, given the chance!

We know the number of "core staff" at ASICMINER is very small. All I'm saying is I very much doubt they will be taking a week off at such a pivotal point in time. Entrepreneurs don't work like that in my experience, they are driven. The factory staff are probably doing nothing at this stage, its not like there are any chips to manufacture or package. So sure, they could probably take the next 2 months off and nobody would notice.

If that is people just waiting for the 20th, then they are dumb schmucks. They should have just bought on the 10th and saved themselves 50%
