Truly sorry @georgem - funds are tight this month I haven't placed my new Rpi3 order yet.

No need to apologize, I am looking forward to your feedback, and thanks for your support. Smiley

However, maybe I dreamed that on the first page it says:

Yes, but that is the old inactive thread of the previous developer.
It's a little confusing... I know...
but it will sort itself out over time.

By the way, just on a sidenote,  there is a tested Raspberry Pi 3 version of the Spreadcoin Daemon ready for your download:

http://spreadcoin.info/downloads/SpreadCoinARMv864.tar.xz

It's a 64bit ARMv8 build, so it won't work on older Raspberry Pi's, but it works very well on the Raspberry Pi 3.

Anyone already tested the raspberry Pi 3 build?

Come on guys, work with me!   Smiley

Feedback would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Georgem, any preview of your latest creation?

Lots of improvements everywhere. Update coming soon.

The Spreadwallet is now capable of succesfully identifying and recognizing your local nodes (and separating them from external nodes),
and figuring out whether they are raspberry pi's or from other manufacturers.

I am using a combination of arp (address resolution protocol), netstat (network statistics) and pinging
coupled with access to a list of IEEE 802®-2001 OUI (Organizationally Unique Identifier, see http://standards-oui.ieee.org/oui.txt)
that I use to lookup the manufacturer of a device (based on MAC-Address).

This way I get a good overview over the environment the SpreadWallet is operated in (devices, manufacturers, IPs, MAC-Addresses, etc..).

Local Nodes that are in full control of the SpreadWallet are now automatically shown with grey background and device symbol (if available - currently only rasp pi).
External Nodes that are not in control of the SpreadWallet (but which are used to create a "SPV"-style connection) are shown with transparent background,
as you can see in the pic above.

More Info soon. Lots of interesting details are in the making...  Cool

Thanks again to my patrons for their support and patience.

Any news? Why the price is rising?

We have lots of Dash-People here, so I guess they don't know what to do with all that extra money, LMAO!  Grin
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: March 03, 2017, 04:52:41 PM
wow, lot's of stuff happening and I can barely keep up with everything.

I have had 2 people ask me if I want to sell my SPR in bulk.

I noticed you had posted in the past that you had some SPR holdings you were divesting for various dev / personal expenses. If you have some SPR for sale in bulk at market rate I may be interested in putting some BTC in your wallet.

Are you still interested in selling your SPR?  If so, name your price.

Well, I don't. Not directly. Not all at once, or to a single person.
But I will continuously sell some of my SPR to buy hardware for my SPR projects.... (raspberry cluster, spread miner, mining operation, better computers, etc...)
... as I have done a few times already. I think that's the best way and helps me the most.

Currently I am still accumulating Raspberry Pi's and am in need of additional powersupplies and memory cards.

So I placed 10k SPR at 3200 Satoshis, which should equate to ca 400$. Should be enough to finish a preliminary 8x Raspberry Cluster and show how "a network simulation" will look like.

Sorry, everything is a giant construction site and I am behind schedule.
But good things are coming.

Thanks everybody, and especially to my patrons.

Great job.

Weird that you don't get more attention here, you totally deserve it.

I like the tool very much.

I will try and install it on a small webshop I'm implementing.

Thanks for your service.

Do you know the general cost to run a Spreadcoin node?

Power consumption of a Raspberry Pi is almost negligible.
Bandwidth costs depend on your provider (free/flat in most cases).

I suggest you try it out.... but I believe the operation costs are not worth mentioning, that's how small they are.

I absolutely will add monitoring tools to the SpreadWallet that will measure bandwidth/temperature/connections etc of the raspberry pi's within its local network, and display graphs etc.
We will then get more knowledge to create more spezialized versions of raspberry pi builds.

Will be fun!  Wink

My Raspberry Pi 3's get to 60-65 degrees Celsius during the initial blockchain sync (during which the CPU goes to 100% continuously)...
I suggest buying a case with fan, .... or.... just copy the blockchain data to the raspberry pi so that it doesn't have to do the initial sync by itself.
(Also something that the SpreadWallet will help facilitate)

Would be nice if someone else could test this build.
Would be even nicer if some people could install some long term raspberry pi nodes to help Spreadcoin with full nodes.  Smiley

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

BTW, I'm struggling a little to release the next SpreadWallet-Update to my patrons, too many open threads I need to untangle but it won't take much longer.
Stay tuned.

Hey Patrons,
work is progressing nicely, most of the ca 20 work hours invested during the last 2 weeks were spent on improving some base classes,
and this will result in a bigger update (or two) during this last week of february.
Thanks for your patience.

I will cram as much as I can into the rest of this week. Stay tuned.  Wink
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: February 14, 2017, 04:16:19 PM
Stay tuned, I have the next update almost ready.

Here are screenshots of the linux and mac versions

As you see, it looks more or less exactly the same as the windows version, which is one of my design goals.

Now, I have to finish 2 functions first that I have started and that need to be finished before I can release the next update, or else it's gonna be a mess.
So stay tuned, shouldn't take much time.  Smiley
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: February 13, 2017, 02:40:58 PM
You might want to reconsider. If it wasn't for eth I wouldn't have used a deamon at all. It's been about four years since I got into crypto, and I have never used a deamon if there was a qt-wallet.
Not that I can't, I am lazy. I want to click and not type. It will definitely be a deterring point for new comers though.

For lazy people who can't start/stop a local node manually,
the SpreadWallet will do it for you, lol.
(also, it will ship with a daemon included in a subfolder, for people who are too lazy to download it themselves, sigh)

 Grin
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: February 13, 2017, 12:39:25 PM
Actually all I did was open the wallet and click on "sync all nodes".  I didn't put any parameters in.  I just used whatever was built into the existing conf file.

Ok, so it connected to the 24/7 online SPR seed node.
Syncing with that Node over SPV is fast indeed.

The idea is that in the future the spreadwallet will come packed together with the spreadcoin-daemon, and that you are supposed to sync with that local node primarily.
And if that isn't possible for you (for whatever reason, slow internet, no time to do a full sync, etc...) you can always use a SPV connection.

But you can always also ...connect with the upcoming Servicenodes themselves.  Grin

(but only if you run a spreadcoin-daemon, which is what will give you access to the servicenode-network)

The Spreadwallet aims to separate the Qt-Wallet from the Daemon, that's why in the future you will not see any new Qt-Wallet for Spreadcoin but only a plain daemon.

The Spreadwallet is like a complex GUI-Wallet for the Spreadcoin-Daemon (and other coins daemons).
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: February 13, 2017, 11:25:55 AM
All I have to say is HOLY SHIT that spread coin preview wallet sync's extremely fast.  I had a full working wallet in under 7 minutes!  WTG @georgem!

Looks neat, thanks, Win 10 I believe?

Hey, to be honest, it's not a fully working wallet yet, but we are getting there and I like your enthusiasm.  Cheesy

Did you connect it with an external or local node?
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: February 12, 2017, 08:45:41 PM
YOU GOTTA HOLD THE SHIFT KEY DOWN!!

lol, yeah I remember that!

GO SPREADCOIN!!!

BTW, I am removing the VanityGen from the SpreadWallet.
It will not be embedded as an in-wallet-vanitygen anymore,
instead it will be embedded as an external module, like a "Worker" so to speak,
it will be listed like a "Node" in the upper right corner and be responsible for everything VanityGen related.
(both CPU/GPU and for multiple coins simultaneously of course. OF COURSE!)

116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: February 12, 2017, 08:37:13 PM
I am very thankful to everybody who keeps mining (and trading) SPR, especially in this interim time (before I will be able to release the SpreadWallet, plus a new Spreadcoin-Daemon and more).

I take my hat off to you guys.
You are awesome!

I will never do anything that jeopardizes the value of SPR (as far as it is in my control),
and I will do everything I can to create applications that will add value to SPR (and only SPR)
by being unique, innovative and useful.

Stay tuned!

 Cool

@Patrons: sorry I got a little bit distracted today, please allow another 24 hours for the next update. Thanks.
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: February 12, 2017, 08:24:20 PM
Don't you think this could work well for everyone? Spreadcoin stays as you want it to develop; an economic fork goes down a different path and raises money for development work - you being a self-employed software engineer could end up being paid to work full time on a project which probably also benefits your work on Spreadcoin?

People around here get two for the price of one, and no need to choose between the red pill or the blue pill.

You must be trolling.

The economy around a coin and its development are one and the same.
The latter begets the first and vice versa.
How can they be separated?

This makes absolutely no sense to me.
Contemplating something like this (not that it makes any logical sense whatsoever) would be like showing the middlefinger to everybody who is holding, buying or mining SPR right now.

That's what baffles me about all the ICO-scams which work similarly to what you describe. They aren't even logical to begin with.
Let's buy coin A, so that we can fund coin B's development...?

I can't even....  Huh

Look, the value of a coin is what attracts miners, which is what gives a coin its cryptographical strength.
We are not gonna mess with this dynamic, that would be suicidal.
118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: February 12, 2017, 03:55:45 PM
In my opinion DASH's track record regarding decentralization is really horrible,
and no amount of Buzzwords is going to offset that.

The SpreadWallet is not just a multiwallet, but a testbed for the research and integration of ServiceNodes.
That's the whole reason why it exists. It's not like I had this random urge to create a multiwallet.
No, the design of the SpreadWallet is intentional because it enables ServiceNodes as the next step.

This should get more clear the further I progress with its development.

I have no opinion for or against creating another Fork, anyone is free to create any fork of any coin any time.
Just don't confuse people around here.
It's a mess anyway, and as I said repeatedly I will need to clean quite a few things up or newcomers will be lost.

So expect some change.
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: February 12, 2017, 01:41:48 PM
My admonishment of georgem for his casual abuse of “official” was in pursuit of a mature level of discussion *.

This has been the official spreadcoin thread for quite some time now.
So what is your agenda now?

In the same irresponsible way that you gave away access to spreadcoin's github to way too many people (without doing any kind of background check)
you now want to redefine what the word "official" means, right?

That should be fun.

But fear not, I am here to clean up the mess, and there is a lot of work ahead of me.
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: February 12, 2017, 01:16:43 PM
About 12 months ago you said that you didn't have access to Mr Spread's code with the original masternode implementation. Have you found it now?

Are you just making stuff up now?

BTW...

How are the crowncoin whitepapers coming along?

I heard you guys ran into a forking problem...
... you do sound a little bit more pissed than usual...
