Did you manage to get all your text captions sorted Georgem?
Yes, we can consider the overview screen finished. Thanks for your input.

Well, there is another important thing we could put into the overview site, a more thorough list of "Recent Events". As you can see in the header, it says now "Recent Events" instead of Recent Transactions. The goal will be that in the future we are going to list Events that are not only transactions, but that could be many more interesting things that happened or that you triggered: 1) Backup you made, 2) Wallet expanded the keypool (very important to know) 3) Spare Change went to new Address. 4) more background wallet events that can be interesting to know. 5) Vanity generated an address 6) Servicenode Events, etc.. Maybe the 4 big buttons take too much space away and are not really that helpful. I think I will reduce the space they occupy and embed a table list that will act as Main Recent Event list. I think that will be a good idea, because it is also what pretty much all software does in their main overview screen. For example: Photoshop lists the last pictures I edited, QCreator list the recent projects I worked with, etc... I think we can't have an overview without a good recent event list. I think I will pass on that for now, so that I can finally release the wallet. But it will be a future feature for sure.

Ask GeorgeM what is his previous coding experience?
I have 30 years experience with coding in different languages, and I will also go fully public over the next few months with my identity. Sorry, I have no time for gifs (SFW or NSWF) anymore, lol, but the community can expect a lot of animations and simulations that will help spreadcoin. Don't waste your time GeorgeM. That's exactly the kind of reaction he wants to get. I hope I'm wrong about who it is. I was addressing the community to be honest.

Why not put those talents to good use.

.....BTW, is it wise to also embed twitter, irc, facebook and others? meh...
nice touch. Wallets can always be updated. I'm sure we'll need an update, or 10. Well we should omit stuff that changes too often. That's why for example I don't want to embed a price ticker, because I don't want to have any external dependencies that can disappear or break. Not all persons will update their wallet all the time, and I don't want them to see anything "broken" at any time. I guess the twitter and facebook account is in our control, and will stay so, so I will add them. OK. Thinking about it, they are a centralized feature The links are embedded. That's a good point and something I thought of too. Well, there is another important thing we could put into the overview site, a more thorough list of "Recent Events". Wallet button: Click here to send coins, view your transactions, manage your address book and backup your wallet. Mining button: Click here to view current and historical network mining data. Settings button: Click here to change local network settings, application behaviour and display options.
You are correct in that we don't need to mention to people that they can use CPU miner. But in the future we should work on an update to embed the GPU miner into the wallet, and then it will make sense to mention mining again. Also: for upcoming testnet wallet the CPU mining process will ofcourse be relevant again because that's where our tSPR will come from.

Very nice! What about VanityGen? Can you do something with keywords like "unique addresses", "stand out", "individual", "create your own", "automatic" or "runs in background". Something like that.

Official Forum: Make that:
Technical Support
For all the links at the bottom we can make them look like that: "For the most up-to-date Downloads or News: Official Website" "For Tutorials and Technical Support: Official Forum" "For troll-infested chatter and amusing rants: BCT" something like that, I am not good with words... I really like these! I think they are perfect! They are pretty good. Maybe just change the order Official Website For the most up-to-date Downloads or News Official Forum For Tutorials and Technical Support Bitcointalk Forum For General Discussion edit Can't see any typos Great. I was thinking about making the bottom buttons of the same style we use at the website: This will make them stand out more. So maybe add a bottom line with smaller font to the buttons. BTW, is it wise to also embed twitter, irc, facebook and others?

I am not sure, sometimes I say up-to-date, then again I write uptodate... what is correct? When should I start a Word with Capital letter? etc..

..."For troll-infested chatter and amusing rants: BCT" something like that, I am not good with words... Not something like that, exactly like that. lol haha, I am sure you can express this with even more BITE! I am just saying, lets use this format for all bottom links: "For X and Y, (go to ) Z" Now make me proud!

Can you seduce our eyes with more such oneliners please... we need one for the wallet, the vanitygen, the mining and the settings menu.
Can I have a copy of the new QT so I can see what is behind those buttons? An artist needs his muse... They just lead to their specific target. Much like when you press the category buttons in the left sidebar.

Go with it!
Thanks for your help.

"Welcome to SpreadCoin, the project that is building a network where any application or service can be run in a decentralised manner."
Hm... I have been starring at the sentence for 10 minutes. The only thing that bugs me a tiny little bit is the word "any". Can we change that to make it so that it rather includes keywords with a meaning like "modular" and "your own" (or similar), but not necessarily "any", because I can think of applications that can't ever run in a trustless or decentralized manner. Does it work like this? : "Welcome to SpreadCoin, the project that is building a network where any possible application or service can be run in a decentralised manner." This reinforces the notion that impossible applications can't run on our network, and leaves the door open for us to explain in the future what such a "possible" application has to look like.

I can't think of a way to make that one liner better. I appreciate it doesn't capture the now but that's a job for project updates.
Maybe we could include a link to a thread on spreadcointalk for latest project updates instead?
okok, I was pulling your leg. Can you seduce our eyes with more such oneliners please... we need one for the wallet, the vanitygen, the mining and the settings menu.

Now if you could come up with brilliant oneliners for the 4 boxes. That would be great!
|
|
|
.... But keep in mind that we already have a section of the header reserved for "network information": so I am not sure More along the lines of And people hardly ever know about things like halving dates, or emissions smoothing calculations in the case of SPR I understand. I now think that it would be better to move those specifications to their own screen, and just put a link to that screen on the overview site. (Plus an entry in the menu that lets you jump to specification screen) ok.
Sounds like a plan
Yes, I think we have the introductory section surrounded: 1) Title: Spreadcoin - Decentralize everything. 2) followed by stonehedge's brilliant oneliner. 3) followed by alert messages etc (will show up only if required) 4) followed by a link to the specification list.
|
|
|
..... the emissions curve...brb ......... Plus, main features? found it: On second thought, all those specifications can easily fill up the whole overview site, so maybe we are going to need an additional screen JUST for the specifications, and link to it from the overview screen. Let's do it like this. I'd rather want the structure of the overview screen to stay clean: 1) Introductory text + Important Messages (followed by a small button called "Spreadcoin - Specification" which leads to the specification screen) 2) Boxes in the middle that explain the main cageories within the wallet. (e.g. Wallet (Pic + title), go here if you want to receive or send SPR or take a look at any transaction, blablabla) 3) Important links at the bottom.
