It's so funny seeing what patterns other people come up with: Still looking, but I like it so far As its going to take a while ( ) Come on chaps, lets all try to find Satoshi Finding 12 char "Servicenodes" still makes you Master of the Universe, 15 char "SatoshiNakamoto" merely proves that you are in fact Satoshi himself. Nice find BTW, best pattern yet. Maybe, once I have the load/save JSON functionality ready, we can share our "best search patterns" lists. Having 100s of people search for the same patterns will increase the chance that atleast one of us will be lucky with those top notch names. (good for publicity)

@georgem
Silly question about the Vanity Gen.
If we close the wallet and then restart it does the wallet pick back up the search at that point or does it restart the search all over?
Thanks
Vanity Gen is like throwing dice or a coin. So it's all about probability, not about "work already done". You just keep a valid chance for success if you don't stop playing.Imagine you have thrown a dice 100 times and it STILL hasn't shown a "6"... Now, the fallacy is to believe that the cube now really really "owes" you the "6" the next time you throw, because throwing 100 times and NOT finding a 6 is so highly unlikely, that throwing 101 times and FINDING a "6" must be extremely LIKELY, right? But that's not how it works, the probability for the 101st throw to be a "6" is exactly the same it has been for all the previous 100 times: 1/6th It's the same with the Vanity Gen: all your previous work does not make a certain result more "imminent". Therefor "previous work" doesn't need to be picked back up, because it doesn't influence future success or probability. This is also the reason I decided to just display a "50% chance in X" info, and not give people false hope by displaying some sort of "timer".

..... while I look into basic first iteration of the servicenode concept. I do have a few ideas... The white paper is basically done. Just reading over to make corrections now (see sig if you want to comment) Servicenode testing with Bitcoin incentives program as first service. Feature requests: * Servicenode health check - I think this is already in the code and part of the plan, but a servicenode that is working as it should be. * Payment mechanism to servicenodes running full bitcoin node * Basic scripts that pull data out of full bitcoin nodes. Nothing that seeks to reveal the IP details of transactions being relayed by the bitcoin nodes: as far away from the elliptic.co model of tracking users as possible. * Ability to skew payments to Bitcoin nodes being operated in developing countries. While we don't yet have a definition of developing countries, ability to skew payments to certain IP locations would be interesting. This is to encourage decentralization of VPS options, plus encourage people to get nodes closer to where there will be far more SPV wallets with few if any Bitcoin node peers close by. * possibility of having 10,000 bitcoin nodes over the long term Excellent. I will take my time today and read it. 5k SPR bounty for SPR explorer
Already got one person interested.
I want that SPR! So I am interested too.

If there was a way to find the public key, keep the private key safely hidden (I know, near impossible), then you could sell these. Perhaps it would be an incentive for people to keep nodes up, running and 'mining'. The prospect of getting something that might have some value Vanitypools exist, and they have found a way of dealing with this problem, so there is definitely a solution. I'll look into it sometime in the future, but I do consider the in-wallet-vanitygen side project finished and am looking into the next steps to create a first testnet version of rudimentary basic servicenodes. With the current preview wallet I'll just finish the open bugs (plus load/save feature of vangen worklist) and create the new versions for all systems, (I'll need your feedback guys) then I will need to update the website (add Newssection) and create a blockexplorer, all that while I look into basic first iteration of the servicenode concept. I do have a few ideas...

Didn't match case for this one: edit The one I really want will take 7 years....see you then 7 years? Why is your hashrate so low? Even with just one thread (215 Kkey/s) it takes me only about 50 days for a 50% chance of finding SUPERMAN with MatchCase activated. EDIT: oh, you were probably talking about a completely different pattern then... I see... Can you guys post a few Hashrates, and what CPU you use... I am curious.

Ok. I am not the sharpest tool in the shed.
I can't input anything in the Add Pattern field under the Vanity Gen Tab.
Is there a trick to it?
Only valid SPR characters are allowed. The first letter can only be a capital S (since all SPR addresses need to start with an S), it will not allow you to type anything else. The second letter also has a few restrictions, not all characters are allowed there (also SPR specific).... but after the 3./4. letter you can pretty much type whatever you want as long as it is a base58 character: 123456789abcdefghijkmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHJKLMNPQRSTUVWXYZ Notice that 0 (Zero) and O (capital o) aren't allowed, and I (capital i) and l (small L) are also not allowed. The program will tell you the allowed characters based on the cursor position, see... the "Allowed @X:..." text to the right of the "Add patterns" button. Awesome. Thanks Come to think of it, I will probably make it so that the first Letter S is always present, so that people don't need to type it themselves.

nice, 100% chance of servicenodes in only .077% of the time it will take for the sun to die! hopefully the servicenode network will win that race! In an effort to expedite things, another 100 spr bribe incoming.
Thanks again! There is always luck! Sometimes it says "50% in 10 min" and I find an address in 5 sec. BTW, I wonder how long it will take me with 1 CPU thread (3.6 GHz) to find "Servicenodes..." Damn, that's what I was going to search for. First one to find an address that starts with Servicenodes is the undisputable master of the universe.

Cool. If only I was sober. why, the vanitygen names you choose will be that much funnier now! Those are the names I am looking for ATM: An interesting thing to know is that you can put as many names as you want in your list, and the more different patterns you look for simultaneously, the higher the chances that you will score atleast one of them. It's just like throwing dice and having more patterns to look for. So fill up those lists guys and happy hashing. With a little luck you'll even find an address that will normally take 1000 years to find. PM: watch the CPU temperature, I suggest you just set 1 thread only , and just keep it running whenever your wallet is running.

And in the danish language it can mean poison or marriage 😛
lol! Anyway, here's the first preview-version (for windows only ATM, sorry) of the new wallet: http://www.spreadcoin.info/downloads/preview_wallet_0.zipThere is still a lot of functionality missing, but basically it can be considered a "working" version. Please backup your wallet, or better yet, test it with a completely new wallet. This is just a preview version, so be careful, there are small bugs.Finished features:1) New Design, new Menustructure, new informative header, etc.. 2) New Splashscreen 3) Additional Graph in the mining info screen --> Hashrate 4) 9 seednodes embedded. 5) Vanity Generator included. Have fun! A tutorial will follow, just try figuring out how it works, it's quite self-explanatory! Unfinished stuff: ...that I will finish over the next few days... 1) Load and Save vanity gen worklist to JSON format, so that the worklist persists even if you restart your wallet. 2) remove some bugs. 3) finish mac and linux version 4) clean up code and add comments, then add code to github. Alright! Have fun! And if you like, throw some SPR in my direction: SPREAD32jiWA4LvAHdKWALCZn163XhXUp5
