A decentralised internet search engine?

WTF.

Does that mean we can run AdWords?

lol, I've been thinking about this...
Generating revenue for the servicenodes thru annoying advertisements of any kind is not the solution.

But what if everybody with a SPR wallet can "hire" the service node network to do very specific search tasks... ?

For example:

"I give you this picture here and 1 SPR.... find websites that also contain this picture (or similar pictures)"

A few minutes later the results start coming in...

Support getting stronger by the hour on Bittrex. Bitter sweet lol

Just wait until the roadmap is up and we have announced the first few services.   Look at me....I sound like a cheerleader already!  Grin

it's basically what you can already read at the bottom of the first page of the website. ("upcoming features") http://spreadcoin.info

Roadmap will just be in more detail, and list the more immediate tasks that are ahead of us.
Ofcourse I can get very speculative about the far future in the roadmap, but I will not do this ATM.

BTW, forum is open again.

No trolls registered in the last 2 hours, so I guess the anti-spam measures are working.

Please add https://spr.suprnova.cc as pool!

Please add the pool to the OP Smiley

Any miner in any assumed pool can always just steal the block reward instead of following the rules set up by the pool.

It's for your own good that I don't put your pool in the OP.

Nope, they cannot, i have fixed that already long time ago.

Noone can steal anything as everything gets encrypted

Are your miners here open source?

https://spr.suprnova.cc/index.php?page=gettingstarted

Yes, they are all on my github, just the encryption key (256 bit) is secret. Did you follow the old thread? Smiley

There were parts that I skipped over I admit  Grin, I will have to read it first...

The website header is amazing.

I've been following a couple of the nodes and they don't seem to be just gifs, you can following them for hours (well, a minute or two). Fantastic.

http://spreadcoin.info/index.php

yep, html5 canvas with javascript, pretty much all browsers are now capable of running this.... welcome to the future (of no flash plugin)

Good work, georgem! Smiley We look forward to the roadmap.

PS. I created the theme of the Spreadcoin on the Russian Bitcoin forum: https://forum.bits.media/index.php?/topic/11320-spr-spreadcoin-istinnaia-detcentralizatciia-bez-pulov/
I will update it with fresh news Wink

Nice, I will then create a translations section. (I have deleted it atm)

Damn - second page.

I was out jogging.  Anyway - congratulations Georgem on all your hard work.  Ever since Mr. Spread left I was unsure where this would lead.  I applaud your and the communities hard work and can't wait to start testing Servicenodes again! :-)

-pokeytex

Thank you, thank you.

Some people like pools.

I like pools.

The only reason I don't mine on suprnova pool is, as someone else pointed out, he doesn't have a miner for windows and AMD.

In this instance, I think it is for pool operators to prove that they have a system for ensuring rewards can't be stolen by other miners before they get added to the OP?

Mr. Spread's code proves that a miner will always know the block and the private key before the pool does (the protocol ensures that), so this is already proof that a miner can do whatever he wants with that information before passing it on to the pool.

But... Maybe there is a way to create some kind of decentralized pool running on the upcoming servicenodes network?

A pool that is run by unneeded middlemen is a problem... because they will always pose a security risk (for themselves or other people)

A pool that is run by machines that have to follow strict protocol with no central control ?
I can live with that.
But I don't know if this is even possible.

Anyway, one rule of decentralization is to get rid of middlemen, not necessary pools.
But I do not know of any pool that is not run by middlemen.
The words "pools" and "middlemen" are equivalent at the moment and can be used interchangeably.
This could change.

Are the links in the FP to the new versions of the wallet? should i upgrade or will the old wallet still work?

You don't need to upgrade if you downloaded the latest wallet Mr.Spread released in January.

Website is a killer  Wink

A quick sneak peak of how the new website & Ann thread will look like, and what kind of design elements they will include:

I will use a lot of such animations to visualize every aspect of spreadcoin and its servicenodes.
(they won't be GIFs when finalized but javascript driven realtime animations, but I will have to use GIFs for the ann thread here.)

PS: those simulations are not very accurate and are only here for visualisation purposes.

lol, I forgot to implement this GIF...

anyway, it will included when its time has come.

Takeover?

I heard georgem took this project over.

Yes, I have taken this project over, since Mr. Spread has completely disappeared since nearly 3 months ago.

The old thread contained alot of dead links and Mr. Spread's website (spreadcoin.net) has been dead since he left too.

With the new thread here I introduce working links/downloads and a new website.

That's the least I can do for now.

...

Now that everything is set, the real work starts...

I plan on having my own implementation of a service ready for testnet by end of this month.

Stay tuned.

Awesome, looking forward to it!
The website tooks great btw, the only thing I would change is the "fork me in github" banner. I would move it out of the way of the links on the left.
I don't know if this happens on PC, but on my iPad the banner overlaps the website links.

Yes I am aware of that.

I will make it so that it disappears when it starts bleeding into the links section.

one moment.

Not much content yet I admit, but atleast it's a clean start.

We can always improve and extend from now on.

Thanks everybody.

Expect a roadmap later this day. I need a little bit more time to plan everything.

Meanwhile please test the new website, the wallets, etc...
