281  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: August 19, 2016, 11:25:34 PM
I received my trezor a few days ago, it really is an awesome device.
And now I finally have some free time.
Now the testing and dissection can begin,  Cool

Yep, that's IMHO the most awesome thing about the whole TREZOR project, that it is open source.

Thanks for this clarification , I wasn't actually aware about the built in miner ...

Not your fault, we never really openly advertized the in-wallet miner anyway.
It was always just an appendage from the past that we carried along with us all this time, lol.

I wish to ask about the current version of the wallet from the OP. It gives too much dangerous detection on virustotal.
..And I wonder what's the reason of that...

Why not just read the information that virustotal gives you?  Smiley
https://virustotal.com/de/file/5bfc55b9df744704142b1c9d7bde26860401957c238594daf7d52fa58be31f47/analysis/

A few of the virus scanners out there mark anything that mines cryptocoins as "unwanted" or "dangerous" software.

The current version of the wallet contains a CPU miner that you can directly access within the wallet GUI.
https://github.com/spreadcoin/spreadcoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L4896

Most of the virus scanners are OK with this though, see list:

The list of "green lights" goes on, but my screen doesn't.  Wink

I plan to remove any mining tools from the upcoming CORE wallet anyway, and put them in an external tool called "spreadminer". More info about this soon.

So I'm sure that those false Virus Alerts will be gone with the new wallet.

The natives are getting restless!!  Tongue

cue the wild bongo music.

I think Georgem is still working on it as we got the preview of the wallet recently - he just didn't have time to go into describing it all yet.

Yep, it's gonna be a long list of features, sorry for the extra waiting time.  Tongue

I will go into what BIPs we are going to use, and what problems we are going to solve.

With this new wallet I will basically create the wallet I always wanted to have.

Hey, I always create the tools that I want to be using myself.

Stay tuned for update later!
285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: August 08, 2016, 09:31:03 PM
The Bitcoin blockchain is now approaching 100GB.

By the time of the next halving it might be approaching 1TB.

Who will run full nodes?

Think about that for a while.

Then think about the current price of SPR.

Exactly.

I don't have much time right now to go into everything, but here's an early preview screenshot of the upcoming CORE wallet.

It's quite the construction area, so the design will most likely change, and much is still missing. But the general layout is now clear.

Stay tuned, I'll go into the design changes (and what they mean) over the next days.  Smiley

So, I contacted coinmarketcap about the bug they are having with Spreadcoin.

It probably has something to do with the now defunct spreadx.eu. (I removed all links to it from the official spreadcoin sites)

Told them to use https://chainz.cryptoid.info/spr/ instead.

Let's see how long it takes them to fix that.
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: August 06, 2016, 05:16:08 PM
Hey coinmarketcap,

please update the blockexplorer for Spreadcoin (SPR). The old blockexplorer (spreadx.eu) you are currently linked to doesn't exist anymore.

Use this one instead:

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/spr/

you will get current coinsupply like this:

http://chainz.cryptoid.info/spr/api.dws?q=totalcoins

Thanks.
288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: August 04, 2016, 02:52:37 AM
If only it were true.. Cheesy

Soon (tm)

Edit

Why is the link in coinmarketcap broken? Anyone know how to contact coinmarketcap?

It's not the first time this has happened.
It will get back to normal in a short time.

The problem they have: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/spreadcoin/#markets

they haven't updated the data they receive from Spreadcoin and Exchanges for 43 hours now.
That's why even their coinsupply shows 5 Million instead of the 6.1 Million Spreadcoin currently has.
But 5 Million is totally wrong anyway, lol, because that's like 6 months ago. I guess we'll have to contact them if this persists.

Spreadcoin Nodes, Blockexplorers and Exchanges are working fine, so I guess coinmarketcap will get their house in order soon, ...
... maybe what's happening with "the Ethereums" is confusing their system, lol
289  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Collision Finders Pool on: August 03, 2016, 03:28:24 AM
So, what's your opinion on this? Should something like this be done or not?

Difficult to say, many lifes have been wasted doing much more ridiculous things.

I would start more basic.
I would take an "easy" algo like MD5 and try to learn how to efficiently and quickly create an endless amount of collisions for MD5, and then slowly (veeeeeeery slowly) move to harder algorithms.

Whether you do it or not, I have a perfect name for your project:

Georgem, BTC on it's way. Let it rain magic internet moneyz!

Thank you very much!

Trezor also works with Mycelium.

Will the Spreadcoin firmware let the Trezor hold both Spreadcoin and Bitcoin art the same time?

Absolutely. Actually it automatically does so.

Trezor uses a single masterkey to deterministically derive everything else from, even addresses for other altcoins.
So it's not like each coin on the wallet has its own masterkey, it's actually one and the same masterkey for everything.

That's just how deterministic wallets work.

The only specific question is if trezor knows how it's supposed to hash the raw key of an altcoin to derive the characteristic look of a specific altcoin (so that Litecoins start with L, Namecoins with N, Spreadcoin with S etc.... And not many such descriptions are currently known within trezor.

They seem picky with what coin they allow in.  Smiley

I'm repopulating my ignorelist.  Cool

Sorry everybody for this distraction.

I need to concentrate.

You just lost my support.

If you got triggered by a joke, how strong was your support to begin with?

Don't let the door hit you on your way out!
294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: July 27, 2016, 11:51:33 PM
Enough with the (bad) jokes, back to seriousness.

Now I have a good reason to go and get me one of those.

Someone tell the Trezor guys to sell and ship a Spreadcoin version.

I will provide a non-official Spreadcoin-Firmware version, that you can flash onto your device. I will provide a tool that will make this a "one click" experience. (or probably even in-wallet)

Then the device will correctly depict Spreadcoin-Addresses and QR-Codes etc. But the caveat is, that such unofficial firmware versions make an alert message appear on the screen for a short time when you start the device (complaining that the firmware isn't official). But that's ok, I think we can live with that.

In the future if everything works right, the Trezor guys might implement Spreadcoin into their official firmware, but I can't promise anything, because I will probably deviate quite a bit from the way they expect you to use this device, lol.

In effect what you need to do is "jailbreak" your TREZOR device to make it run with the new wallet. It's pretty easy, I'll explain later.
295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: July 27, 2016, 11:04:21 PM
lol,

Mr. Zillion asked me privately:

Look, I'm all for free speech, even if it may offend some people.

The more money ISIS gives me, the less they have for trucks, machetes etc...

Also, grow a sense of humor, will you?  Roll Eyes

Donations welcome by everybody, I will not discriminate against you in any way.  Grin
That's just the nature of a permissionless open system like spreadcoin, everybody can participate and there isn't a damn thing we can do about it.  And that's good! Wink
(It's just that, I'd rather I had those SPR than him, that's basically why I said that.)
296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: July 27, 2016, 10:21:03 PM
SERVICE NODES?

GEORGEM, TELL US!

If you were a hot girl, you would likely be the biggest tease mankind has ever known.

"Would you like to see my boobs?" "Stay tuned to see!!"

Also, I'll PM you in a couple of days for your BTC address and I'll send a donation so Mr. Spread can get the organic, gluten free, juice cleanse diet he has been wanting.

Haha, yes I'm sorry, I'm teasing, I'm teasing. I'm what they call a "Stripper Dev".

But seriously...

I'm currently working on:

  • new Wallet (spreadwallet)
  • new Miner (spreadminer)
  • Servicenodes

I'm making progress every day, but alas there's no linear progress.
Every isolated piece must be finished independently, then integrated into the final product somehow.
Currently some pieces already work, some don't. Some concepts and design improvements suddenly reveal themselves during (sometimes unrelated) development, sometimes I have to scrap an idea and restart.

What I currently need most is a steady stream of donations. So I've put a BTC (and SPR) address in my signature, and welcome everybody to throw some money at me, if they like what they see. (Since money doesn't stink, even ISIS Money *wink* *wink* is welcomed at this stage).
If you want to think of me as a stripper, I have no problem with that, lol. Whatever rocks your boat.

Stay tuned for more naked skin!  Grin

Uh,  do you trust devices which are only controllable through some servers on the Internet? What if they close their service? You cannot use your device anymore..

Idea is great but it should be fully user controllable without any cloud services needed IMHO

You don't need a cloud server. You can use Trezors with their MyTrezor online wallet, but you don't need to.

The device will directly communicate through USB with the new CORE wallet.
(it's implemented as a generic class HID device so there will be no need for driver installation. The communication protocol is Google's Protocol Buffers).

The cool thing is, that at no point do your private keys leave the device.  Grin
You use the device to sign and authorize transactions/messages. (even offline)

The not so cool thing is, that the Trezor works as a deterministic wallet, (BIP 0032) meaning that you have one masterkey from which the device can derive a near infinite amount of addresses.

I say "not so cool" because it is not possible to combine this wallet with Vanity Gen addresses, but ofcourse it's fantastic to allow for deterministic wallets.

So the logical consequence is that the new CORE wallet will be able to handle both deterministic and non-deterministic (normal) wallets. In fact you will be able to use both wallets side by side.

In that sense it will be the first step towards a multi-wallet!

Can we call the release DASH classic?

Or

Bitcoin Underwired?

DASH to the ASH.

You are going to like the new spreadCORE wallet.  Grin

Stay tuned, everybody!

Got in relatively cheap on ETC. Hoping I can bring some of my big time profits back to SPR  Grin

Lol. Holy FOMO.

Yeah, mr. spread is pretty hungry, he needs those donations badly. He sends his regards and congratulates you to your new found wealth.

It's been a ridiculous trading day. The hashrate on ETC is now 700 GH/s. (EDIT: 800 GH/s) This is a really interesting example of people using their mining power to vote for a fork they prefer!  Smiley

Yay, decentralization!

More like "ugly divorce", lol. In a few weeks only one of them will survive I guess...
